2 Chapter 2 - Escape

Crack…

Crack… Crack…

A small cracking sound turned into a loud cracking sound.

Crack crack crack…

Pieces of stone fell to the cold stone floor, dropping violently.

Crack crack crack crack crack.

The harmonious statue of a seven year old child began to crumble, the stone on the surface of the statue falling off at a rapidly rising speed. The stone that had covered the statue all ended up upon the floor.

The young, frail child that was once stone collapsed onto the floor, panting weakly. Her face was deathly pale, sweat pouring down her small head.

Coldness pressed against her skin as her hands clutched the stone below her with all her strength.

Pain enveloped her as she curled up, the rags on her body reducing the pain slightly. Every part of body felt as if it were on fire, a terrible burning sensation taking control of her. She had never felt pain so terrible as this in her entire life.

Her mind was overcome with pure agony as she let out a piercing scream. The scream felt to relieve a bit of her pain and she could finally look around without wincing.

Surprise appeared on her face.

A cellar…?

Cobwebs gathered at the corners of the stone cellar, with only the lonesome girl to accompany them. The spiders had died and their carcasses were already gone, leaving the empty webs without owners. The cellar was empty so no life could survive with the exception of the little girl.

Wasn't she in a forest when she had begun her ritual? Why had she finished at a dusty, stone cellar? Even if one of them took her with them, which she doubted they would, they wouldn't have left in in this filthy place…

What was going on?

Then light but hurried footsteps reached her ears and her eyes narrowed.

The wooden door bursted open and a cautious figure appeared.

"Who dares go in here?" A guard yelled, pointing his spear into the cellar aggressively. He wore a white robe with a symbol of a gold castle on both the back and front.

His clothing was sewn with yellow silk and red gemstones, showing his incredible wealth.

The guard glanced around and his widened, so wide that his pupil nearly disappeared. His lip quivered and his spear made a small clunk sound when it bounced off the stone floor. He then began trembling uncontrollably and the girl wondered if she had been spotted.

She had hid behind a stone wall, using her powers to conceal her presence. She doubted this little guard could detect her as her powers were a much higher caliber that they couldn't even be compared. However that was here peak, before she had been through the ritual.

She had no idea how her power measured now so she did not dare assume.

Noticing his reaction maybe he did notice her after all…

In her mind she hmphed in dissatisfaction. She wasn't that pretty but not that ugly for someone to give her that reaction. So what if she only had the body of a seven year old, she still didn't like people looking at her like that.

But unexpectedly he then ran off, not even bothering to pick up his spear.

When confirming he really was gone, she walked through the opened door cautiously. Why had the guard ran off so hurriedly. No matter how sharp and quick her mind was, she had no information to make a guess.

For now, she could only stay confused.

She walked forward, avoiding all the guards that she came up across. Surely enough, no one had noticed her. Running from the cellar's guards, she finally managed to sneak into the outside, breathing out the cold cellar air and inhaling the cooling morning breeze.

Running quickly from the cellar, she looked behind her at the cellar had been in for a period of time. It was so noticeable that if she had not come out of it and wasn't looking for it, even she wouldn't have been able to find it.

Why was she in there to begin with? The question remained in her head as she ran as far she could.
