Chapter 2

Autumn slowly opened her eyes. Blinking, she took in the looming white and gold trees. 'This isn't Earth anymore,' She thought.

Looking down at her hands, she noted that she was probably in Eclipse's body, which meant that...she had a pair of cute ears and a tail.

Autumn laughed, not at all fazed by Eclipse's warning. 'A whole new world,' She thought, 'How exciting.' Since she was little, she had always wanted to travel the world, but her circumstances made it difficult for her to fulfill her dream.

Suddenly, an unbearable headache assaulted her. Holding her head in her hands, Autumn struggled to comprehend all the information that was rushing into her memory.

As Eclipse's life flashed through her head, Autumn felt her heart ache. The young girl had gone through so many hardships.

Her father had been murdered when she was 3. This caused her mother to go into grief and had only lived on because of Eclipse.

When she was 6, her mother had fallen ill. Eclipse's mother had endured immense pain for another year, teaching Eclipse all she knew. Now, Eclipse was 7, and her mother had passed away only a month ago.

Autumn sighed, shaking her head. As much as she was grateful to Eclipse for letting her live another life, she didn't want to spend her new life looking for the culprit of her father's murder, however, if she stumbled upon them, that would be an added bonus.

Autumn had already decided that she would live only for herself. Nothing would tie her down, she was free, free to go fulfill her dream.

She sighed, miserably stating, "Now time to go sort out my head..." Autumn shifted through her newly acquired memories, committing the necessary information to memory and leaving the rest to sort out when it was needed.

Autumn was on the planet of Everlife, in the Dark Forest. Everlife was where fantasy met reality, where dragons, elves, and so much more roamed the mystical world. Autumn herself was one of these creatures. A Spirit Animal.

Spirit Animals were one of the few intelligent species on Azure, looking very similar to humans, only sporting features of the animal they could shift into. Autumn was a wolf, which made her a Spirit Wolf.

There were many other species of Spirit Animals such as Spirit Dragons and Spirit Lions, but they were all predators. Spirit Fish simply didn't exist.

Spirit Animals had the abilities of the animal they could turn into, such as enhanced sight, smell, or hearing. Their human form did not hinder their abilities. Although they looked similar to humans, they were in fact, mortal enemies.

According to Eclipse's memories, her mother had portrayed them to be vicious, cruel, and evil. Autumn decided she wouldn't judge them too quickly but would be on guard in case they decided to capture her. Apparently, they liked to capture and enslave various creatures, with Spirit Animals being quite popular.

Autumn smirked. Unfortunately, most Spirit Animals would kill them on sight. So far, Autumn didn't have a good impression of the humans, she only knew that had a liking to capturing creatures, and if Autumn wanted to explore the world, being captured was not a good place to start.

Azure was much like Earth. All living beings needed energy to survive. Food, water, and Soul Stones could supply energy. A Soul Stone was the soul of a Shadow Haunter.

The stronger the Shadow Haunter was, the more energy their Soul Stone contained. They were ranked on a scale from 1 to 5, with rank 1 Soul Stones containing more energy than rank 5 Soul Stones.

Shadow Haunters had taken the energy from the surroundings and created a being made purely of energy, one that wouldn't rest until there was no more energy left in the world. The human adventurers had wanted to create a being able to absorb and grow stronger on the life force of other beings, and they had done exactly that. The population of this dangerous lab experiment could multiply at a shockingly fast rate.

Slowly, Autumn's thoughts had changed. She knew that she was in a different world, and so far, the humans were corrupt evil beings that she would need to steer clear from.

As Autumn felt the beginning of yet another headache, she stopped looking through various animals, plants, and fighting moves. Getting up, she stretched, yawning.

She quickly climbed up a nearby tree and fell asleep on a branch.
