34. Election Meddling.

After I had gotten what I wanted, in what could only be poetically ironic for it's bearer, I used Giran's own quirk, Muddiness, to wipe his memories of his time in my care, and cleared all the signs of our hospitality from his being, with Recovery Girl's quirk, that I had copied two days prior.

Then, it was just a matter of pretending that he was blackout drunk and dumping him in a love hotel, registered under false pretenses. An extra precaution, no doubt, since he wasn't stupid enough to believe that he blacked out and awoke two days afterwards, two prefectures north of his last location, without reason.

Hell, if he were so, he wouldn't be the man the anime had shown him to be.

And someone I could respect, even if begrudgingly so, for his loyalty was worth it's weight in gold.

Too bad, I didn't need it. After all, this whole sorry business would be done and over with soon enough, and he was of little to no use where I was headed.

But, Giran aside, with this newfound intelligence, I could perhaps finally move on to bigger, better things.

Though for now, it was time for the crap that was the selection of the class representative.

As I waded past the sea of presstitutes swarming the walls of UA, out of the corner of my eyes, I saw the scraggly form of one dusty boi, watching the gates.

I could almost hear the 's-senpai!~' vibes coming off of him.

"Pfft!" I sputtered, suppressing my laughter, finally getting inside, and making my way to the class.

Just in time too, as moments later, Aizawa walked in, with a scruched up face, and a worse mood than usual.

"Good morning." He yawned, "Let's get this over with. Bakugo is suspended for two weeks starting today. We're running behind schedule due to the day off yesterday, so we need to get back into gear fast.

Now getting back to homeroom business. I'm sorry for the late notice but today I'll have you.." he said, getting comfortable in his bag, as a nervous atmosphere descended upon the class, "... decide on a class representative."

"Finally a normal school activity!" Everyone cheered and raised their hands for candidacy.

"I want to be the class rep! Pick me." Kirishima shouted, forst and foremost.

"Me too." Kaminari said.

"I want to do it too!" Jiro said.

"It's a job made for moi!" Aoyama said, only to be interrupted by Mina.

"Me! I'll be the leader!"

As the class turned into a fish market, one stalwart voice rose above all others.

"Silence please!" Iida said attracting everyone's attention.

"It is a serious job with the responsibility of leading others. It is not just a job for anyone that wants it. It is a calling that requires the trust of those around you. If we want to use democracy to decide on a true leader, then we should hold an election to choose one."

"Your hand is raised the highest." Tsuyu pointed out.

"Why did you suggest that?" Kaminari sulked.

"We haven't known each other for that long so how can we have trust or anything?" Tsuyu asked.

"If that's the case and everyone votes for themselves..." Kirishima suggested.

"Don't you think that is precisely why whoever receives multiple votes here can be truly considered the most suitable person?" Iida explained.

"What do you think Aizawa-sensei?" Iida asked.

"I don't care as long as you decide by the time homeroom is over." Aizawa-sensei replied.

"Thank you very much!" He said, as we began to cast votes.

The votes tallied up to about what I expected.

Matsumoto Yuji - 7 votes

Deku - 3 votes

Tsuyu - 2 votes.

Iida - 1 vote

.....

"1 vote.... someone voted for me?!" Iida muttered with joy.

"You voted for someone else huh?" Momo said, looking at him pitiably.

"But you wanted to do it too?" Rikido wondered.

"What are you trying to do Iida?" He asked.

"Are you done then? Let's get this over with." Aizawa-sensei said.

I stood up and walked to the podium with Deku and leaned against the desk.

"Thanks for voting for me. Now for my first act as president, I appoint Shoto as president and Iida as vice president." I said nonchalantly and walked of the podium.

"What?!" Iida and the class cried in shock.

"Now that you mention it, you didn't raise your hand when asked for candidacy did you?" Kaminari said.

"Yeah, I noticed that too." Tsuyu said, " Don't you want to be the class representative?"

"Nah. Don't want it, don't need it. Besides, shouldn't someone like Iida be more worthy of it. I mean he is responsible, motivated and selfless. He didn't even vote for himself!" I explained.

"Neither did you, Matsun." Deku pointed out.

"Yeah, but that is because I didn't want it. Iida wanted it, and yet he chose to look over his own self interest for something greater. That's leadership material right there!" I praised.

"You just want to dump the work on him don't you?" Deku replied, chuckling.

"Well, you don't have to say it out loud....." I protested, smiling.

"But why make me the president then?" Shoto asked.

"Just 'cause. No special reason. Nope. None at all!" I said, skipping back to my seat.

Of course there was a special reason.

I needed him weak and untrained, for when I put my plan into action.

The fewer threats there are to my plans the better.

What better way to keep him out of training than to waste his time with pointless bureaucracy?

Then why did I refute it thrice? Wouldn't it be suspicious?

The thing about that is, that it was the entire point of the exercise!

To leave them guessing, one and all, what cryptic reason I had for choosing Shoto, wasting their time.

As they say, if you can't climb to new heights, drag everyone else down till you're on top!

"Thank you, I suppose?" Shoto muttered, walking up to the podium, accepting his position alongside Iida.

With that done, Aizawa handed them a form each to be filled and submitted by the end of the day and left to nap the day away, when suddenly alarms started blaring.

"Intruders..." Aizawa muttered, unde rhis breath, leaping out of his sleeping back.

"Stay here, lock the doors. And don't leave till the alarm stops!" He warned, before running out of the class.

"What was that?" Kaminari asked out loud.

"It's the security system. There's probably been a breach in the UA wall. There were a lot of reporters outside, what with the incident with Bakugo and All Might taking up a position here. It's probably one of them, trying to enter the campus illegally. Lot's of crazies in that profession.

Nothing to worry about." I explained.

"O-oh, okay." Kaminari replied, letting out a sigh of relief.

Though, this was worrying to me.

Wasn't this suppose to happen an hour later, during lunch?

What changed? Was it me spotting him outside?

Did something so small really put him over the edge?

A myriad of thoughts occured to me, as the alarm was slowly turned off, and the reporters were ushered out.

The deed, as I suspected, and confirmed from Shigaraki's book, was done.
