The Truth (1)

The darkness surrounded the two for a moment before a blinding light enveloped them, and when Cas could see again, she saw that they were in a room that was completely white as far as the eye could see.

"Where are we?" She asked while trying to free herself from Qhessa's webbing.

Ciaran said nothing as he sat down on a chair that seemingly appeared out of thin air.

"I'm going to show you the truth." He said, releasing a heavy sigh.

Suddenly the entire white room began changing, showing different images that rapidly changed until finally pausing on a specific image of an older female talking to a little boy. Then the memory started playing.

"Don't worry." She paused as she held the little boy. "Rex is in a better place now."

The boy said nothing as he only cried harder and hugged the woman.

"I was seven years old when I lost my mother." Ciaran said solemnly as he looked at the woman.

Cas ceased her struggle as she observed Ciaran and noticed he looked sad.

While Cas didn't doubt what Ciaran had said about being from another world, it was still difficult to believe.

"Your mom is Lady Maria Maxamus." She said defiantly.

"No." He said with a shake of his head. "My mother's name was Rachel, and she was a drug addict that would constantly beat me." He paused as he pointed at the still image. "This was the day my mother died, and it was also one of the best days of my life."

Cas paused as she observed the image of the mother and the boy, specifically the little boy. He was no more than seven years old, and Cas noticed multiple discolorations on his skinny arms and legs. Even one of his eyes was darker than the other. She even saw a small cut on his lip that had scabbed over.

"She told me I looked too much like my father." He said coldly.

The image changed, and instead of a mother and a boy. Instead, it now showed a group of kids surrounding a boy.

Cas watched as the scene began to play and saw how the kids beat up the little boy until he was black and blue. A moment later, a male adult wearing glasses showed up and grabbed the leader of the kids and the boy who was beaten up.

She watched as the adult took the wounded boy to a place that looked like a hospital with strange equipment. After dropping the wounded boy off, he took the other kid to an office, where he sat him down next to two individuals wearing some kind of strange black and blue uniform.

"Listen." The man wearing glasses began. "You have been with us for seven years, and I understand you are angry at the world and want to burn it down." He paused as he looked at the young boy. "But you can't hurt other people to release your anger."

"Why not?" The boy asked as he shrugged his shoulders.

Cas watched as the man turned toward the box on his desk, and her eyes widened when she saw the box light up as he began hitting strange symbols. What was most shocking was that she recognized those symbols.

When Ciaran first recovered, he began writing with those symbols. At first, she had thought he had lost his mind, but then he had taught her what each symbol meant, and as she watched the man tapping each symbol, she could understand what he was doing.

"Police report?" She mumbled to herself.

"After that incident." Ciaran began, grabbing her attention. "I was sent to prison for kids and spent two years there, and it was thanks to Ms. Boyle that I was able to help get through my past. She even adopted me when I left juvie." He said as the image changed.

This time, the image before Cas showed an older woman with gray streaks running through her hair and covered in wrinkles as she hugged a young man who stood a head taller than her, and she was drawn to that figure.

"She helped me enroll in a prestigious high school and even used her connections to get me into a well-known college." Ciaran paused as he smiled softly. "Thankfully, she passed away before seeing what had become of me."

Cas could hear the sorrow in his voice and the sadness as he looked at the still image of the old lady, and she knew that whomever this Ms. Boyle was had a deep place within his heart.

"I don't understand why you are showing me all this." Cas said as she eyed him.

"After my mother passed, I was angry and furious at the world for nine years and was passed from one orphanage to another until Ms. Boyle saved me." He paused as he stood up and began walking toward her. "I have no idea what this Dark Elf nonsense is, but what I do know is rage when I see it." He said as he stopped right next to her and waved his hand.

Suddenly the webbing restraining her began disappearing, and now she was free.

Free to grab him by the collar and look him in the eye, and with a low growl, she said, "You have no idea what anger is."

Ciaran said, noting as he only pointed to the image before her.

Cas looked and noticed it was different. No longer did it show the two embracing, but now it showed the young man slamming things into the ground until he walked up to the old lady and grabbed her by the collar.

A spitting image of what was happening right now, and Cas couldn't help but release him as she was beyond shock.

"Rage is like your soulmate." Ciaran paused as he fixed his collar. "It will always be with you, and no matter what, you can never get rid of it. Although there may be times it becomes dormant, and you feel like you can finally move on with your life." He paused again as multiple images flashed by.

Some scenes showed the man and Ms. Boyle getting along and enjoying life. While other times they were clips of him with other women in bed. Finally, ending with him walking through the gates of a large academy with the large symbol for S that had a tree in it.

"I wanted to be like Ms. Boyle and decided to take up psychology." Ciaran said.

"Psychology?" Cas asked as the scene before her kept playing.

"It's the study of the mind and how one thinks." He paused as the image of a girl with dirty blond hair appeared before them.

"Who's that?" Cas asked when she noticed he had stopped talking.

"That's Kristin, and she was my first love." He paused as he chuckled dryly. "She's also why my second chance at life was destroyed."
