Into the city

When Verlin approached the car, he could see his appearance in the window. He couldn't help being satisfied, although he didn't specify how we wanted to look. It's always better to be good-looking. Although this new look might stand out a bit, he was already a sore thumb with his new abilities, In fact his looks will probably be overshadowed by his powers which he didn't mind in the slightest.

When Verlin entered the car, Rachel smiled and started driving, Taking note of the silence she started talking with verlin, " I heard that you weighed quite a bit, several tons to be exact, I wonder how it is, that you can sit in a car with such little effect?". Verlin kept silent for a bit, but he finally came to a conclusion on why they sent her to follow him, She was here to gather Intel on his abilities. And she was right, the reason why her car wasnt feeling his weight was because, of his flying ability, which was like a telekinetic field around his body, So basically he was using his telekinetic field to offset his weight on the car, And this telekinetic field can not only surround him but things he is touching.

Verlin tried to change the subject and asked,

" Where exactly are we going?"

"Oh, we are going to City C, about 200 km away from here, so get comfortable."

Verlin didn't believe her because 2km ahead there was a sign saying City C in 60 km. Verlin sighed and said, " I know your job is to collect information about my abilities, but could you not try to test my abilities all the time, I'm trying to relax."

"Can you really blame me? An unidentified alien landed on the planet. Not only that, the said alien seems to be immune to our weapons. I have no choice but to try to see what you can do. What if you decide to go berserk and start destroying cities? What are we supposed to do then? So I'm sorry for taking up your 'relaxing time', but we have a country to protect." Rachel said all this in one breath. After Verlin heard all this, he realized he was really being insensitive to the situation.

" Look, I understand why you are anxious, but I'm serious when I say I mean no harm, Even I'm confused why I'm on this planet, but I can't leave yet. And if it makes you feel any better, I can show you some of my abilities so you don't have to keep guessing."

"Really?"

"Really."

" Ok then, explain why the car is still moving with all the extra weight."

"Well, that's mainly because I can fly."

As soon as Verlin said that, Rachel instantly hit the brakes, making verlin lean slightly forward.

" Are you for real?"

Seeing the doubt and shock on Rachel's face, Verlin was a bit smug and replied, "Want me to show you?"

"Hell yeah,"

Verlin exited the car. Seeing the anticipation on Rachel's face, Verlin got a little nervous, mainly because he hasn't really flown before except the time at the base, but that was only levitating a couple inches of the ground because of the lack of space. And it would be embarrassing to flop after all the bragging. He took a deep breath and started levitating of the ground. After getting the feeling, he started moving forward, but only slightly, he didn't know if his abilities would go haywire again and start causing a miniature disaster, after circling a few laps in the air. Verlin started gaining confidence. He looked down and saw the awe on Rachel's face and wanted to show off a bit.

Verlin levitated down and looked at Rachel, whose eyes were shining. After a couple of seconds, she regained her posture and said in a stern tone, " That's was quite impressive."

"I can do a lot more than just fly by myself,"

Verlin walked to the car and entered the passenger seat, wrapped his telekinetic field around the car, and it started levitating.

But Rachel realized she was on a mission, and the alien being able to fly wasn't a good thing. She firmly said, "Bring the car down."

Verlin was a bit stunned, but he still listened and brought the flying car to the ground. Rachel got into the driver seat but didn't turn on the car.she looked at verlin and said, "What are you doing? Take us to the city." She said all this with a straight face, but Verlin could hear her heart pounding. He smiled a bit and said, " Hold on to something." he wrapped his telekinetic field around the car as the car started to levitate and took off toward the city. This time, Rachel couldn't keep her straight face as a smile crept up to the side of her mouth.

A trip that would have taken 30 minutes was shortened down to 10, but since they couldn't fly through the city, they stopped at a side road about 5km away from the city before Rachel started driving again.

"So where do you want to go?" Rachel asked

"How about a library, I don't really know anything about this planet. It would be best to at least know the basic customs." Although he could try using his super hearing to find the information he needed, that seemed like far too much effort than it's worth.

"A library, huh? Trying to scout the planet for anything that can stop your invasion."

Verlin rolled his eyes and replied, " Your imagination is way too wild. You know, maybe one day, if I needed help invading a planet, I would come to you for advice." Soon after he finished talking, they reached the city, but verlin noticed something immediately. He could hear people mourning, and some crying for help.

He turned to Rachel and asked, " What happened here?"

"You happened. The shockwave from your little crash caused a mess in the city. The aftermath of the shockwave was much more than we anticipated. The damages are going to cost in the billions." Rachel said this with an indifferent voice, but she had a slight frown on her face.

Verlin fell silent for a couple of seconds before saying, "Im sorry, I didn't mean to do all this."

" You're saying that to the wrong person. No one I know ended up as a casualty. ". but seeing Verlins remorseful look, she said, " Dont feel too bad, at least you didn't land in the city, then there would be no city to mourn after."
