52 - Fighting To Live

Shouts of surprise filled the cavern. She pulled the sword out in time to move away from a sword being swung at her. The third guy had moved when she had struck. He wasn't quick enough. She had her size to count on as she dodged the swing. Anemone thanked her mother for cutting their dresses and removing the hoops.

She would not be able to fight well. The one who had pushed the injured guy before pushed the body away. The sword arced at her again and she moved backwards. Knowing she can't counter their strength, she will have to use something else. Thinking back to her lessons, magic popped up..

Anemone knew that the magic given was only for usefulness, not big enough to injure. But... this would be useful as a slight edge! Her hand touched her blade, running along the flat surface. Her fire heated the blade up.

The third man seemed to panick. "Shit, does she have full magic powers?"

"Calm down," the leader said. He had been standing in his position the entire time. "She only has a small amount. It won't matter to us."

"But her mother..."

"Urgh, I don't care! We need to end this soon!" one of the men screamed as he charged towards her. She sidestepped and touch her hand to his shirt. Casting the fire spell, the fire rapidly burned his shirt. Panicking, the man tried to pat down the fire.

She used this chance to stab him in the back also. When the sword sunk into the man's chest, the second man jumped towards her. She pushed the body towards the second, withdrawing her sword. The second caught the man on fire and his clothes caught on fire also. Dropping the body, he screamed and ran towards the pond.

When he splashed in, the fire grew bigger and surrounded him. He screamed in agony, his whole body being burned. Anemone thought, what kind of water does the pond have? She had drunk it earlier and it tasted like water? How did it not extinguish the flames? Her thoughts were interrupted by another man swinging at her.

She had taken care of three and only two were left. The leader and this shorter man. "It seems she's smarter than most girls her age," the shorter one commented. The leader also moved in. "She's already killed three of us somehow."

Anemone was tired. She had been running all day. Wielding the short sword was tiring also. She had adjusted to the weight, but it took a lot for her to swing. Holding the sword and dodging, she suddenly tripped over a rock. Her knees scraped from the sudden fall.

The shorter man raised his sword to deal the final blow on her. She stared wide eyed as a long sword went through his chest. Their leader had stabbed him from the back. Shocked, the short man turned to stare at the leader before falling down. The leader took off his mask and smiled.
