Chapter 529 - On the Red Carpet

Laila also wanted to win awards. In her previous life, she didn't even have the opportunity to make movies, so she could only watch others win awards. In this life, she had the chance, but her age was a hindrance. It would be at least another ten years before she had a solid chance of winning.

She knew she didn't need to rush. When the time was right, the little golden man would naturally become hers.

Under her candid admission, Roy finally sighed and let go of his hopes of winning, accepting his role as a background to accentuate the greatness of the actual winners.

Speaking of the Golden Globe Awards, they were considered to be less prestigious than the Oscars, primarily due to the authority of the judging process. The Oscars had over 6,000 members voting, while the Golden Globe Awards were selected by a group of journalists. The Golden Globe Awards had come as far as they had because of their entertainment value. Compared to the formal Oscars ceremony, the Golden Globe Awards had a more relaxed and casual atmosphere.

Since her debut, Laila had never attended any film awards ceremonies. She was partly avoiding the hassle, but more so because she believed that other awards besides the Oscars were insignificant. Even if she received them, there wasn't much to get excited about.

What she didn't realize was that some of these "small" awards in her eyes carried considerable authority in the United States. Louise had tried to remind her a few times, but after several indirect attempts went unanswered, she believed Laila genuinely wasn't interested in such events and stopped pushing her to attend.

Today, she and Roy appeared on the red carpet together, which unexpectedly triggered an electrifying chorus of screams. Not only the fans were cheering, but also the journalists in the press area were excitedly clicking their cameras, striving to capture every moment of their presence.

Roy's Best Actor nomination had been reported before, so his appearance wasn't a surprise. However, nobody expected to see Laila there as well. Therefore, when he first got out of the car, fans initially thought he had come alone.

Before they could cheer for his arrival, they saw him extending his hand into the car and pulling Laila out, drawing even more excitement from the fans.

As a result, fans were thrilled and used their most enthusiastic voices to welcome the arrival of this famous couple.

Their outfits for the evening were once again matching couple ensembles designed by Janet. She seemed to have developed a fondness for couples outfits, as just for walking the red carpet, she had designed a whole car full of them. Given how often they walked the red carpet, they wouldn't have to worry about not having something to wear for at least two years.

Laila had always preferred not to wear revealing clothing and didn't like overly vibrant colors. Janet, who was tasked with helping her choose outfits, had to design according to her preferences.

Take their outfits for today, for instance. Laila wore a black-and-white dress that featured a rocker-inspired design with a distinct emphasis on her waistline, giving it a rugged vibe. In contrast, Roy donned a black fitted suit jacket with white trousers, also incorporating some rock-inspired elements. Together, they looked like a perfect match, capturing everyone's attention as soon as they set foot on the red carpet.

The host of the television station responsible for broadcasting the event was delighted upon hearing the exaggerated screams of the fans. They knew that a big star had arrived, and big stars usually guaranteed high viewership. Therefore, the host quickly wrapped up the interview with the previous star and walked towards the newcomers.

As the host approached, he observed Laila and Roy waving to the fans.

The host immediately perked up. In his eyes, these two were not just stars; they were walking mascots for high TV ratings, and their presence tonight promised good viewership.

"God must have heard my prayers because how else would I be blessed to see Roy and Laila here!" The host approached the couple, his excitement evident, as if a die-hard fan meeting their idols. "Welcome to the Golden Globe Awards; I believe you will have a wonderful evening."

"Thank you, I think we will," Roy replied with a smile, holding Laila's hand.

The host, still beaming with enthusiasm, addressed Roy, "Roy, it's your first Best Actor nomination. How are you feeling? Do you have confidence in winning?"

Roy, who was no stranger to interviews and red carpets, handled the question with ease, "I was thrilled for a long time after getting my first nomination. But as soon as I saw the names I was up against, I knew I didn't stand a chance. They are all very talented actors, and I'll be happy for any of them who wins."

The response was rather modest, not what the host was hoping for. He wanted interviews to be more dramatic, where the interviewees confidently claimed they would win, and belittled their competition to boost ratings.

So, he turned his attention to Laila, "Director Moran, Roy is being too humble. How about you? What do you think?"

Laila chuckled, "I think he's right. He's still relatively new, and this nomination is already a great recognition. He's young, and I believe he'll have many more opportunities to be here in the future."

Seizing the chance, the host asked, "Are you implying that in the future, you'll be making films that could win Golden Globe Awards for him?"

Laila was confident about this and replied, "Yes, when the time is right, I'll bring my movies and help Roy fulfill his dreams."

Her response was both humble and authoritative, satisfying the host's desire for a statement.

The host got the answer he wanted and showed a satisfied smile. However, he wasn't about to let the opportunity slip. Finally getting a chance to interview the queen of conversation herself, he knew he had to extract some juicy information.

"Laila, as far as I know, you've never attended various award ceremonies or personally received awards. Why did you decide to come here today? Is it because of the Golden Globe?"

This question was more incisive. If she didn't answer it carefully, it might make others think, "So, in your eyes, the Golden Globe is the only ceremony worth attending? Then you won't get any other awards from now on!" Although she wasn't too interested in those awards, it's better to have them than not, and she didn't want to close the door to future awards with one response.

"I've always considered myself a director, someone who stands behind the camera, so I've enjoyed communicating with the audience through my films," Laila said while blushing slightly as she glanced at the camera focused on her. "I treasure every award because it's a recognition of my work. I haven't attended award ceremonies because I've always been busy with various projects."

The host pretended to understand, although he didn't believe her at all. But his personal beliefs didn't matter. What mattered was that the viewers at home enjoyed seeing and learning anything about Laila.
