Chapter 6: New adjustments

Town of Orario - Guild Building

As Issei made his way through the corridors of the guild building, he heard shouting of someone arguing, causing trouble and a scene, so Issei decided to intervene and calm the situation down peacefully.

"I told you already I am not interested in you or anyone!" Shouted an unknown woman's voice with demand.

"Pfft, please, you should be honoured to date me as I'm from the Loki Familia. I will be able to treat you well," said the unknown male from Loki Familia.

"I'm Sorry to interrupt you there, but if this is how the famous Loki Familia treats people, then they are an utter disgrace", Issei said, making the male and female jump at the tone of his voice.

"Huh, coming from a nobody like you, I don't even sense a falna on you. Bet you just a weak ass wanna be," said the unknown male.

"Hmmm, maybe or maybe not, but you never know as I hate to break it to you, but harassing a guild member using familia status is against the law, especially in that department that you are thinking, and also, I'm sure the guards would like to question you about it as well," Issei said with a smirk.

As the unknown male looked, he had abit of a sweatdrop go down as he noticed a specific guard making their way to them and not with a happy look. This made the male try to make a break for it but couldn't as he could not move due to being held in a position with strength above his own.

"What is going on here? I demand an answer!" Shouted the woman with short blue hair and wearing an orange-tanned outfit.

"This gentleman was harassing this lovely guild member, trying to force her to a date by using his status of familia miss", Issei said in a gentle tone with a look of honesty.

"Is that true, Rose?" Asked the blue-haired woman.

"Yes, it is. Sadly, Shakti, the man, wouldn't take no for an answer, and his eyes showed lust. It creeped me out, but I was lucky this fine gentleman helped me and even pointed out his wrong by saying the law he broke." Said Rose, the lovely guild member, was a wolfkin with red hair and golden eyes that held wisdom but also order.

The woman named Shakti now stared at the man being held by Issei and then ordered her guards to take him to be charged and a letter to be sent to his God/Goddess for breaking the law and paying a fine.

"I thank you for the help, sir, and my name is Shakti Varma and also the Captain of the Ganesha Familia. If possible, can I just take a written statement from you before I give my findings to my God?" Shakti asked

"By all means, I'm glad to have helped and been in the right place and time. Also, my name is Issei Hyoudou a pleasure to meet you," Issei said with a smile before writing his statement as Shakti left.

"Thank you again, Issei and stay safe," Shakti said as she disappeared from the guild building.

"Ano, I also like to thank you, Issei. My name is Rose Fannett. Are you an adventurer?" She asked with a tilt of her head.

"Yes, I just recently signed up. Young Misha registered as my advisor, but also not in a Familia yet as I just about to try and join one with this recommendation letter," Issei said as she showed her the letter with Ouranos stamp on it.

"Oh, so you're the Adventurer that Misha mentioned, well anyways, I'm glad you came to my help, and if Misha is unavailable, please come to me. I will be happy to help with anything as. My thanks for helping me," Rose said with a small smile.

"Thanks, I will look forward to it. Stay safe, Miss Rose," Issei said as he waved goodbye to her.

"Bye, Issei," Rose said as she turned around. She saw Misha smirking at her. "Great, Misha is going to annoy me now," Rose thought.

Issei was walking back towards the abandoned church to find Hestia and hoped she could help introduce him to Hephaestus to enter into her familia, learn ways of blacksmithing, and create other items using materials he could gather.

"Hey, Ddraig, what do you think about this whole familia thing to get stronger?" Issei asked his friend and partner.

"To be honest, it makes me curious about it. Maybe we could harness whatever power and abilities to use for ourselves when we return to our world," Ddraig replies to Issei's question.

"True, from what I read of skills and magic, it can be anything, but the one thing I'm more interested in is the development abilities. Those are worth something and can give the edge in things," Issei says.

"Yes, as we can get unlimited chances with skills and abilities by doing it ourselves anyways, but the development abilities are a rare chance to acquire, like being a master of healing, etcetera," Ddraig says back to his friend.

"I would be interested in Blacksmith, Mystery and possibly Magic Resist. Those could come in handy," Issei said he thoughts.

"I agree, as most of the others are basic knowledge like swordsman and spearman" Ddraig nodded in agreement.

