It was late at night, so there were fewer and fewer cars on the broad street.
Holding the handrail tightly, Ann felt the car speed up all of a sudden.

She gritted her teeth and tried to sit still.
The car was speeding on the street.
The cars behind kept chasing.
They were even faster.
Patrick suddenly turned around.
If the seat belt hadn't shackled her, she might have flown out.
She controlled herself not to scream out.
"Call Mr. Elwood." Patrick said urgently.
