Dissolve The Contract.

In the expanse of the lavishly decorated office, adorned with opulent interiors that emanated the unmistakable grandeur of its distinguished owner, a man sat behind the mahogany desk. His back faced towards the transparent, wide glass walls that offered a breathtaking view of the sprawling building and the vast horizons beyond.

Engrossed in reviewing the documents before him, the man's perfectly arched eyebrow furrowed, lending a hint of intrigue to his piercing brown eyes. It was evident that this man was no ordinary individual. His impeccably groomed ebony-brown hair was slicked back, accentuating his straight, pointed nose and his thin lips, slender and resolute, forming a perfect symmetrical line. The angular contours of his jaw exuded an unwavering sense of command, further enhancing his already striking visage.

Just as he was about to turn to the next page of the document, his assistant, disheveled and breathless, abruptly burst into the room and stood before the table, a determined expression etched upon their face.

"Xiaojin, pray tell me why you entered my office without so much as a knock, lacking even a modicum of respect?" the man uttered in a calm voice, his eyes unwaveringly fixed upon the document. Nevertheless, Xiaojin was acutely aware that beneath the serene facade, his boss seethed with an inferno of anger.

"I-It's of utmost importance, Master Xuejian," Xiaojin replied, attempting to steady his voice.

"What is it?" he inquired.

"Master Xuejian, Mistress was spotted in front of Master Chenwei's mansion" he informed.

"So ..." Xuejian uttered.

Xiaojin narrowed his eyes, unsure if he should continue with the rest of the story, as his boss seemed disinterested in the conversation.

"She claimed to be his wife"

"This is just another one of her dramas for attention" Xuejian replied.

"She also said she loves him and also misses him" Xiaojin informed, this time noticing a rigidness settle upon his boss's countenance.

Xiaojin was standing there for some time before he heard his boss roar at him, "What are standing there for, bring her back to me right now" Xuejian said as he banged his hand on his table.

Xiaojin hurried towards the door, only for it to swing open unexpectedly, revealing the figure of his boss's wife standing before him, much to his astonishment and disbelief. 'How did she manage to arrive here so fast?'

Meiying fixed her gaze upon Xiaojin, with a smile that further bewildered him. He returned the smile and left the office, Meiying then gracefully moved toward the chair situated opposite her husband who was watching her every move.

"Long time no see," she beamed, her words not referring to the present moment but harkening back to her past life. The last time they had encountered each other was at her engagement ceremony with Chenwei. Meiying knew her statement would not stir confusion within the present Xuejian, for although he was her spouse, he rarely graced their home with his presence. Consumed by work, he would often find solace in slumber at his office, unless important matters beckoned him back to their abode.

"You seem happy, where have you been?" Xuejian asked the visible signs of anger etched on his face. Meiying was dumbfounded, she thought of Xiaojin's actions prior to her arrival, leaving her pondering what could have transpired to evoke such a reaction from Xuejian. Nevertheless, she remained resolute in her pursuit of happiness, determined to no longer endure the pain she had experienced before. It was time to fight for what she truly desired.

"I want us to dissolve the contract" she declared. However, she was taken aback when Xuejian responded with laughter, his amusement casting doubt upon her request.

With a decisive air, Xuejian rose from his seat and gracefully approached the floor-to-ceiling glass, overlooking the breathtaking view of the country. Folding his hands behind his back, "And what makes you think I will agree to it?" he inquired, his voice laced with a mix of skepticism and curiosity.

Meiying's shock was palpable, prompting her to rise from her seat and join Xuejian by the window - a bold move she had never dared to make before. "Xuejian," she called out his name, catching him off guard with the newfound confidence in her voice. Realizing her mistake, she quickly corrected herself, "Hubby." However, her attempt at endearment only seemed to distance him further, as if she bore a contagious affliction.

Confusion washed over Meiying, left wondering what she had done wrong. Chenwei had guided her on calming methods to employ when faced with his anger, but her efforts seemed to fall flat in the face of this nonchalant man staring back at her. Maybe it could only work in Chenwei.

