Chapter 3

When Autumn woke up, the sun was high in the sky. She carefully lowered herself out of the tall white and gold tree.

Autumn dusted off her clothes, which consisted of a black shirt, pants, and boots. Sitting over her shoulders was a long black hooded cloak. The only splash of color was the blue heart pendant around her neck. The necklace had belonged to her mother and had the ability to store items.

Eclipse had worn all black in order to blend into the shadows of the forest, and Autumn could care less about what she wore.

Walking through the forest and searching for water, Autumn soon grew irritated at how slow she was traveling. After all, she was in the body of a 7-year-old, and her short legs simply couldn't walk far enough.

Suddenly, a light bulb went off above Autumn's head. She exclaimed, "I can shift into a wolf! How could I have ever forgotten about that?"

Shaking her head, Autumn raced through her memories, quickly finding out how to change forms. She closed her eyes, Picturing a small midnight-black wolf with emerald-green eyes.

When she opened her eyes again, her line of sight had lowered, making the already tall trees seem taller. Although her wolf form was still a pup, wolves were known for their ability to travel long distances quickly.

Autumn was soon was sprinting across the forest towards what seemed to be a rushing river. She relished in the feeling of wind in her fur, the beautiful taste of freedom.

Being so caught up in her thoughts, Autumn barely realized when she had arrived at the river, only panicking when she no longer felt the ground underneath her paws.

Her eyes widened as she fell with a splash into the rushing water. Autumn paddled through the water, struggling to escape the rough current.

Her head was pushed beneath the water and her heart almost leaped out of her chest. She could hear the blood pounding in her ears, could feel the tightness of her chest as she slowly ran out of air.

Autumn's thought swirled around her head. 'No! I can't die like this! I just got here!'

Her head broke through the surface of the water, and with renewed energy, began paddling towards the riverbank. Hauling herself up, she lay there for an indefinite period of time, breathing heavily. 'Never again,' She thought.

When she had finally caught her breath, Autumn shakily stood up, shaking out her fur and inching her way to the river. After taking a long drink of water to calm her nerves, Autumn walked over to a large flat rock and lay down in the sun to dry off, after all, she looked like a drowned rat.

Autumn blinked lazily in the bright sunlight, letting the heat soak into her pelt and lure her into a drowsy slumber.

Meanwhile, a group of adventurers made their way through the dense forest, trying their best to stay silent, yet the quiet crunching of leaves gave them away.

Adventurers were humans with more potential, and when that potential awakened, they could choose to ignore it, or train and further increase their skills.

There were different classes of adventurers, swordsmen, mages, assassins, and archers were the most common, however, there were also subclasses like priests and knights.

Adventurers were ranked from S to F, S being the best, and F being the worst.

The group of adventurers had been looking for a Spirit Animal, but it was no surprise that with the amount of noise they were making, most had fled the area, not wanting to get tangled up with them, all except a certain Spirit Wolf sleeping in the sunlight...
