164 Basement rat

Leo was annoyed at the fact that he would have to make the plan, but in the end he didn't really mind it.

If he had to make it he could also control how everything went, something he liked.

He wanted to have as much control in any situation as possible so that no unexpected stuff could happen.

"Yeah, fine. Don't expect me to make it today though, too tired to do so."

"I don't care when you make it, hell I don't even care if you make it."

Leo sighed.

"Honestly I don't know how you made it so far with this kind of mindset."

Valentina shrugged and opened the door to the mansion, not reacting to Leo.

Valentina and Leo entered the hideout and Leo looked around.

The mansion looked very good to him, it was spacious and well decorated in a minimalistic modern way.

"Leo, do you want to meet Aria now or tomorrow?" asked Valentina.

Leo didn't feel like meeting anyone at the moment, he was quite tired and honestly didn't want to do anything but go to sleep.

"Mind if I do it tomorrow?" asked Leo.

"Not at all, it has been quite a long day after all."

"So, where will I sleep?" asked Leo.

A smile appeared on Valentina's face as she spoke.

"Right, please follow me."

Leo had a bad feeling about it but obliged.

He got a good tour around the mansion and had a good idea of its layout by the time Valentina and Leo arrived at the stairs.

Problem was, the stairs didn't go up but went down.

"Uh, Valentina...?"

Valentina didn't let Leo finish his question and answered early.

"Yep, you will be staying in the basement. It is quite a mess down there, I'm pretty sure Aria placed a mattress down there for now so you can sleep there, there is a lot of excess furniture and other junk down there from me, if something nibbles your toe in the middle of the night just kick your foot a bit, it will probably scare it off."

"You don't honestly expect me to stay down there, do you?" asked Leo.

"Oh I fully do, I will allow you to tidy up the basement fully to your liking, it will practically be your personal room. If you need anything to be put down there just ask me and I will probably order it, right now it is a fucking mess though so you probably want to start by emptying it out, but that is a problem for tomorrow. Have a good night Leo!" said Valentina as she started walking away.

"Valentina you bitch you can't honestly expect me to stay down here!" yelled Leo as Valentina rounded the corner.

No response followed and Leo sighed.

"I just want to have a good night sleep..." said Leo as he opened the door down to the basement.

Leo walked down the stairs and felt around for a lightswitch.

After five minutes of scrambling around looking for the switch he found it.

The light flickered a couple of times before turning on.

Leo looked around the basement and cursed his luck.

It indeed was in a horrible state, a single mattress laid in the middle of the room.

The rest of the room was littered with old furniture, broken planks, buckets, paint cans and much more.

a musty smell lingered in the basement and Leo somehow swore he could smell alcohol or something.

Nevertheless, Leo laid down in bed and closed his eyes.

He was absolutely drained and didn't even care where he had to sleep, he just wanted to sleep.

He kept coughing from the dust, he was pretty sure that if he slept here for a week he would develop pneumoconiosis.

"I just hope that that toe nibbling part that Valentina said isn't true..." thought Leo as he slowly started falling asleep.

However, falling asleep was quite hard.

Everything in the basement creaked and sometimes Leo swore he could hear scratching, keeping him awake.

After a couple of hours he finally fell asleep in the shitty basement and he swore one thing.

"There is no way in hell that I am sleeping here again tomorrow, I will clean this basement first before I sleep here again."
