Level up

I don't have much use for it right now so I break that stick like a crystal. I swung it here and there a few times to get the hang of it and nodded my head with satisfaction.

I looked around for suitable prey who was not in the pack and I found one just near me. He was slumped on a magic crystal as well.

I went close towards it and looked at it for a few minutes. It seems like my thoughts were correct even though very slowly the slime was dissolving the Magic crystal.

I shivered at the thought of putting my bare hands inside it. I quickly snapped out of these thoughts by shaking my head.

After snapping out I slowly poked the slime with the stick and the reaction was scary. The slime was trying to climb the stick but I quickly pulled it back.

It seems like I only have one chance to kill this thing. I aimed the tip of the stick at the elemental core of the slime and after taking a few deep breaths I had my 100% focus on the core.

Using most of my strength I pushed the stick directly passing through the membrane of the slime and reaching its core. The moment the core came in contact with the stick it was thrown out along with the tip of the stick.

The slime without its core lost the blue colour in it and became completely transparent before falling on the ground like water.

I saw that I got 10 Exp from killing the slime. Before I could think of anything else I heard the notification sound and a screen opened in front of my eyes.

Automatically this screen disappears and a new screen appears in front of me.

'Other thing is that you can't use the items I have without any form of payment. I have added something in the system which will help you retrieve everything I have after completing certain targets and meeting certain conditions.'

So the Quest System is a thing created for me. Well, I actually liked it. At least I will have a good reason to do stuff I don't want to and there will also be rewards.

Seeing the quest was just to kill 10 Slimes and with how easy it was to kill these little blobs I decided to accept the quest.

Before my killing spree starts I decided to check and Appraise the elemental core lying on the ground.

I picked it up. It truly looked like a crystalline marble with a navy blue coloured dense centre which became less dense until it became completely transparent blue colour when it reached the outermost layer and surface.

[Description] A core created from essense of the element itself. It can be used to create items related to a particular element. The higher the purity of an element the higher the rank.

The description was again simple and easy to understand. This marble was just like Magic crystal but instead of mana it carried elemental energy or essence.

I kept this core near a rock because even though this was an ingredient I had no use for it right now.

I walked towards another slime who was out of the group and killed it in the similar fashion as above. This time I did it more efficiently and effectively.

I felt my body glowing for a few seconds along with a pleasurable but indescribable feeling coursing through my body. It was as if I was on cloud nine. After sometime I returned to reality and I was now worried about this feeling instead of being happy. This will surely become intoxicating and addictive to the point that it might cause me to go on a level up frenzy which would be anything but good.

A small screen was opened at the corner of my eye showing my current state of the Quest. It went up when I killed the slime. After leveling up I decided to check my status.

My level went to 2 and as shown all of my stats went up to 3 but along with that the exp required for reaching the next level also became doubled.

'If I keep leveling up like this then at one point I will reach at such a level that no one will be able to match me but at the same time to advance to the next level I will have to...' I shuddered at my own thoughts and shook my head to forget about that matter as it was still a far away future.

I decided to keep on hunting until the small Quest screen reached the number 10.

When I saw the screen I stopped my slime killing spree. I reached the next level as well but before checking my status screen I decided to check my Quest screen which was showing that the Quest was completed. It was showing a new option of collect which was beside the reward option.

'Collect'

When I thought that a new screen about my rewards appeared.
