When Aura got off the train, he was greeted with a scene of chaos. People on the streets were clamoring about what was going on, and police cars with their sirens turned on were attempting to keep the unruly crowd in check. Aura muscled his way through the crowd and made his way to his front door. He unlocked the door to be greeted with his sister running towards him.

"Brother, you're finally back! I was getting worried about you, with the strange things happening and you being alone outside."

"Let's go inside and talk, I'm sure there's a lot of questions you have about what happened tonight."

As soon as they sat down on the sofa, Lydian launched a barrage of words at him.

"Aura, right after the weird earthquake, this bright blue orb appeared in my head along with some lines of text!"

"Ah, yes. That blue orb is your soul, and the text shows basic information about you. Health is a numerical representation of how healthy you are, it decreases when you're hurt and goes to zero when you die. Constitution affects your endurance, maximum health, and how resistant you are to poisons and disease. Strength is how strong you are, and agility is how fast and flexible you are. Defense is how resistant you are to attacks. Mana is how strong your soul is and how much energy it has."

"Wow, how do you know so much about this, Aura?"

"I can't say where I got this information from, but maybe I can tell you in the future. Can you tell me what your stats are?" Lydian read off what she saw.

"It's not good, it's amazing! 15 is practically the highest value a human can get!"

"What does 'contracted monster' mean?"

Aura open up the news, scrolled down, and showed it to his sister. "You see all these wild beast attacks? Notice how they all happened after the strange events at midnight? They aren't normal animals, they're monsters that have absorbed mana. Humans have the ability to contract these monsters, hence the 'Monster Trainer' in your stats." Aura opened his palm and summoned Puppet. "See, this is your brother's first monster."

Lydian poked it and the Leafy Marionette twitched. "Ew, it's so ugly." Aura laughed. She was the same as she was in the past. Previously, Lydian would only contract monsters that were beautiful, specializing in earth, specifically crystal, type monsters. "I'll help you get a pretty one for your first contract."

"Awesome! Thank you!"

"It's late now, let's get ready to rest." Lydian nodded and went into her room, preparing to sleep. Aura took his holopad and scrolled through the news articles. Fantastical headlines were all he could see. "Strange Earthquake Shakes the Globe!" "The Moon Turns Blue!" "Giant Mutated Beast Attacks!" "The End of the World?"

Aura sighed. In his previous life, he was also one of those people panicking about what was happening. He switched off the lights, laid back, and fell asleep, refreshing himself for the next day.
