Yvonne reminded her husband to send off Howland and his troops to Westalis. King Villiers nodded and left the princess's room with a very heavy feeling.

Yvonne, who was left alone, asked her lady-in-waiting to make a cup of tea. She waited for her daughter alone while knitting. Sometimes, she glanced at where Rosie was sleeping so soundly.

When her lady-in-waiting returned with a pot of tea and a new porcelain cup, Yvonne stopped knitting. She looked at the steam rising from the tip of the teapot as hot water was poured into the cup. 

Yvonne's eyes then caught a shirt that had fallen under the couch. She ordered her lady-in-waiting to take it. At the same time, she found a needle and thread still hanging on the shirt. 

Yvonne sniffed the scent of the shirt and found the smell of men's cologne. She knew who had this scent. 

"Your Highness?" asked the lady-in-waiting who was worried to see the queen's jaw clenched hard.
