Chapter 40: Promoted?

The group returned to Ancient Capital after six hours of travelling and rested up. Even though the fight was only a few seconds, the travel was even more gruelling.

Through the midst of the Undead in plain sight, avoiding the Undead with a stronger presence and not using any magic was tiring, especially when, if something went wrong there wouldn't be any backup.

Cao Guang rested up and meditated. Floating around his Inner world as he observed the four Nebulas. Two of them had spirit grade seeds to support them. Fire and Lightning, Prairie Flames and Lightning Order. Lightning Order was a spirit grade seed he had bought for 20 million, unlike Prairie Flames it had no special effects just a plain multiplier but that was all he needed.

His Summoning and Fire Nebula looked agitated, he could break through perhaps in a month. Because of having four Nebulas he was delayed in reaching tier two and more often than used spirit grade seeds and the Summoning element to bridge the gap.

He could fight all three of his at the same time using these but when they were taken out he would struggle. For this reason he had been focusing a lot on the Space element, right now it was his only defence. 

Telekinesis Wall and Space Rhythm Compression gave him extreme control at close range. Cao Guang exited his spiritual world and opened up his storage space. It was a trick space mages could use after reaching the second level in mental strength.

There were equipment meant to mimic this effect but space mages didn't need it. He would carry as much food and water as he could with every time he left the city.

Right now he could carry a couple of weeks worth. But his focus wasn't on that he took two bottles of what seemed to be water.

Water of Kun!

He had discreetly taken out some from both Sunny Goat Village and Hua village as he went there. He didn't take much from either but hoped he could pool Water of Kun from all the villages nearby and be enough for the Little Tora to reach peak of a Star Nebula magic tool. Right now it was still only at the Stardust level.

Water of Kun seemed to more concentrated than Underground Holy Spring, which only strenghthened his theory in his mind. So he had another question if he left Soul Essences in the pendant for a long enough while would it turn into Underground Holy Spring automatically. Did it have such a feature.

Little Tora pendant could no longer hold his excitement as it felt the delicious feast nearby, it shook and shined to catch it's owner's attention.

"You can have it"

The pendant drank both bottles and emitted a bright light of promotion. It had become a Star Nebula magic tool and could give Cao Guang some much needed help in cultivation. Occasionally he felt as if would loose his mind cultivating and now he could finally cheat again with a peace of mind.

He now needed to visit each village and steal some more and then slowly upgrade Little Tora pendant to the peak of Star Nebula level. Cao Guang then tried to communicate with the pendant on whether it could turn Soul Essences into fuel and got a resounding no for an answer.

The method of producing this Water of Kun was important to him. There was only so much of it that naturally existed. The Ancient King had mastered the method and went far in his cultivation. 

He built the wall and let his descendants stay safe in an area surrounded by Undead. He could hope that the other sources could help him. As far as he knew General Hua and the Prophet both knew atleast one more source of this Water of Kun. If he ever overdrew from the ones he knew about he could borrow from these two, but that was a long way ahead.

Now he had to meet with his combat instructor while the Tora pendant consolidated itself, he wasn't sure how long it would take the Little guy. 

He wasn't completely sure about being promoted to Lieutenant but maybe something would happen. He made his way to Fei Jiao's office and knocked.

"Come in" said the guy.

Fei Jiao looked boisterous and was beeming like a man who had gotten lucky unexpectedly.

Cao Guang observed the guy from head to toe and finally noticed a new badge on his chest from the Magic Association.

"Congratulations on breaking through instructor".
