Chapter 2 The Princess Consort payback plan

The room was lively as a young girl with long blonde hair and green eyes was laying on her bed reading, her name was Melanie Don Bar. As Melanie hummed as she read a book, she was waiting for the Duke's daughter. She heard all rumors of her being a spoiled naive girl. Maybe, she can manipulate her to get her way in the palace. Melanie was the prince's concubine because she drugged him to live an elite life.

She was not going to marry an ugly merchant and wanted a prince. Only to be a concubine. She resented that the Duke daughter can only be a crown princess. If she manages to removes Flavia then she can be the princess consort.

As Melanie flipped a page, she was startled by the door opening. I walked in to greet her with grace. My eyes were looking down on her with pure arrogance.

"You stupid slut." I said without hesitation as I looked her in the eye.

"Excuse-" My hand meet her cheek as she looked dumbfounded. She double backed only for my hand to grip her face.

"You married into the royal family to escape marriage but dare disrespect the royal family. You know my bath products were strictly for me! If the emperor hears that a mere concubine was disrespecting me and using imperial gifts of the niece, you would be beheaded."

Melanie eyes widdened as she trembled and looked with fear. I walked away speechless as I heard her plead quietly. I smirked and ignore her as she reached a hand out.

"P-Please, spare me."

"What was that?"

"Please!"

I heard her wailed quietly and smirked even more. I turned around and crossed my arms with a frown.

"I can just tell the emperor what happened and get some more. He still won't be pleased with the fact his niece was being belittled by a mere concubine."

"No, I apologize! I will never do it again I swear!"

Cried Melanie as she clutched the edge of her corset, fidgeting with it.

"Good, I'll keep this on the low, but if I catch you dwelling around my items again, without my permisson, I will end you and your whole family!"

I walked out the room and sighed as I was walking back to my room I get greeted by a butler who was walking in my direction.

"My grace, the Emperor and the prince your husband, are waiting for you. He wanted to check in on you."

"The Prince and the Emperor?" I followed the butler to the main meeting room of the palace. I hesitate to open the door and I took a deep breath.

'Those I wronged in the past please forgive me in this life.' I open the door and the first thing my eyes adjusted to was my uncle talking to the prince.

'They say he was a fool and unfavored...but here he was holding an conversation about politics.'

"My dear Flavia my niece, have a seat. You both are my favorite children! I should say my daughter-in-law now, I'll call you my daughter and you may call me father instead as well."

I was dumbfounded by this change of formal events. So was this an act all along? In my last life they said he was a fool and the Emperor killed him off because he was useless.

"Flavia, Enzo has been saying you were such a dear wife. The maids are saying you are cruel but you only know whats right in the imperial palace. I told you the imperial palace is not a game and you exceeded my expectations." The Emperor walked down at the window and looked at the bustling courtyard.

"I've been thinking...I want to take away Silas position and give it to Enzo."

'Did my ears deceive me, I didn't have to do much in this life to get revenge on Silas and Rita?'

"Father, I can't possibly be crown prince now, everyone still thinks I'm a fool!" Enzo voice was clear cut in the matter.

"I know, Enzo. I know. That's why we are going to trick him, he has been bribing officials and almost assasinated me twice. That's why we are going to call in a doctor to "cure" you."

I was speechless. I wanted to tell them my rebirth but I'll wait until Enzo leave. I should only tell uncle. I want my revenge and I don't mind Silas falling into the depths of disparity along with his play thing.

"Enzo, I agree with father's plan. Silas has been acting out of line lately and we must end this appropriately with caution." I stated while walking up to the emperor.

I thought I saw a smile creep onto Enzo's face from the corner of my eye but it must be my imagination.

"You are right, Flavia. Things can't get out of hand. I believe we should start slow. Besides the Empress niece, Rita is coming to stay in the palace and the Empress thinks she can marry her to one of the other prince's."

'Wait, Rita, is the empress's niece? How come I didn't know...No wonder why she goes over to the Empress palace alot, they are related. If you think of it they sort of look alike.'

"Rita." I quietly mumbled. 'This is a change of events. How come my life changed drastically now? Rita isn't suppose to come until later in the year during winter because her home country is going through a winter famine. She saw Silas at the winter banquet dancing with me and fell in love with him.'

Enzo wasn't thinking much into, the mumbles but he was interested about my mood. My eyes bore hatred towards the Empress, she gave me the same dress Rita tempered with while uncle was extremely sick on that day and it fell apart at the banquet. Not only did she took the advantage of my uncle illness to punish me severely but she made the gaurds whip me hard to the point I was covered in scars.

Uncle punished her for a year without allowances but at the expense of her niece being happy while I was recovering in pain. Uncle couldn't trust me alone with the Empress after that incident but I was disfigured even more after to the point I was considered ugly and unwanted. I must take the opportunity to squander this moment for Rita.

"Uncle, since Rita is coming to the palace let's throw a banquet to show her off to the prince's." I chimed in with a smile but deep down I was smiling eternally.

"Good Idea, my good daughter-in-law is so smart! My good child, I'll leave the banquet preparations in your hands. I'll try to consult the Empress and see what she thinks." The Emperor walked off to the Empress's palace as Enzo and I stayed behind in the study. I wanted to tell him of my pastlife but he just left, how fustrating.

We stared at each other in silence before he walked up to me, he was handsome and his eyes were a golden color. The color of the Emperor and his eyes were the signal of royalty. His hair was a blonde mess like a child with ruffled up hair. His eyes studied me and grimaced.

"I can't believe I married such an ugly girl." He pouted as he sighed.

"Hey!!!" I screamed at him in disbelief. I finally got my looks back and this is the compliment I'm given. I was raised on pearl dust, milk and rose petals to become blemish free. It felt like an arrow pieced my chest.

"I can't believe I married such a stupid prince! Can't even do magic properly!"

"Take that back!"

"Don't call me ugly then!"

Our argument could be heard by the maids and butlers outside the room. We glare at each other before his lips curled into a smirk.

"Well, if you really want to look more beautiful for your banquet, let's go to the salon in town."

"No, need! I'll do it myself! I'm on my way to see the Empress anyways. It's costumes after marriage!" I huffed as I stormed out the room as I stormed out the room leaving Enzo. I felt a dread as I bumped into someone familiar.

"Oh, Flavia?" the voice for a minute was scarily familar. "Such a beauty became my brother's wife. Such a shame.

I look up and instantly my eyes widdened with fear and memories of my past life flooded back.

"S-Silas? What bringed you here?" I mustered up as he looked down at me with his usual easy going smile.

'Disgusting. Aren't you suppose to be getting ready to see the new arriving "Princess" or your future lover, scum.'

"I came to see father but I met you, it must be fate still."