As Issei was talking to Ddraig, in his mind, he was not far from the church when he could hear chatting up ahead that sounded like Hestia but others as well, so he started to go abit quicker in case something terrible happened to Hestia as he saw her as a new friend that must protect due to her trustfulness. Soon as Issei could see the church in view, he could see Hestia talking to Bell, Welf and Lili about something she didn't look happy about, which made her look cute as she was pouting.

"Hey, everyone!" Issei shouted, making everyone turn to him.

"Hey, Issei-san!" Everyone shouted in excitement.

"May I ask what you were talking about? I could hear you from a block away," Issei stated as he looked at Hestia, which made her blush.

"Haha, well, Goddess Hestia was worried about Bell as we are going to go into the middle floors for the first time, but we are starting tomorrow as I need to collect Salamander wool to protect us from the Hell hounds fire," Welf said with a smirk.

"Lili agrees with Goddess Hestia worries too much and likes to hog Bell too much," Lili says as she crosses her arms under her boobs and stares at Hestia.

"Why you! Bell is the first child in my Familia. Of course, I'm worried and don't want others to steal him!" Hestia argues with Lili.

"Goddess, I will be careful and honest. We make a good team and won't go too far. We are only testing the waters as they say," Bell says as he intervenes.

"Hehe, by the way, Hestia, you said you would introduce me to your friends. Want to go now while these guys can get prepped and start food for later on," Issei asked while he remembered.

"Right, I almost forgot. Should we go then, Issei?" Hestia says while trying to act cute.

"Haha, yes, please, I love to meet them also need you to show me to someone as well, if possible," Issei asked while slightly laughing at Hestia's antics.

"Hmmm, may I ask who you want me to show you to?" Hestia asked while they walked away from Bell, Welf and Lili.

"Well, let's just say I know which familia I like to join due to being able to bring one of my abilities to the test," Issei said as he waved goodbye to the others.

"I guess your Creation magic you mentioned to me? So I guess Phae Phae?" Hestia asked quizly.

"Bingo!" Issei said with a big smile.

"Oh Issei, your so silly, hehe, To be honest, Phae Phae is the friend I wanted to show you too," Hestia said with a big smile while giggling at Issei.

"Oh, that's good then. I hope she accepts me even with this recommendation letter from Ouranos", Issei says nonchalantly.

As Issei and Hestia left, talking about Hephaestus and other things, like how he met Ouranos and stroke a deal with him to help out in any way he can, which made Hestia shocked but also happy, showing he is still the kind person that she saw through his memories.

"So Issei, how come you want to join Hephaestus's family out of curiosity," Hestia asks while looking at him quizly.

"To be truthful, I always wondered what it be like being a blacksmith in the olden days in my world with just the skill and mentality they had to produce such weapons and armour, plus with all the things I have seen while I also like to do something badass," Issei said with a smirk but with determination in his eyes.

"What do you mean?" Hestia asks.

"Well, I want to make myself armour that adapts to my Sacred Gear without me summoning it and causing questions, but also… I don't want to be too reliant on it." Issei said as he browsed the shops he passed by and noticed two sword scabbards with unique designs. "Excuse me, Sir? How much for these two scabbards?"

"4,500 Valis for both scabbards, dear customer," said the man at the shop.

"Hm, how about "4,000 Valis, including this perfume?" Issei said as he was bargaining with the man, which left Hestia gobsmacked.

As Issei finished paying the vendor for both scabbards and perfume for Hestia, he attached them to the side of his body, overlapping each other, then placed both of his Ascalon swords in them, which looked like they were made for them.

"Ano Issei, thank you for the perfume, but how did you get money for it?" Hestia said, in abit of a happy mood but also curious.

"Ah, that's easy the others gave me some when they found me in the dungeon after I killed some of the monsters, so they exchanged the gems for me", Issei said as he answered her question.

"Hmm, I see, Bell never told me that I think I need to scold my child," Hestia says while pouting.

"Don't be too hard on the fellow, just being kind. Shall we head off and see Hephaestus then and get me all sorted" Issei says while head patting Hestia.

"Fine, but only cause you asked nicely, and I know he's a kind soul. It's why I love him so much. Also, yes, we better hurry up as I know she gets lost in her work," Hestia says as she remembers how obsessed Hephaestus is.

Both Hestia and Issei kept walking while chatting back and forth, making their way to Hephaestus's shop and main base of operations for her before she did her rounds of the various shops and workshops under her rule.

