"Hey, why do you look like you're going to murder someone here?" A girl in her class, Yoon-Boram, said and rolled her eyes, walking to the seat opposite her. Song-Chae-Yeong stood up from her seat, carried her bag, packed up, left the class, and headed home.
"Do you still think that the useless niece you called is worth all your effort to continue sponsoring her education? Just marry her off like I told you, or she will have to leave my house, and you can follow her," Park-Min-Jin said. Park-Min-Jin is a 40-year-old man and also Song-Chae-yeong's aunt's husband who hates Chae-yeong for no reason. Kim-Da-Eun is Song-Chae-yeong's close relative and also her aunt, who has been taking care of Song-Chae-yeong since her step-sister Yoon-Ari died some years ago when Chae-yeong was 10 years old.
Yoon-Ari is Song-Chae-yeong's mother. She married into the Song family, was loved by her husband's family, and also gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl, Song-Chae-yeong and Song-Joo Won. Until one day, her husband brought in a woman with a girl whom he claimed to be his mistress and his daughter from outside. From the moment the mistress stepped into the Song family with her daughter, that's when all the problems started that led to Song-Chae-yeong's mother's death.
"Honey, please try to understand me. I'm the only one she has had since my sister died, and I promised my sister to take good care of her until her father comes to claim her and take her back to the Song family. I can't just let her be married off, and besides, she's still young and a high school student, please," Kim Da-Eun said, pleading.
"Dad, why would you be like this to sister Chae-yeong?" Park Ha-joon, their son, said and pouted like a girl to his father, who was looking at his mother irritatingly.
"Shut up, punk. Who asked you to say a word there? If you can't marry her off, then she should leave here and go back to her father. Besides, her mother was just your stepsister, and she's late, so why not marry her off to finish your good work taking care of your so-called niece who isn't even serious and is dumb, following that man everywhere, and she's the worst in her studies. You better marry her off before she gets pregnant for that little boy she's following around," Mr. Park Min-Jin said and stood up, but to his surprise, Song Chae-yeong was at the door listening to all they said. He rolled his eyes and hissed before walking to the stairway to his room upstairs. Kim Da-Eun looked back and saw Song Chae-Yeong standing still, with a cold expression that she had never seen before. A cold, scary look.
"With the look she saw from Chae Yeong , she knew she heard everything they said.
"Chae-Yeong? oh, you're back so early, what happened?" Kim Da-Eun said, looking concerned.
"It's okay, Aunt, I didn't feel alright in school today, so I left the class," Chae-Yeong said and forced a smile.
"Okay, go to your room, change, and come have something to eat so you can rest, but make sure you're fine tomorrow for school, okay?" Kim Da-Eun said worriedly and walked to the kitchen to make lunch for them to eat.
Chae-yeong nodded her head slightly and walked up to her room with a heavy heart. She got to her room, threw her bag on the bed, and slumped her tiny body on the bed with her uniform.
"Did that man think I am useless and think he could marry off, just like that? I'll show him and everyone, that, I ain't useless nor am I bad in my studies. I'm just being lazy, and from now on, I am reborn for a purpose. I need to change to what they never expected and make sure I win, not lose again like that in my past life," Chae-yeong said to herself, burying her face in her pillow before she closed her eyes to sleep.
