"I have to go fight. I'll be back soon. You should watch me so you know how strong I am." The noble man sighed. He was disappointed that his round had to begin now as he wanted to stay with this beauty.
The man left through the doorway that led us to the ring, finally leaving Ayla, who was getting annoyed with him being there. She considered him a leech that would never detach itself from her, no matter how much she wanted it to.
With the leech now gone, she unblocked her sense of hearing, opened her eyes and turned her head to face the battle. She wasn't interested in watching him, but she was interested in the prowess of the other competitors. Also, she wanted to see the leech squashed like a bug.
On the ring, the leech stood on one side with his tachi on his waist, while on the other side of the ring stood a man with blue hair, black eyes, and clad in red. He had a single black and golden tachi sheathed around his waist. His hand rested on the handle.
Since both of the competitors were inside the ring, the judge announced the beginning of the match.
"How about you surrender? There's no way you can beat me. If you surrender, I'll promise you won't even lose a hair!" The leech boasted loud enough for everyone to hear.
Tetsu didn't show any signs of anger and replied, "Your arrogance will one day stab you in the back."
"We'll see who gets stabbed in the back." The leech grinned, unsheathing his tachi as he dashed forward.
Tetsu didn't stand by; he mounted his feet on the ground, and with a powerful step, his figure flickered. Within seconds, he appeared in front of the leech—his body bent forward with his tachi in his hands.
The leech raised his tachi up and slashed at Tetsu, who swiftly sidestepped to the left. As he took another step, his figure flickered.
"Argh."
He coughed out blood as he covered the large gaping wound a few inches below his rib cage. This left one hand holding his heavy tachi.
"Argh."
"I warned you that your arrogance would one day stab you in the back. And it did." Tetsu spoke from behind the leech.
Tetsu's tachi had pierced through the leech's heart from the back. There was nothing that could be done to save him now—his arrogance had stabbed him right through the back, and now he was going to pay for it by putting his last foot in the grave.
"Now sleep well, and maybe you'll not be so arrogant in your next life."
The leech's head went limp and Tetsu pulled out his tachi from his body, allowing the body to fall to the ground with a thud.
Many of the spectators gawked in silence over how quick and gruesome this match was, but they didn't care about the leech.
The judge finally broke the silence. "Tetsu Hayabusa wins!"
Tetsu went back to the public resting area and sat down, while three attendants went onto the ring and dragged the leech's body away and wiped the blood.
After the crowd settled down, the judge stood up and announced, "The second match, Toru Wakahisa versus Tabo Haretsu!"
Two men stood up in the public resting place. One of them stood eight feet tall with a muscular body. He wore an antler helmet, and held a five-meter-long spear, and entered the ring.
On the other hand, the second guy who stood up was a young man who had an average height. He had messy brown hair with golden and blue armor with two ono's(Japanese axes).
Once they were both in the ring, the judge shouted, "Match—begin!"
They stood 10 meters apart, as Toru towered over Tabo like a mountain in front of a moderately-sized hill.
Despite the physique difference, Tabo's eyes were still filled with fighting spirit.
"Shrimp, how about you surrender? There's no way a shrimp like you can beat me with those toys in your hands!" Toru said with confidence in himself.
"You shouldn't underestimate me based on the physical differences between us. Instead, you should judge me off of my strength and skill! " The blades of Tabo's started glowing with a green and brown aura.
"Hmph! You are as arrogant as the others, thinking that a shrimp like you can defeat people like me who actually have strength!" The terrifying aura Toru was emitting caused the flags around the arena to flail wildly.
"Ha!" With a roar, Toru rushed towards the shrimp, thrusting his spear forward.
(A/N: I'm sorry for the delayed chapter. My sleep schedule was off and I'm trying to fix it, making me tired earlier than before.)