Once Hestia and Issei reach where Hephaestus is currently, Issei gets excited to meet the famous Blacksmith God who did a lot in Greek Mythology. They both entered the shop and saw a person behind the sales desk. Hestia approached him and said they were here to see Hephaestus and talk to her.

"Ah, Seig, how things, also is Hephaestus in? I brought someone with me to see her", Hestia says in a cheery voice.

"Oh, Hestia-sama, it's good to see you again and doing well, thank you and yes, Hephaestus-sama is in her office if you like to go in and see her," Seig says with a smile.

"Thank you, Seig im also glad things are ok. I will come to chat with you another time, but better get bring my friend to see my best friend," Hestia says with a big smile.

With that, Hestia brought Issei upstairs to Hephaestus's office to knock on it and await an answer.

'Knock Knock'

"Come in!" shouted a female voice which Issei presumed was Hephaestus.

"Hi Phae Phae," Hestia says as she enters, followed by Issei, which Hephaestus saw but will ask later.

"Why hello, Hestia, what do I owe the pleasure of your presence and who is this child next to you?" Hephaestus says while trying to figure out Issei.

"Pfft, I wouldn't call Issei a child when you find out yourself, but I wanted to introduce you, and also, he wanted to join your familia. He even has a recommendation letter from Ouranos himself," Hestia says while giggling abit.

"Huh… I see. May I know your name and also see the letter, please?" Hephaestus asked, now curious.

"Sure, Goddess Hephaestus, my name is Issei Hyoudou and here is the letter," Issei says while handing her the letter.

"May I ask why you like to join my familia before I read this letter? Why do you want to join mine when you could have chosen anyone, even Hestia, here?" Hephaestus asked, curiosity getting to her.

"Well, there are a few reasons. First is that it's something I've always been interested in. Once you see what is in the letter, I can explain better. The second reason is I know that I can bring new ideas to the ball game especially knowing the latter. Lastly, I always respected you as a Goddess and all the work you have done, including your Parthenon," Issei said with a smile which made the Goddess blush as she saw no lies in what he said. This action also made Hestia giggle because of what she saw.

"Right, thank you. I will read your letter, and then we can discuss this further, help yourself to a drink while you wait," Hephaestus says while doing abit of coughing to cover up her blush.

As Hephaestus was reading the letter, Issei made himself and Hestia a drink and was also admiring some of the work that was on display in her office, especially a well-crafted sword which was engraved with an enchantment but also a motivation for fellow smiths to gain this skill for the weapons which gave Issei a big smile. At the same time, he looked at Ascalon, thinking about the craftsmanship of that sword and its origins. Hephaestus also noticed this action as she finished reading the letter from Ouranos and now understood Issei was a different ball game altogether.

"So Issei, from what this letter states, you're actually from a different dimension? But also interested in learning this craft?" Hephaestus asked, curious about the boy.

"Correct, Hephaestus-sama, I can show you my past, but please don't judge my old self as just saying I went through a bad phrase," Issei said with abit of a blush.

"Fufufu, it's okay your a growing boy so I won't judge, but I'm curious about something. What did you think of that sword hanging above that door?" Hephaestus asks, thinking what answers he could say.

"Okay, I'll show you my memories in a minute, but answering your other question about that sword, it's well-crafted. I can see the amount of effort put into it, and that's not including the rune engravement and essence of your kinship," Issei said with a smirk.

"What do you mean by kinship Issei?" Hestia asked curiously.

"Well, similar to Bell's knife that has your essence but not as much as that weapon. You said you had abit of your hair mixed in with Bell's knife, so anyone from your familia could use it. With that sword, Hephaestus has introduced abit of her blood and hair into it, making it to fit her needs, so no one else could wield it unless worthy by herself," Issei said while looking back at Hephaestus who had the biggest grin.

I'm curious about the swords you have on you. They give off something different. May I have a look?

"Well, I can show you the less harmful one as the other is bonded to myself only, and anyone that touches it receives a somewhat painful experience," Issei says as he draws Ascalon out and hands it over to Hephaestus.

"Wow, such beauty and craftsmanship in this sword also. I also sense different properties but can't judge what they are," Hephaestus says, curious.

"Well, the sword you are holding is the Original sword called Ascalon. It's a Holy Sword once owned by St George, who slain a dragon with it. So what you can feel are the Holy element and its Dragon slaying abilities," Issei says while sipping his drink.

