Breakthrough...Level Up!
As the final gunshot rang out and then faded into the wind, or, into bird's brain, the rain that had relentlessly pelted the earth began to dwindle and stop.
"Phew..."
Zed with a grunt of effort, extricated himself from under the weighty, feathered carcass of the creature he had just slain.
He had the feeling if he didn't move quickly, he might very well have been squashed till apnea beneath the corpe's staggering mass.
The creature's head had been blown apart, its cerebrospinal fluid splattered in an oddly geometric pattern, like a grisly piece of abstract art.
Zed had left his pistol lodged in the creature's skull. It didn't matter now, the clip was empty anyway. The gun was of no use without ammo.
"Well, at least this thing is dead for sure," he mused, running his fingers along the bristles of his chin as he scrutinized the fallen avian creature.
'Since it's dead, the next concern is the spoils...'
