Chapter 41

Lucifer was happy Augustus called him today. "How are you, Lucifer?" Augustus asked.

"I'm fine," Lucifer responds, grinning.

"What of our guests?" Augustus asked, "I hope you aren't giving them a hard time or arguing with them all the time," he said, slowly.

Lucifer huffs angrily and looks away. "You think so little of me," he said angrily. "Do you think I go around arguing with people I don't like?"

"I don't know," Augustus replies. "I'm not there to monitor your behavior," he said.

Lucifer's mouth was opened agape in disbelief. "How dare you? No, seriously, how dare you?" he said dramatically.

Augustus laughed at him. Lucifer also wanted to laugh, but he held back and tried to act upset. However, this act couldn't be held up, he too began laughing.

"Speaking of people you don't like," Augustus said. "Xavier wants to talk to you."

Lucifer raised an eyebrow. The Hero wants to talk to him. Why? "Okay," he said sounding a bit confused. "Let me talk to him."

The screen turned to Aiden's side and Lucifer saw that he was conflicted about something. "Yes, you wanted to talk to me?" Lucifer questioned. "Here I am, so speak."

Aiden sighed. "Please, can help me protect Hiro in my absence," he begged.

Please. Help. Two words Lucifer never thought he'd hear the Hero Aiden say to him. "Didn't I already tell you that you don't need to tell me to protect him?" Lucifer asked.

"You did?" Aiden said in confusion, he had clearly forgotten Lucifer had told him so.

"Yes, I did, stupid idiot," Lucifer responds. "Hiro is one of my people," he said. "I don't just leave my people out to die."

Aiden looked relieved by Lucifer's promise. "Seriously, you are such a stupid underling," Lucifer said proceeding to insult Aiden.

"Who are you calling your underling?" Aiden said, raising his voice slightly. "Sorry," he apologizes to Augustus.

"Don't tell me you forgot, I beat your pathetic ass, and you have to be my little underling for the rest of eternity," Lucifer said mischievously.

Aiden groans and stands. "I-I'm leaving, I won't argue with you today," he said. Lucifer saw him walking away and then began snickering.

"You are a bully," Augustus said.

"No, I'm not," Lucifer responded.

"Alright," Augustus said. "It's almost time for dinner here, I should get going."

Lucifer shuddered at the thought of the awful-looking food. "You are brave for eating such a meal," he said.

"It doesn't taste as bad as it looks," Augustus said.

Lucifer shook his head, "Your suffering would soon come to an end, young warrior."

Augustus laughed a bit before saying goodbye and ending the call.

When the call ended. Lucifer finally noticed the gods were looking at him. He slowly stopped smiling. "What?" he said in confusion.

"You're in love," Apollo said.

Lucifer made a weird face. "No, I'm not," he replies.

"Really?" Apollo said.

"You are acting like Dionysus whenever he has the opportunity to drink," Artemis said leaning against the table.

Lucifer scrunches his face. "No, I don't," he said. "He's my partner..." Lucifer said, then thought if he was saying it right. "Yes, my partner," he confirmed.

"Partner, huh?" Athena said, before proceeding to ask, "So if you were to save someone, Augustus or Rosetta, who would you choose?"

Lucifer's brain froze. He was quiet for a while. "I'll save the both of them," he replies.

"No, you can only save one," Apollo said.

"I am not incompetent," Lucifer said. "I have the ability to save both, so why wouldn't I?"

His mood was going down drastically. "Alright," Athena said.

'Eventually, he would come across a situation that would force him to choose,' the Goddess of Wisdom thought, looking at the Demon King. 'What would his decision be by then?'

After a while of silence, there was a knock on the door. "Young Masters and Ladies, dinner be served in ten minutes," a servant said from the other end of the door.

"Oh, we're coming," Lucifer said. He wondered what Rosetta was going to make this time around.

The blonde man sat in front of the window, looking down at the city. "Have you found the identity of the mysterious savior from the mall attack?" he asked.

"No, sire," Mark, Rosetta's old friend, replies, bowing slightly, before raising his head. "The security footage wasn't very clear on who the person was."

The man sneers disdainfully. "That doesn't matter right now at the moment," he said.

"What of the woman working for the second prince?" the blonde man said.

"Getting her to let down her guard is a bit difficult, sire," Mark replied his voice was void of any emotion. "However there is a piece of information I believe you would be interested in, sire," he said.

"What is it?" the man asks.

"It seems the second prince finally has a fiancé," Mark said.

"The Cruz family brat?" the man questioned.

"No," Mark replies. "It's someone else," he said. "The son of the Davis family."

The man thought of where he had heard that name before. "Is the father a businessman?"

"Yes," Mark replies. "Mr. Davis is the CEO of the Dav automobile company."

'Oh?' the man thought a bit surprised. "I heard they aren't a happy family," he said.

"I don't know the entire story, sire," Mark said.

The blonde man turned to Mark. "It doesn't matter," he said. "Contact the woman working for the second prince and see when she has time to see you again. If she doesn't have time, don't contact her anymore, she won't be useful."

"Of course, sire," Mark said bowing a bit.

"You may leave now."

Mark left the room. Once he steps out he sighs out in relief. 'Why does Rosetta have to be involved in this?' he thought.

However, he had no other choice but to contact her. He has to obey his employer, this is the contract he signed when he first started here.

"Hello, Rosetta," he said when she picked up the phone. "Are you free this weekend?"
