Chapter 04: Meeting Sky

My forehead, palm and body are sweating. I was nervous that i felt my heart would jump out of my chest, in any minute.

My brother would bring my daughter here to meet me, through im happy but im also nervous.

what if she doesn't recognize me? or she doesn't believe me when i explained my situation. I was definitely going to explode as the time slowly reach 9 o'clock, time for visiting or calling family members. Yes, the inmates schedule also have this, aside from work. you'll have 30 minutes to talk through phone call or 30 minutes visiting hours.

Phone calls could be deducted through your salary. Inmate employment is a requirement within the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Except for those inmates who have been designated medically unable to work by Health Services or Psychology Services. Through this, many inmates can earn money to buy their personal necessities or give them to their family outside.

well i have money, but i only just started serving in the kitchen as a helper not too long so hasn't earn that much to call outside. This visiting hours are the only thing i can count on to talk to my brother and daughter. so being this excited are expected, besides its been a long time since i saw sky, my baby!

clink! the cell opened and a 7'ft man came in view, wearing his blue police uniform. The police officer named Addir smiled at me as he waved his hand for me to come. looking at this my lips immediately hook up as i know they already here. my daughter is here!

my heart beat more furiously as i follow behind addir. My hands and joints felt a little cold and stiff, my excitement and nervousness would really give me a heart attack if i dont calm down.

"Nervous?" addir asked as i nodded

"Don't worry. Your not the only one whom became nervous meeting their child in here, most of them can't even move and became as stiff as a statue" addir laugh as i glared at him

"geez, that didn't help" i annoyingly said making him laugh even more.

addir is one of the police officer, i had a good relationship. He was a very outgoing 30 years old police officer, whom had rank magnificently after coming here. they say he was a very talented police officer that had been assigned here, and most likely would be the police chief in future.

"Here we are, goodluck and dont be too nervous" he said as he deliver me in the visiting area "your daughter are really cute by the way" he complement before leaving me in the doorway.

I scan the hall as few inmates are already there, chatting and laughing with their family. the atmosphere here are always lively since prisoners can see there family, in here the most special place is the visiting area. Inmates would even carefully wipe the table

and chairs they use after meeting their family.

brushing my sight in the surrounding, i spotted my brother in the last row of tables near the window. He was talking to a girl whom sitting across him, they look a bit awkward while talking at something. My brother with bitter smile looked up and spotted, he immediately stood up and call me bringing attention to others especially my daughter.

The little girl looked up at me and nod very reserve, my heart hurt as she looked at me liie any other other stranger she met but thinking that anyone would not recognize me from that start make me feel comport. atleast she's not the only one. that it is normal.

walking to them, stare lovingly at my daughter whom i neglected for years for that bastard ex-husband. Sky looked the same just as i left her in my friends orphan, but her doll big black eyes looks sad making me feel guilty so much my hands tremblingly pat her head. just like i always did, when im telling her don't be sad.

"Honey, mommy's really sorry for leaving you behind." my eyes watered as i look at here, she slowly looked at my eyes as it makes me feel more pain for wrong doings.

"I lost my way back, but im back for my sky. my home."
