Rescued

Once the coast was clear and there were no signs of footsteps arriving around them, Evelyn removed everything from above Aaron, giving him the chance to breathe freely.

He coughed out weakly.

After that, she helped him up. He sat down. Putting in much effort, he was able to gather enough strength to stand up. His body trembled, unable to support him.

He leaned on the tree nearby and breathed heavily. Slight movement made him feel as though the muscles in his legs were being cruelly ripped away.

He felt lightheaded, and his vision was blurry. He was losing blood at a rapid rate and had no clue on how long he could hold out for.

This was the most perseverance he had shown in his entire life. It was due to those round blue eyes of Evelyn staring at him in concern and hope.

Evelyn's bottom lip quivered.

He thought it would be wrong to frighten the little girl further.
