†INCONSIDERATE†

Aria and Ryan sprinted forward, their safe haven was up ahead and they knew it was a promise of refuge from that short thing.

As they ran, Aria dared and glance back, her gaze moving over her shoulder for just a split second.

And in that fleeting glance, she saw it, the dwarf creature that was a little far away moved forward with unnatural speed. Its little claw that was underestimated, extended impossibly long and sharp.

The extended claw was aiming directly into Ryan's exposed back. Aria saw this and she yanked Ryan arm, pulling him sideways with all her strength.

The claw swooshed past, mere inches from Ryan's spine, the sound of the claw passage was a chilling whisper. If Aria hadn't seen it or hadn't reacted with lightning quick reflexes, Ryan would have been left with a gaping hole through his body. The hole would be so gruesome and a fatal wound that would have severed his spinal cord, ending his life instantly.
