11 Chapter 11 Preparations

Within the northern region of Polink, a figure in a black cloak could be seen standing atop a roof. 'Seems Captain Grip isn't all that cautious.' Naturally this figure was Rak who was currently scouting out Captain Grip's crew.

Rak had been living on Polink for about a week now, and in this time he had been spying on the pirates, specifically Captain Grip, because in his view Captain Grip was probably the weakest of the lot. 'Unlike Captain Black Root, Captain Grip is simply a straightforward brawler, I can deal with that pretty easily.' This was what Rak thought.

Currently he was confirming for the last time where Captain Grip would head to. It seemed as though every night around 10pm Captain Grip would visit a specific building with all his crew in tow, and then they'd all leave around 2am. 'Lets just hope its not too depraved.' Rak then disappeared, he was heading back to the bar tomorrow he'd defeat Captain Grip.

Once Rak arrived at the bar, he quickly went to the backroom using the key Ram had given him before shutting the door and opening the hidden pathway. Rak then walked down the pathway before entering the hidden room.

"Back so soon?" Eni asked as Rak took off his cloak. "I mean there's not much to check out now is there. He's been going to that place as usual, I'll deal with him tomorrow." Rak replied before he went to a corner of the room.

Rak then began to do some pushups. During this time he hadn't neglected his training, because if the opponents were as strong as he believed them to be, he needed every edge he could acquire. Captain Grip was only the first one after all. If he was the only enemy then Rak would have just attacked him immediately.

"Why do you train like this everyday? Shouldn't it be pretty ineffective for someone of your caliber?" Eni questioned as she watched Rak do about 100 pushups in about 60 seconds. "Its called being disciplined, you should try it." Rak replied.

Over these past few days he had interacted with Ram and Eni quite a bit, and from what he could tell Ram did most of the heavy lifting. Eni simply lazed around most of the time. From what Rak could tell, this was because Eni had provoked someone she shouldn't have, but she had to stay here because of the mission leaving her in an awkward position.

"Whatever, I am not a combatant anyway, that's your job." She said before lying down on the sofa and falling asleep. 'Well she's not exactly wrong.' Rak thought to himself before beginning his sit ups. Fortunately he had already done his running while scouting out his enemies, so now he only needed to do the relatively simple and quick exercises.

A few minutes later Rak finished his training and then began reading the book labelled "Captain Grip". He had already read the book for the most part but he was simply giving himself a refresher of its contents.

"Captain Grip, one of the two weakest Captains on Polink. His expertise is brawling, he uses his fist to solve all disputes. His crew's nature is similarly brutish, they solve everything with violence. Captain Grip himself isn't all that intelligent getting lost in his desires much of the time."

'So from what I can understand, this man is just a human ogre.' Rak thought to himself before continuing the book, but it didn't say much else. The only other main point was the size of his crew which numbered about 200 people, in a head on collision they'd be tough to fight.

Fortunately Rak had no plans of fighting the crew head on. 'The chaos they'll cause will be beneficial for me.' Rak mused before putting his hand in his pocket. Inside there was a cold dagger with a sharp edge. 'The task says defeat, but my superiors said eliminate, its obvious what I have to do.'

Rak had already come to terms with what was required of him, and it made no sense to simply defeat the Captains. Unless he could beat all 5 of them at once and have them swiftly detained then defeating them was simply pointless because they'd get back up again and do what they were doing before.

The next day, Rak left the bar bright and early. Polink was mostly inactive during the early morning, so while he'd be visible, there wouldn't be many people to spot him either. Not to mention that with Rak's speed most people would simply think he was an illusion created by their drunken mind.

Sometime later, Rak made it to the building which Captain Grip frequented. The journey wasn't too short but neither was it too long as it was all the way at the other end of the island compared to the bar.

Once there Rak dropped down into an alleyway and made his way to a window at the bottom floor. "I'll just slowly open this up." Rak murmured to himself as he gripped the bottom of the window. He then pried the window open with his immense strength, trying to make as little sound as possible.

After prying it open Rak then entered the room, and immediately he felt like throwing up. 'Is this a brothel!? What the fuck.' Rak thought as he looked around the room. It had a large bed inside and had a thick disgusting stench. '....And now I have to wait here, why do I do this to myself?' Rak sighed before slowly opening the door of the room.

Looking outside the hallway was currently empty but it was similarly lined with various rooms, with a larger grander looking door at the end. 'Bingo.' Rak thought to himself before quietly shutting the door and heading to the larger door.

He then swiftly opened the door and entered the room. 'Luckily it was unlocked.' With that thought Rak then looked around the room once again. Thankfully the smell wasn't nearly as bad, but Rak could tell it was a premium room and likely to be where Captain Grip came.

Thus began Rak's wait for Captain Grip. 'In the mean time I might as well do my training.' And with that Rak began to aimlessly run around the room.
