Gabriel then drove to Miller Mansion to pick up Eveline before they proceeded to head to Kaden's.

Eveline was so dejected after attending Gabriel's call in the morning that she refused to eat breakfast and instead waited for him. And here he wasn't even looking at her, despite the fact that all she did was stare at him expectantly.

"Do you need anything, Eveline?" Gabriel inquired, seeing her constant stare at him.

He was scrolling something on his phone, but his entire focus was on the girl seated next to him. He knew she wanted to talk and glance her way, but she was thinking about how she would raise her voice.

So he acted on her behalf instead.

Eveline's eyes widened as he put his phone back in his pocket and turned to face her instead.

She gulped, peering into his deep eyes, which were devoid of any emotion for her. She wasn't used to it, and his apathy caused her heart to contract.