"Dragon slaying abilities?" Hestia said, tilting her head confused.

"It means it does more damage to dragon kind, and also, with the Holy element, it can damage anything undead or evil," Hephaestus said to help Hestia out.

"But Issei, you're a dragon yourself. How come it doesn't hurt you?" Hestia asks, now looking at Issei.

"Well, it was tuned to me, so I can use it without harming myself. Quite funny when you think of it. As for the other blade, it is called Ascalon II, and basically, it only listens to me as it fused with my Aura as such," Issei says while taking back the original Ascalon and putting it back inside the scabbard.

"Well, I must say I am going to learn so new ideas from you then, Issei and I will help you learn my craft as well," Hephaestus says with a smile.

"I will be happy to learn new things while training to get stronger, but first time to share my memories. If you, please pass me your hand?" Issei says

Soon as Hephaestus gave her hand to Issei, but cautiously and curious at the same time, Issei sent her his memories of his life and what she saw made her cry, shocking Hestia as she had never seen her display this emotion.

"Are you ok, Hephy?" Hestia asks, trying to comfort her friend.

"Yeah, I'm fine, thanks Hestia", Hephaestus says, then looks at Issei. "Issei, I can't believe what you have been through from going from a normal human teenage boy to becoming practically a Dragon God, and with what happened, I'm sorry it happened to you in such a way, and I will be glad to have someone with your will and honestly to join my familia if you still would like to."

"Thank you for your kind words Hephaestus-sama and yes, I would still love to be able to join your familia and help out with not just learning the craft and producing weapons, but I also like to explore other things in that area, too, if possible," Issei asked with a smile on his face.

"Not a problem at all. I have all the books you need for special things like rune engraving, but making the weapons or anything involving the smithy will need practice and guidance," Hephaestus says, smiling back at Issei.

"That's understandable, and I can't wait to learn like I said," Issei says with a smile.

"Okay, just lift your shirt and show me your back, and I'll give you my falna

So Issei lifted his shirt and turned around so Hephaestus could give him her falna. While doing so, she was surprised at what she saw and was in awe, but of course, this piqued Hestia's curiosity. Hephaestus regained focus and copied the stats on a piece of paper to show Issei.

"Here you go, Issei. This is how we show your levels and skill when we update your falna," Hephaestus says as she passes the paper over to Issei to look at.

"Im shocked at your abilities, Issei, but I am curious why one of your skills is sealed and the other is locked?" Hephaestus said while curious.

"Well, one is sealed as it's abit too much to have due to being one of my traits. Plus, it would cause many problems if people knew, and the locked one is probably cause I have yet to master it to its full potential. May I ask why it shows me as a Level 1 though I thought with my strength, it is a high level?" Issei says bit confused.

"Ah yes, everyone starts at level 1, but it keeps your strength once you fight and kill some monsters. No doubt it would sort your level out." Hephaestus said in thought.

"Hm, make sense, I guess, but either way, thank you, Hephaestus sama, for inviting me into your familia, and I'll do my best to make you proud," Issei says with the biggest smile.

"Ufufu, don't worry too much, but I am glad either way. With that done, should I show you a place you can use as your workshop and a place to sleep if you like" Hephaestus says with a smile on her face.

"Oh, thanks. That be helpful as then be able to study the books you are sharing with me and try and practice making things," Issei says happily.

After that, Hephaestus leads Issei and Hestia to a place for him to work and sleep if he wants to. While walking to the location, they were all making small chats, to which Hestia mentioned Bell's expedition to the middle floors with Welf and Lili, which surprised Hephaestus, but she was also happy that Welf had someone to party with. After about 15 minutes of walking, they finally arrived at the location, which will be based on Issei's future work and home, left for imagination as it was basically like a wooden shed with a forge and two rooms and a bit of a garden with a couple of trees out back.

"Well, here you go, Issei. Sorry it isn't fancy like most places, but it's the cheapest thing we give our new familia members to start up with, and later on the line, the person can either buy a new place or remodel this one with permission if they got the funds." Hephaestus said while scratching the back of her head.

"No, it's perfect, but can I upgrade the building with your permission? I got an idea to make it look more promising," Issei said while thinking about a design.

"I don't see why not, Issei. Would you like help, or would you like to do it yourself?" Hephaestus asks curiously.

