198. Clash At Yan Province

Liu Bei was put as a barrier between Lie Fan and Cao Cao, after Yuan Shu was defeated both sides perceived each other as enemies, if it was not for Lu Bu's sudden rise Cao Cao would focus on Lie Fan next.

Lie Fan was walking with his bodyguards when suddenly a man wearing a blue scarf alongside some men blocked his path. Lie Fan's bodyguard immediately raised their weapon, to protect Lie Fan.

Lie Fan frowned, even though the Castle was big not many people could enter due to how tight the protection was right now, with Lie Fan, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei's soldiers guarding it.

It can only be an inside job and from the looks of it it's not Cao Cao's or Liu Bei's men as he has never seen them before, and the man wearing the blue head scarf has an aura of a general.

Lie Fan: "Who are you? I think you know who I am, it would be foolish to try and do anything right now."

Jiang Qin: "Lord Lie Fan I'm Jiang Qin, I'm not trying to do anything, I just want to swear my allegiance to you alongside 300 of my brothers!"

Lie Fan: "Jiang Qin? Aren't you a pirate captain who roamed around the Yangtze River in Jing and Yang Province?"

Jiang Qin: "I'm honored that Lord Lie Fan knew of my name, yes I'm that pirate but I have left my old ways and joined Yuan Shu which was the worst decision of my life, I heard that Lord Lie Fan accepted Gan Ning under your wing, so I hope that Lord Lie Fan can also accept me!"

Jia Xu introduced Lu Fan, Liu Ye, and Liu Ba to Lie Fan, saying to him that they wanted to swear their allegiance and serve him.

Lie Fan feels like heaven always blessed him when he finished a subjugation war, previously he received Yan Jun, Yi Ji, and Zhuge Jin, and now he received Jiang Qin and Liu Ye whom he has looked around for using Oriole.

Lie Fan smiles at them and says that he gladly has talented scholars serve him, as there's no such thing as too many scholars to have, especially talented ones who could help him.

Lu Fan, Liu Ye, and Liu Ba cupped their hand in gratitude to Lie Fan for accepting them, Liu Ye and Liu Ba thought of joining the other lords if Lie Fan didn't accept them, with the former Cao Cao and later Liu Bei.

Lie Fan then introduced Jiang Qin to Jia Xu and the others, while also using the Eye of Eroang Shen to see Liu Ye and Liu Ba's stats.

After introducing Jiang Qin, Jia Xu then informed Lie Fan of the negotiation result they had reached with Guo Jia, where everything was as planned except for one change where they would relinquish Runan to Cao Cao, in exchange for more prisoners they received.

Lie Fan feels that this exchange is worth it, Runan is not that important to his grand plan, as he has received the entirety of Lujiang which was under Lu Kang, where he can summon Zhuge Xuan who was sent there by Yuan Shu.

Lie Fan was satisfied with the result, and so was Cao Cao who met Guo Jia, he also received some of Yuan Shu's generals and advisors who swore their allegiance to him, such as Qi Ji, Chen Ji, and Ma Richdan.

Liu Bei also received the former generals and advisors of Yuan Shu, named Yue Jiu, Han Xian, and Han Yi. Of course, compared to Lie Fan the people who flock to their members pales in comparison to Lie Fan.

They stayed in Runan for some days, Cao Cao took his leave bringing 115,000 of his men 15,000 from the surrendered soldiers of Yuan Shu alongside Guo Jia and his generals, to reinforce Cao Ren who was attacking Lu Bu by now to retake Puyang and Jibei.

Liu Bei had already left before Cao Cao, saying that he had to take care of Qing Province. He can be said to be a fisherman on the sideline, doesn't lose anything but receives many benefits.

Lie Fan left Runan on the same day as Cao Cao, bringing around 210,000 men, with 35,000 men taken from Yuan Shu'soldiers who had surrendered, and the rest was left for Cao Cao.

Lie Fan returned to Xiapi with his army leisurely, he ordered Lu Kang's son Lu Jun to bring his 15,000 men to return to Lujaing with an extra 10,000 men, to defend Lujiang from a possible attack from Liu Biao.

Lu Jun brought his generals and 25,000 men to Lu Jiang, Lie Fan also ordered Huang Zhong, Dian Wei, and Zhang Chao to return to their base, with Xun You Huang Zhong's strategist being replaced with Liu Ba.

They also received 5,000 more men, Increasing them from 30,000 to 35,000 men while the rest of Lie Fan brought alongside him to return to Xiapi, where Jiang Qin will then go to Huai'An alongside 300 of his brothers.

Different from Lie Fan who returned home without a burden, Cao Cao brought his army to reinforce Cao Ren at the tastes speed possible, Cao Ren was more of a defensive general than an offensive so his offensive maneuvers were not as good fortunately he had Xi Zhicai alongside him.

Cao Cao spent 1 and a half months crossing Yu Province and Yan Province to reach Chenliu, where it became the base of defense and offense against Lu Bu. At this time Yuan Shu's defeat has been announced, but everyone is now focused on Puyang.

Only the Yuan Clan felt the heavy damage to their prestige, as Yuan Shu was branded as a traitor and was so easily defeated, not even a year into the war and he was defeated.

Lu Bu who was at Puyang led his army to defend his newly conquered territories, he didn't want to lose it after just taking it from Cao Cao.

Lu Bu was advised to bring 100,000 of his men to the crossroads and build fortifications there to increase their odds, as Cao Cao would bring around 200,000 men which were numerous compared to Lu Bu.

The rest 30,000 men will be led by Gao Shun alongside Hou Cheng, Song Xian, and Wei Xu to defend Jibei from Lie Fan'd army under Taishi Ci or even Liu Bei in Qing Province.

Under Chen Gong's coordination, Lu Bu brought 100,000 men accompanied by Chen Gong alongside Zhang Liao and his other generals, to rush toward the crossroad, while Gao Shun led the 30,000 men to Jibei.

At the Crossroad, Chen Gong orders the soldiers to build a makeshift wooden fortification wall, across the road to block it and make many wooden barricades to be put at the front of the wall.

Lu Bu stands on the top of the wall, waiting for the arrival of Cao Cao's army holding his halberd in his right hand. Zhang Liao and Chen Gong are standing beside him, looking South where Chenliu is located in that direction.

At this time suddenly saw large numbers of an army marching, from this amount alone it can be seen that it was around 200,000 men in the eyes of Chen Gong and Zhang Liao who were much more witted than Lu Bu.

Cao Cao was immediately attracted to having this man serve under him, so Cao Cao offered him a chance to serve him and in exchange, this village would be fed by him and protected from bandits.

Xu Chu agreed to Cao Cao's offer, so he was appointed by Cao Cao to become his bodyguard, as he felt that no assassin or killer could approach him with Xu Chu protecting him

Cao Cao: "Lu Bu! Surrender yourself and return what you have taken from me, and then I will spare you and your family from being executed!"

Lu Bu: "Haha! Cao Mengde you are a fool if you believe I will do so, I have taken Puyang and Jibei from you why do I have to return them, as for my family, I dare you to try it and my halberd will receive you!"

Cao Cao: " Why don't you just come and serve me, I will give you everything you want and more! Riches, Positions, and even women!"

Lu Bu: "Humph I can have all of that by myself, why would I have to receive it from you, Lu Bu only serves myself from now on!"

Cao Cao turned his horse and returned to his early followed by his generals. Cao Ren at Cao Cao's side talks with Cao Cao, saying that everything is as Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai predicted, they would not surrender and wouldn't even realize that they sent 50,000 men through Xiapoei to attack them.
