He furrowed his brow and stepped forward, "what did you do to her?" Karyan raised his voice as he was getting closer.
"I gave her a little medicine of her own, what, you don't like it?"
Karyan saw how a black bug hid underneath her clothes, "just what the fuck was that?"
"Oh, please," she waved her hand, "don't act like you've never seen a bug before."
Karyan squatted down and picked Nedeira in his arms, feeling her pulse and a heartbeat, he let out a long sigh.
"Did you try to stop her heart?"
"Maybe!" Reverie shook her shoulders and rolled her eyes after.
"How did you do that?"
"Who cares, right? I have talents, gifts," she leaned closer to him, "like you have your snake and venom, serpent master, I have my bugs…" she opened her mouth and smiled, quite creepily.
"What do you want? Why are you really here?" He asked while glaring at her.
"A coincidence for us to meet, no?"
"Coincidences like this don't happen, tell me your real reason. Why are you here?"
"Okay, okay!" She shrugged her shoulders, breathed in and then out, "I guess there's really no hiding anymore."
Reverie got herself comfortable on a chair she was sitting before, tapped her fingers on the table while Karyan was just watching her and then looked at him, their eyes met.
"I know you're a serpent master, and that girl," she pointed with her head, "is a mind wielder…."
Karyan smirked, "what about it?"
"Yes, what about it, since you're no fun and so impatient, let me get to the point."
Karyan listened, "I escaped the labaratory your girlfriend was tortured many years ago, and I'm here to seek revenge."
"If you're seeking revenge, I think you're in a wrong place, and even country."
"I came to look for her at first, but then I saw you too…and I remember how that time you saved my life."
"Where were they taking you back then?"
"To the same labaratory…" Reverie sighed.
"Did they catch you again or something? It's been so long, how long did it take for you to find Nedeira then?"
"I was caught…well, thanks to your grandfather, I suppose…." Reverie rolled her eyes again.
"Mateo? What does he have to do with it?"
"When the snake disappeared from his sight, he heard about two living elements, the labaratory already had Nedeira, but she escaped, and then they found me."
"How did they find you?"
"Not directly find me, but they kidnapped me and killed my father right in front of me, to unleash my element."
"Why did Mateo need you?"
"To kill me…like he did with you."
"…"
"I know, I know…you survived and came back to life," she rolled her whole head now, "however, when I was imprisoned by them, I heard them talk about the spirit…we need to destroy it."
Karyan's lips curled into a smile, a pleasant one, "and how are you willing to do that?"
"The spirit…as much as I know, it belongs to the royal family, but the royal family doesn't exist anymore."
Karyan placed Nedeira's sleeping body on a chair, and walked closer to Reverie, "lower your voice," he commanded her, "what do you mean? That useless king must be alive somewhere."
"Ah, you didn't know?" She mocked him with her tone.
"Didn't know what?"
"Karyan, I will tell you this once, the royal family's lineage is destroyed…"
"You're lying…no way someone could kill the king."
"No, that's not it, handsome…." Reverie stood up, facing Karyan and staring deep inside his soul, "your grandfather is soon going to get that throne and take everything over…the country and elements with spirit's help…"
This couldn't possibly be true…Karyan knew the king would've survived, all these element wielders protecting the throne, him.
That's why it was hard for him to get to the king himself, this couldn't be true.
Karyan needed to kill the king himself, he needed to be the one to cut his throat and feed it to Sera.
He was behind his death, that stupid king, believing in everything Mateo was feeding him, this couldn't…
"Well, well…I know the feeling…but I'm curious about something," Reverie opened her mouth and played with her tongue, "which one do you hate the most? The king or your grandfather, sorry," she corrected herself, your old friend Mateo…?"
Reverie's smile spread across her face like some mental illness or a skin disease. It was creepy, calm and confident.
Even her tone was mocking, her eyes were telling the truth. They were glinting with something, some desperation for revenge…she too wanted it.
"How would I know you're not lying to me?"
"You don't have to trust me, matter of fact, you don't even need to believe me, but…" she paused, "go to Rexara and witness it for yourself…"
"Do you think your words intimidate me? Is this a threat?"
Reverie's eyes stopped shining, her face expression immediately turned more serious, "no! I'm not threatening you. Not at all!" Her tone was more friendly.
"I came here to get your help in fighting the spirit and your grandfather!"
"So what is the point of teasing? I will kill Mateo with my own hands, if needed."
"But hey…do you want revenge?"
"I will get it, even if some people slipped through my hands already…how did the king die?"
"Well, I said his lineage, not him…" Reverie pouted, trying to act cute.
"I beg your pardon?"
"The king is alive…after his family was mysteriously murdered, he managed to escape and flee…"
Karyan clenched his fists, his lips curled in disgust, "so where is he then?"
"Well, that's the thing…you won't believe it…he ran away to a foreign country."
"Fucking coward…"
"But I know where he is, and I might tell you, if you promise to be a good bo-"
Before Reverie managed to end her sentence, Karyan grabbed her by her throat, and squeezed it.
"Do you think I'm here to play?" He pressed harder.
"Ugh, geh, ghhh…" she was gasping and trying to escape from him.
"Drop your games and tell me, where is he?" His eyes glinted with a golden hue.
"He-he…"
"Tell me!" He ordered.
"Please, I can-can't br-breathe!" Her face turned red like a crimson sun.
Karyan released his hand, and without waiting for her to grasp for more air, he pushed for answers, "where is the king?"
"The king is the sorcerer that Nedeira works for…"