"Well, to be honest, I can do it myself with the idea I have in mind. The only thing I probably need help with is the new roof design when I get to it," Issei says with a smile.

"Hoh interesting mind sharing?" Hephaestus asks with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"Maybe once I've drawn up my plan" Issei teased back, which made Hephaestus pout.

I'll look forward to your plans without returning to my office. I'll look forward to your plans without returning. Also, Issei, I will be around tomorrow to teach you the basics of smithing and pass you some books to read.

"Ok, thank you, Hephaestus means a lot. I will also treat you to some breakfast if it's the morning", Issei said as he waved bye to Hephaestus.

"So, Issei, what do you plan to do now?" Hestia asks, tilting her head to the side.

"Well, that's easy, Hestia, going back to the church so I can pick the bits I left there, and also, we all go out for something to eat to celebrate in a way", Issei said with a smile.

After that, both Issei and Hestia headed back to the church while having a general chat making each other laugh. Then, when they arrived at the church, Issei put whatever bits he had left into his storage through magic. Then everyone at the church went out to get something to eat and drink, being directed by Bell since he knew a good place to eat for a reasonable price.

"So, Bell, where exactly are we going?" Issei asked curiously.

"That's easy. We are taking you to a nice restaurant called Hostess of Fertility," Bell says with a grin.

"Hm, okay… strange name for a restaurant, but not going to judge," Issei said as he shrugged his shoulders.

"What do you mean, Issei?" Bell asked innocently while tilting his head.

"Don't think I should tell you. I might let Hestia tell you when you're ready", Issei says as he looks away.

"Oh, come on, I'm old enough!" Bell shouts like a kid.

"Really, as to me, you just sounded like a kid throwing a fit as being denied," Issei said while slightly glaring at him.

"Sorry, it's just I don't like being treated like a kid," Bell says, looking down.

"Well, hate to say this, but you still are in my books, but that's due to where I come from, plus you're too naive and innocent," Issei said softly.

"Ehh!" Bell shouted in a shocked way whilst Hestia giggled because of the reaction.

"Come on Bell, you had it coming. It's better to know now than not understand things when certain things happen, such as your meeting with Lily, for example," Hestia says while smirking abit.

"Hoh, good event or bad event, Hestia?" Issei asks curiously.

"Hmm, I would say both, but we'll leave it at that since she's promised never to do it again," Hestia says with a smile.

"That's ok then as long they learn from the mistakes and all", Issei says while nodding while Bell is confused.

"What you guys on about?" Bell asked with a confused face.

"Ah, don't worry about it, Bell. So, how far are we from the restaurant?" Issei asked.

"Oh, and not far. Should be there in a minute or two," Bell said as he walked, leading the group to the place.

Bell then guided both Issei and Hestia to the Hostess of Fertility, which made Issei ask Hestia the question of what her domain was like and what she did there, in response Hestia told Issei that she governed the area where the sacred flame was. She was just sitting around just, guarding it. Issei ended up teasing, saying she was like a hermit by not doing anything, just guarding the flame, which causes Hestia to pout and playfully hit Issei, saying she isn't. This also causes Bell to giggle at such a scene.

"We here, by the way," Bell says as both Issei and Hestia look forward and see it.

"Nice looks comfy but also at the same time cautious warning not to be bad," Issei said as he looked at it.

"Ah, that's because you get thrown out if caught doing something bad like fighting or assaulting the girls," Bell says while scratching his cheek.

"Well, that's understandable, to be honest, so im guessing the manager and the waitresses are ex-high-level adventurers to be able to do it," Issei says while thinking.

"Yeah, I know they are quite high don't know exactly what levels, but I know the manager is the highest out of the lot. She can be quite scary when mad," Bell said as he shivered slightly.

"Hmm, sounds about right. Well, let's have some food and drink before we split up to rest," Issei said with a smile.

After that, everyone went inside the restaurant, where Bell introduced Issei to some of the waitresses and the manager there, letting them know he knew and coming to celebrate abit. This makes Mama Mia happy as she gets a new customer and more money she loves. Issei noticed one of the Cat girls like trying to escape work and kept chatting him up, which he laughs at when Mia finds out and whacks her head. Afterwards, Issei split up from Bell and Hestia, headed to his new home from home, and got ready for the following day with Hephaestus to show him the ropes.
