Chapter 17: The School Doctor

Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains of Principal David's office. He sat behind his large desk, which was cluttered with various documents and books. Opposite him sat an esteemed guest, Ryan. Dressed in a sharp suit, Ryan exuded a calm and commanding presence despite his youth.

Principal David wore a faint smile. Although Ryan's status was significant, he showed no signs of fear or subservience. "Ryan, it's been a while. How have you been?" Principal David began, his tone warm and friendly.

Ryan smiled slightly and replied casually, "Yes, it has been a while. How have you been, Principal David?"

Principal David chuckled, waving his hand dismissively. "You've been in the capital since you graduated and never came back to see this old principal."

Ryan laughed. "Well, I'm here now, specifically to see you."

Principal David nodded, a look of satisfaction crossing his face. "Alright, enough of that. How's your grandfather doing? I heard he collapsed recently?"

Ryan's expression grew serious for a moment, but he quickly composed himself. "Yes, my grandfather needs to rest well these days. Fortunately, we managed to save him in time, so there were no irreversible consequences."

Principal David sighed, a hint of melancholy in his voice. "We old folks are really getting on in years. Taking care of our health is the most important thing."

Ryan nodded in agreement, then shifted the topic. "Back to the matter at hand, Principal David, is my position here all set?"

Principal David smiled and nodded. "Everything is ready. I'll have someone take you to the school clinic shortly to familiarize yourself with the environment."

Ryan smiled, stood up, and thanked him. "Thank you, Principal David."

Principal David waved his hand, signaling that it was unnecessary to be so formal. "No need to be so polite. Let's have lunch together later; it's been a long time since we caught up."

Ryan nodded. "I'd like that. See you at lunch."

Principal David stood up, walked over to Ryan, and patted his shoulder. "Alright, go ahead and get settled."

As Ryan left the principal's office, he stood in the hallway, his gaze drifting towards the direction of Class F. His eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of a smile playing at his lips as he murmured, "Kit, we meet again."

Meanwhile, Kit sat in her classroom, engrossed in her book. Suddenly, she felt a peculiar sense of being watched. She looked up and glanced around, but the corridor outside was empty, and everything seemed quiet. She shook her head, dismissing the feeling, and returned to her reading.

In the school clinic, sunlight filtered through the windows, casting a serene light on the white sheets. Allen was meticulously organizing the office, his movements precise and professional. Ryan sat nearby, a laptop on his lap, his fingers flying over the keyboard as he handled company affairs remotely.

Brian, tidying up nearby, couldn't help but ask, "Sir, how long are we staying here?"

Ryan looked up from his laptop, glanced at Brian, and replied calmly, "We'll see."

Brian sighed, slightly frustrated. "We've been out longer this time than usual. I haven't seen the other guys in ages, and it's getting boring with only Allen for company."

Allen, pausing his work, turned to Brian and said coldly, "You can go back and let Calvin take over."

Brian jumped up, "Just kidding, just kidding."

Ryan ignored them, closed his laptop, stood up, and walked to the window, gazing out at the campus.

Sunlight bathed every corner of the school, and from the end of the corridor leading to the clinic, he spotted Kit's silhouette. Ryan raised an eyebrow, surprised to see her so soon. He watched her quietly, pondering her purpose.

Kit entered the clinic and approached the counter with a determined look. "Hello, I need a bottle of diazepam. I have a prescription."

Hearing her request, Ryan felt a flicker of curiosity. "What's wrong, Kit? Why do you need diazepam?"

Kit's face was expressionless as she replied coldly, "Doctor's orders."

Ryan glanced at Allen, signaling him to fetch the medication. Allen quickly retrieved the diazepam but only handed Kit a single pill instead of a whole bottle. "If you need more, come back tomorrow."

Kit seemed irritated, her eyes flashing with annoyance. "Why only one pill?"

Ryan smiled slightly, his voice gentle yet firm. "It's a regulation for your safety. You know diazepam shouldn't be taken lightly."

Kit pursed her lips in frustration but ultimately took the pill. As her fingers brushed against Ryan's hand, she felt a strange jolt and quickly pulled back, turning to leave with a cold and resolute demeanor.

Ryan watched her go, a complex expression in his eyes. He returned to his desk, staring at the registration form with Kit's name on it. He had previously asked Allen to investigate Kit's background, but the results had been unexpected: nothing had come up. This result led Ryan to two possibilities: either Kit was truly an ordinary person, or someone had deliberately covered her tracks.

Ryan couldn't believe Kit was just an ordinary person. An ordinary person wouldn't need such a large amount of diazepam. Deep in thought, he recalled her calm and resolute gaze. That kind of demeanor wasn't something an ordinary person could possess.

Turning to Allen, Ryan said, "Allen, continue investigating Kit's background. See if you can find more information."

Allen nodded, his face expressionless but his eyes determined. He quickly left the office to carry out Ryan's orders.

Ryan leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes, images of Kit's composed and self-assured demeanor running through his mind. Her calmness, confidence, and subtle guardedness seemed to convey a hidden message.
