6 - Meeting The Fairy Again

When she had stopped running, she found herself in the field of flowers again. Her fists were clenched tightly by her side and her eyes were red from rubbing her tears away. She could feel so much anger welling up in her and sword fighting was her only way to relieve it.

"What's wrong?"

She turned her head to the side to see it was that fairy again. She didn't answer as she rubbed the tears away again. His blonde hair shone brilliantly under the setting sun, haloing over his cherubic face. His summery blue eyes were narrowed with worry. It was such an odd sight to stare at the color of the sky in someone's eyes. He really did seem fae like.

This time, he wore simple clothing. Clothing befitting a servant boy. She knew he wasn't one of theirs as Miss Sophie made her go through the registry of servants they had to memorize who was part of their castle. It gave details of names and appearances. Blonde hair and blue eyes were rare. He was crouched down again picking flowers.

"Are you picking flowers for your mother again?" she asked him. He smiled and turned to look up at her... only for his eyes to go down to look at her dress. She looked down to see she didn't fix her dress when she had ran. Her bloomers were now dirty. Annoyed, she untied her dress to cover them from his stare. "This is what ladies have to wear." she explained. He nodded, a hint of teasing in his smile. His eyes looked back at her filled with mirth.

"Yes, my lady."

She could feel heat rush to fill her cheeks. She hadn't seen him for a while since that day. She must look worse than last they met. As she had ran here, some strands of red hair had loosen from her braid and curled over her pale flushed cheeks. "Shut up!" she snapped. She placed her hands on her hips as she glared down at him.

His eyes widen at the stance but he still smiled at her. "Why are you angry?"

"I don't want you picking these flowers anymore!" she dictated as she gestured towards the anemones. "These don't belong to you."

He turned back to his flowers that he was weaving into a circle. "Are you saying they belong to you?"

"Yes they do!" She jerked back in surprise when he stood up. As he walked closer to her, she realized he was the same height as her. "W-what are you doing?"

"Here you go, milady," he said softly, placing the wreath of anemones on her hair. He had weaved only the white anemones into a crown. "A crown fit for a beautiful lady," he continued as he did an elegant bow before her.

She touched the crown on her head as she looked at him in disbelief. She had just yelled at him but he acted like she was only talking to him. "Are you a servant?"

He laughed at her. "Didn't you call me a fairy?"

"Are you a fairy?"

His smile widened. "Do you think I am one?"

With the sun warming over his pale cheeks making them golden, he did seem ethereal. She had never seen something so pretty before. "I would like to be friends," she admitted.

"Then milady, we are friends."
