It's been two weeks since I was reincarnated into this world and I've had some pretty good encounters. Working as a chef isn't too bad because I get to work doing what I love, and if Lise was here she'd be proud of me.
I often think about my old life and even though my brother often bothers me, I have to admit that I miss him and Lise too. They were the only family I had, and we were very close. But it doesn't matter, I feel like I've found the equivalent with Zain and Zara, even though they love waking me up at 6 in the morning so I can make them something to eat.
My mastery of magic isn't really progressing and I'm still blowing things up and flooding places. I've still got a lot of work to do but I'm sure I can do it.
In a few minutes Zara's birthday party is going to take place, today she turned 15, I was quite surprised when I heard she was 15, I thought she was only 7 because of her size and especially the choice of decoration for her room which was far too childish. She loves stuffed animals, dolls, and candies, and she acts very spoiled and immature.
For the occasion I had been asked to cook for the buffet as the royal familie of the human were going to be there, I couldn't wait to see what royalty was like here and I hoped they wouldn't be mean.
"Place this on the table, please, and quicker, there's only a few minutes left," said Madame Flinch. She's always angry, that woman.
I sighed before placing the last dish on the table, the buffet was simply incredible and so was the room we were in and the theme was black and white, simple but effective. The buffet consisted of various dishes from both kingdoms, showcasing their specialties and delicacies. There were meat, fish, cheese, bread, fruits, vegetables, pastries, cakes, and more.
Everything looked delicious and smelled amazing, and I was proud of my contribution. I made some of my own recipes, using ingredients from this world and combining them with techniques from my old world. I also made some firefruit tarts, which are Zara's favorite.
The room we were in was the main hall of the palace, and it was decorated with black and white banners, balloons, flowers, and ribbons. There was a large stage at one end, where a band was playing music, and a dance floor in the middle, where people were could dance.
" Well, I've finished, I can go and change now" I said to Mrs Flinch and headed for my room.
I took a quick shower. After two weeks I still wasn't used to bathing with a bucket of water and there's no soap, but I'll find a solution later. Once finished I took a towel and wrapped it around my waist.
I came out of the bathroom and looked at the dress on my bed, the dress was simply beautiful and it was a lovely black colour. I put the dress on and then two maids came into my room.
"We're here to help you do your hair," one of them said before making me sit down and starting to do my hair. They were nice and friendly, and they often helped me with my chores or my appearance.
"You've got really well-groomed hair," one of the maids said, which I don't know why but my hair was silkier since I arrrive here . Maybe it was because of the water or the climate, or maybe it was because of magic.
"Thank you," I said as I let them do their work.
"But it's a shame it's that color," the other maid added, then the first maid tapped her on the shoulder to shut her up.
"It's not serious, I'm used to it," I said, perhaps it was one of the only things I was going to reproach this world with, red hair was very bad and I think a lot of people were going to remind me of it during the feast.
Once they'd finished coifing me, that is, waving my long hair, it made me look incredible.
I looked at myself in the mirror and felt a surge of confidence and beauty. The black dress fit me perfectly, highlighting my curves and my waist. The smooth satin felt soft and luxurious on my skin, and it sparkled under the light. The dress had a sweetheart neckline that exposed my collarbones and a slit that gave a glimpse of my leg. The dress was simple but sophisticated, and it suited me well.
"You really are beautiful, Leora," one of the maids said and my smile got even bigger. I was ready for the banquet.
"By the way, can I have some of your firefruit tart later?" the other maid whispered and I nodded my head in agreement. I was happy to share my food with them, they deserved it. They had done a verry good job.
I left my room and headed for the main hall, where the banquet was about to start. I felt a surge of excitement and nervousness as I walked down the corridor, wondering what would happen tonight.
As I reached the hall, I saw Zain and Zara waiting for me at the entrance. They were both dressed in black and white, matching the theme of the party. Zara wore a white dress with black lace and pearls, and her blonde hair was styled in an elegant bun.
Zain wore a black suit with a white shirt and tie, and his blond hair was combed back. They both looked stunning, and they smiled when they saw me.
"Leora, you look amazing!" Zara exclaimed, hugging me. "That dress is gorgeous on you!"
"Thank you, Zara. You look beautiful too, and happy birthday" I said, returning her hug. "And Zain, you look very handsome."
"Thank you, Leora. You're too kind," Zain said. He offered me his arm and I took it. "Shall we go in?"
"Yes, let's go," I said, feeling a warm sensation in my chest. Zain and Zara were my best friends in this world, and I was glad to have them by my side.
We entered the hall and joined the crowd of guests. There were people from all kinds of races and backgrounds, some of them I recognized from the palace, others I had never seen before.
There were elves, dwarves, fairies, mermaids, and even some dragons in their human forms. They all wore black and white outfits, creating a striking contrast with their colorful skin, hair, and eyes. The hall was filled with music, laughter, and chatter, and the smell of delicious food.
"Leora, you've made a firefruit tart, thank you," said Zara, really excited, and went straight to the buffet to get a tart. Zain laughed.
"Well it looks like Zara's never going to change, and the food you've made makes it all the sweeter" said Zain and he was right.
There was no one on the dance floor, everyone was heading for the buffet and even beating each other up for a bit of food.
"Yes you a..." I didn't even have time to finish my sentence when a man spoke with what seemed to me to be magic.
"Please welcome the royal family of Loria," he said and a trumpet sounded.
I turned my head to see the entrance of the hall, where four figures emerged from behind a curtain. They were dressed in splendid robes of purple and gold, the colors of Loria.
The first one was the king, a tall and stern man with a thick beard and a crown of jewels. He had a commanding presence and a piercing gaze. Next to him was the queen, a graceful and elegant woman with brown hair and a tiara of pearls. She smiled warmly and waved at the crowd.
Behind them were the prince and the princess, both young and beautiful. The prince had short brown hair and green eyes, and he wore a cape and a sword. He looked confident and charming, but also a bit bored. The princess had curly brown hair and blue eyes, and she wore a gown and a necklace. She looked cheerful and curious, but also a bit shy.
They walked down the aisle, followed by a group of guards and servants. The guests bowed and cheered as they passed by. I felt a surge of awe and admiration.
I turned to Zain who was looking at the prince with admiration, well admiration was too weak a word, Zain was actually blushing and devouring him with his eyes.
"Zain, Zain" I said, but it was as if he didn't hear me, and then he turned to me.
"What?" he asked and I couldn't help but smirk.
"Are you gay?" I asked.