"Did falling from a tree impair your brain?" he questioned with a serious tone, causing Meiying to nervously chuckle in response.

"Perhaps, but I'm earnest about dissolving the contract," she expressed with conviction.

"I cannot grant that request," Xuejian responded firmly.

"But you said, after two years, if I desired to leave, I could, and if I wished to remain married, I had that option," Meiying reminded him, hoping to appeal to the agreements made between them.

Xuejian then walked to the far end of the office and Meiying gasped as he revealed a hidden safe behind a painting. Xuejian entered the passcode, unlocking the safe to retrieve a single file. Meiying couldn't help but notice that the file was the only one in the safe indicating its significance.

As Xuejian handed her the file, Meiying hesitantly opened it, her eyes widening with each passing sentence. The contents contradicted the conversation they had just shared, revealing that the contract was, in fact, for three years, not two. Stunned, she looked up at Xuejian, unsure of how to react. In her previous life, she had pleaded with him to break the contract just about three months from now and he had obliged. So, what had changed this time?

Gathering herself, she mustered a smile and calmly uttered, "So, this time I have to wait an extra year."

Xuejian furrowed his brows, perplexed by her words.

Meiying sighed, it seems that she should forget about being with Chenwei, he could have married Xiaoxiao before she divorces Xuejian.

Observing Meiying's expression, Xuejian couldn't help but wonder about the changes he saw in her. From his assistant's information combined with Meiying's request, it became clear that she had fallen in love.

"Let me know when you're leaving," he said, turning to head back to his chair.

But before he could walk away, Meiying surprised him by saying, "I'm leaving now." She confidently made her way to the door, leaving Xuejian dumbfounded. He couldn't help but attribute her firmness to the accident, convinced that the fall from the tree had somehow altered her personality.

As Meiying passed by Xiaojin, he graciously extended his offer to escort her. A radiant smile adorned her lips, expressing her profound appreciation for Xiaojin's unwavering support. Despite working alongside the seemingly cold-hearted Xuejian, Meiying was pleasantly surprised by Xiaojin's tender and compassionate nature, which never wavered. To her, he was the only true friend of Xuejian, and she found joy in knowing that Xiaojin remained faithfully by his side.

Regrettably, Meiying politely declined Xiaojin's offer and stepped into the elevator, which swiftly transported her to the underground parking lot. Settling into her car, she closed the door and took a deep breath, savoring a brief moment of tranquility. However, her auditory senses were suddenly captivated by the sounds of a woman's voice echoing in the distance. Intrigued, Meiying ventured outside and stumbled upon Chenwei and Xiaoxiao engrossed in a heated argument.

"Why are they here?" Meiying pondered to herself, curiosity piqued. Eager to uncover the reason behind their disagreement, she strained her ears to catch glimpses of their conversation.

Xiaoxiao, her voice tinged with accusation, pointed a finger at Chenwei and asserted, "Your hesitancy stems from guilt."

Perplexed, Chenwei retorted, "What on earth are you talking about?"

"You have something to do with his wife," Xiaoxiao accused.

"You're insane! I have already warned her, and I don't see any reason to inform her husband. It could potentially shatter her marriage," Chenwei explained, his tone tinged with exasperation.

"Oh, now you decide to show kindness," Xiaoxiao retorted, her voice laced with sarcasm.

"I refuse to continue this conversation with you," Chenwei declared, retreating to his car. As Xiaoxiao furiously pounded on his vehicle, he swiftly drove away, leaving Xiaoxiao in his wake.

Meiying couldn't help but sport a mischievous smile. Perhaps Chenwei's impending marriage wouldn't come to fruition after all. All she needed to do was maintain her composure and charm around him. If she played her cards right, Chenwei might come to see her as a respite from the chaos of his own relationship. Meiying saw this as an opportunity to swoop in and claim his heart after she severed ties with Xuejian and openly pursued Chenwei.

It was a wicked plan but her future with Chenwei was on the line.
