A Plausible Solution

Alexander nodded his head and said, " Let's go." He started walking to the conference room, Verlin followed behind him, and in no time, they reached the room. They both entered a room that looked like a courtroom, with 7 elevated seats at the head and a sitting area for the rest of the audience.

It seemed that they were the last ones to arrive as the place was packed, Verlin observed the room and was a bit astonished. Every single being in the room was an enhanced human, and the number in the hundreds, there were 657 excluding Alexander to be exact. As Verlin was observing the room and its inhabitants, they were also observing him.

Most of them didn't pay much attention after the first look. They had assumed Verlin was a new enhanced human as new ones pop up every once in a while. But some of them distinctively tensed up when they saw him. Verlin also noticed Chloe and Chleopatra sitting in a corner, He could see Chloe waving at him and calling him over.

Verlin nodded at Alexander and walked over to where Chloe and her aunt were seated. Alexander walked up to the set of elevated chairs. There were 6 other people seated there, and they looked noticeably older than the other enhanced humans.

Alexander nodded as a greeting to the other 6 and sat in the middle of the elevated seats, assuming his position as the leader. After Alexander took his seat, the once noisy room quieted down. Alexander started speaking,

" Today, I have brought this meeting together to come to a final decision on the soon to begin conflict."

"All opposed to getting involved in the war raise your hand."

Almost exactly half of the audience raised their hands, Verlin noticed that Chloe and Chleopatra sitting beside him didn't have their hands raised. This didn't seem to suprise anyone as this wasn't the first time this has happened, It was just a check to see if anyone had a change of mind.

Alexander nodded his head and said, " All in favor of getting involved, raise your hand."

Once again, half of the enhanced humans raised their hands, this time, Chloe and Chleopatra had their hands raised. When Chloe noticed that Verlin didn't raise his hand, she nudged him on the side, but Verlin didn't react.

After a couple of seconds, everyone had put their hands down as they waited for the person tallying the count. Chloe whispered to Verlin in a silent but angry tone, saying, " Why didn't you put your hands up."

Verlin replied, " I don't think I'm supposed to vote. You know I'm not an enhanced human."

After listening to his reason, Chloe calmed down a little bit. Right after the vote counter said, " The votes seemed to lean a bit in favor of getting involved in the war, but Silver hair over there didn't seem to have voted."

Everyone in the room seemed to have turned their heads toward Verlin. Verlin looked at Alexander, and when he saw Alexander nod his head in approval, Verlin said, " I vote to oppose getting involved in the war."

The vote counter nodded their head and said, "That will bring the votes back to a stalemate."

Chloe elbowed Verlin on the side, this time making an audible noise like the sound of a hammer pounding on iron, Everyone stared at Chloe as she lowered her head in embarassment

Alexander cleared his throat to regain the room's attention. "Given that we are at a stalemate," he started, his deep voice echoing throughout the room, "I have come to a conclusion that would appease both sides."

After a slight pause, he continued and said, " Given that direct involvement isn't an option, we'll dispatch four dedicated teams tasked with neutralizing the technology each federation has received. In addition, they will infiltrate their systems to eradicate any information pertaining to the said technology.Through this strategy, even if the conflict persists, we can substantially mitigate the scale of casualties."

As soon as Alexander finished talking, the room was filled with silent chatter, Chloe seemed to think the idea wasn't bad, and although they couldn't stop the war, they would minimize casualties.

Alexander allowed the information to sink in before he continued. "I understand this decision involves a lot of responsibility and risks. Each one participating in this mission must be aware of the stakes. I trust in our collective strength and intellect to see this through."

"Now, all in favor of the new plan, raise your hands."

This time, more than 87% of the enhanced humans raised their hands, but this was enough for them to implement a plan, as long as 85% of the votes come to a singular agreement, it becomes validated.

Alexander smiled and nodded his head, " Those assigned to be part of the mission will be informed shortly after, and with that, the meeting is adjourned."

Everyone started standing up from there seated positions and exiting the room, Verlin stood up and was about to leave when Chloe grabbed his arm, he turned her with his eyebrows raised and said, " What's up?"

Chloe's eyebrows tighened and said, " What do you mean, 'What's up'. I thought you of all people would have wanted to stop the war."

"Where did you get that idea from?"

"I know you're the masked blur."

Verlin looked at Chleopatra, who was pretending to be using her phone this and said, " That's completely different. Those were street crimes at best. This involves an entire species and the whole planet."

"What about the plane that you saved."

"If I didn't catch it, it would have landed on my head."

Chloe sighed, " You know, people believed in the masked blur. I also believed in the masked blur."

Verlin shook his head and said, " That doesn't matter now, There is already a solution."

Chloe looked Verlin right in the eye and said, "So if there was no plan, you would have chosen to see the world collapse?"

Verlin was taken aback but replied, " I'm just doing what I think is best."

"Well, what you think is best isn't good enough. Just know that your decision could have cost millions of lives."

" I know."

Chloe let go of his hand and walked towards the exit, Chleopatra put her phone back in her pocket and said, " Don't let what she said get to you, Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, she just thought you would be more like her."

Verlin nodded his head and watched as Chleopatra followed behind Chloe. Verlin was left alone in the room and couldn't help but think about what Chloe said. He still didn't think he was wrong. ' Maybe it's because they don't understand the extent of my power.' He muttered to himself.

If he were to pick a Federation to support, there would be no other possible outcome except the federation of his choosing winning. So even if he was gonna let the war happen, he still felt like he was a good person.

Verlin shook his head and walked out of the room. Since Chloe was fine now, he was gonna focus on other things. The first was the recreation of the miniature star he had seen before.
