300 291. Spar Duel, Zhao Yun Vs. Lie Fan

Lie Fan then raised his hand and apologized to Zhao Yun continuing by saying that he stood by what he said because it was all true, Zhao Yun having his ager managed to calm down asked for the evidence that described what he just said, and Lie Fan immediately agreed to describe the evidence and he even have a perfect example, shocking Zhao Yun because he though Lie Fan will not agree because there actually no evidence to support his claim.

Lie Fan hearing that he had no evidence sneered and ordered Jia Xu to take out the report they received from anonymous people in Qing Province, who told them about some of the bad things Liu Bei had done which was hidden under the mask he used.

Of course, the anonymous source Lie Fan talks about is the Oriole who had infiltrated deep inside Liu Bei's domain and mingled among his servants and soldiers, preparing to sabotage or just listening to the conversation that potentially holds important information.

Jia Xu received the order and left the hall, Zhao Yun seeing this was surprised but decided to hold his mouth and wait for Jia Xu to come back, not initiating any conversation with Lie Fan in the meantime.

What he doesn't know is that outside the hall, Oriole members were heading toward a room near the hall with some scrolls and books that were filled with information about Liu Bei, of course only the bad ones and not the good ones.

Silently, Jia Xu read between the lines, searching for the information that could potentially influence Zhao Yun's perception of Liu Bei.

Jia Xu while perceptively shifting through the information, found out about Liu Bei's private discussion with Lady Gan his wife, about how abandoning Gongsun Zan is the only way he could stay in power at the time when Lu Bu suddenly takes over Qing Province.

Jia Xu after reading this information aware of the weight this information carried, because if Zhao Yun knew that Liu Bei abandoned Gongsun Zan at an important conjecture because of his personal pursuit of power and not care for his family or Qing Province people, his perception of Liu Bei will be shattered.

From the way he heard how Zhao Yun talked about Liu Bei before in the hall, he could see that Zhao Yun had fallen completely with the act that Liu Bei had portrayed, which needed to be changed if they didn't want Zhao Yun to fall into Liu Bei's hand.

Jia Xu recognized the potential in Zhao Yun and how important it was to have his allegiance toward Lie Fan's growing force, as he could envision Zhao Yun as a cornerstone in the expansion of Lie Fan's military might just like Dian Wei, Huang Zhong, Taishi Ci, Gan Ning, and Zhang Liao.

Armed with this information, Jia Xu returned to the hall while concocting a narrative to help Lie Fan convince Zhao Yun, while walking toward the hall he met Lu Lingqi who was standing in front of the hall standing there with her personal guard.

Jia Xu was confused as to why Lu Lingqi was there, he approached her and asked her if there was anything he could help her with, Lu Lingqi who heard Jia Xu's voice from behind was startled and turned around facing Jia Xu's face to face.

Lu Lingqi was startled and turned her head around, seeing that it was Jia Xu she was relieved, and she replied to Jia Xu's question by saying that her curiosity was piqued and inquired about the mysterious warrior who had garnered Lie Fan's attention because not many people of great caliber could have Lie Fan welcomed them at the front of the gate.

Jia Xu hearing Lu Lingqi's words felt that it should be okay for her to join inside, but insisted that Lu Lingqi remain quiet after her introduction because Lie Fan is negotiating with the warrior right now.

Lu Lingqi agreed and so they entered the hall together, attracting Lie Fan's attention who greeted Lu Lingqi with a nod and asked her of her intention to come here today because if he remembers he didn't have any appointment with her.

Lu Lingqi with eyes gleaming with curiosity, told Lie Fan the reason she came here was because she heard about how he welcomed a warrior in front of Xiapi's gate himself which piqued her curiosity.

Lie Fan: "Haha I see, oh yes where are my manners, Brother Zhao Yun this is Young Lady Lu Lingqi, Lu Bu's daughter who was under my protection alongside her mother, and Young Lady Lu this is General Zhao Yun a subordinate of Brother Gongsun Zan."

Lie Fan, seized the opportunity to raise his voice to act like he was angered by Zhao Yun's words, to show that everything was true and it was an insult to him for Zhao Yun to even accuse him of doing such a thing.

Both Zhao Yun and Lu Lingqi were stunned when they heard Lie Fan's voice, Zhao Yun felt ashamed because he realized that he acted out of line, and Lu Lingqi had never seen Lie Fan being angry with such a high and serious voice, taking her by surprise.

Zhao Yun apologized to Lie Fan and then to Jia Xu, he continued by saying that it's not that he doesn't trust the two of them, the one he doesn't trust is the people who sent these lies to Lie Fan and Jia Xu.

Lie Fan shakes his head, and he replies to Zhao Yun's words by saying that he believes what is contained in the scroll, because it is true that Liu Bei was an opportunist, look at how he receives Qing Province.

Kong Rong's death more or less was due to Liu Bei, because if he hadn't answered the reinforcement call from Kong Rong, Lie Fan actually wanted to send his army at the time but Liu Bei then answered the call.

Liu Bei then sent a letter to him saying that he didn't need to involve himself because it does require Lie Fan for such a small matter.

Zhao Yun was surprised and began to grow silent processing the news he had received, Lie Fan seeing Zhao Yin acting like this continued by saying that he had the evidence of the letter, which Jia Xu then gave to Zhao Yun who then read it.

Taken by surprise by the information contained in the letter, Zhao Yun sighed and began to process the information he received which shook him to the core, not expecting Liu Bei to act like this.

Lie Fan sees Zhao Yun's mind is full of heavy thoughts, and invites Zhao Yin to do some exercises to relieve the heavy thoughts in his mind, he has long heard of his prowess and skill from Gongsun Zan, and today he wants to test himself.

Before Zhao Yun could even say his answer, Lu Lingqi on the side let out a delighted sequel that attracted the attention of everyone in the hall, which made Lu Lingqi embarrassed but acted like nothing happened with red face.

Zhao Yun thought that it was a great idea to take his mind off the matter, and decided to agree with Lie Fan's suggestion, since Zhao Yun agreed with that everyone then left the hall and headed toward the training ground at the barrack to spar there.

At the barrack, Lie Fan, Zhao Yun, Jia Xu, and Lu Lingqi's arrival attracted everyone's attention, especially Zhang Liao and Ji Ling who could sense the martial aura that Zhao Yun emanated, and the same thing also happened to Zhao Yun when he saw both Zhang Liao and Ji Ling.

Lie Fan introduced Zhao Yun to both Zhang Liao and Ji Ling, omitting the words that could indicate Zhao Yum as their comrade, after that, both Lie Fan and Zhao Yun take a wooden halberd and spear respectively before standing in the training ground face to face.

This immediately caused quite a commotion because everyone there knew of Lie Fan's prowess and skill, so they expected this to be a short duel but Zhang Liao, Ji Ling, and Lu Lingqi felt the opposite of everyone.

Lie Fan takes his stance and uses the Eye of Erlang Shen on Zhao Yun, seeing the stats he was supposed but before he can react Zhao Yun makes the first move and makes a stabbing motion toward him.

If it was a normal one it would take Lie Fan by surprise, but Zhao Yun's stabbing motion was so fast that it left some shadow, fortunately, Lie Fan had Lu Bu's mastery over all the halberd and the skills to master it.

Lie Fan uses the halberd in his hand and does a sweeping attack from the right, which collides with Zhao Yun's spear causing a loud sound of metal collision, Zhao Yun is taken back by surprise because his master told him when he teaches him this skill that only people with overwhelming power and completely mastered his skill over Zhao Yun could stop Zhqo Yun's attack, and today he finally meet the person described by his master which was Lie Fan.
