The heavy cabinet was finally lifted by the students to the point where Ye Jian could enter and carry the child out. The students who were carrying the cabinet heaved a sigh of relief and gestured to Ye Jian. Ye Jian immediately let go and crawled into the gap…
The cries of a child could be heard in the rainy night. The villagers outside could tell that it was a child's cry. They cried tears of joy.
"Child, nothing will happen to you!"
"The heavens have shown mercy. Nothing will happen to the child!"
"Quick, quick, go and fetch the child! Come out, all three of you!"
Ye Jian climbed out of the gap with the crying child in her arms. Just as she was about to climb out, there was a loud bang from the cabinet. Someone was knocking on the cabinet. Right on the heels of that, the sound of crying could be heard.
"Grandpa, Grandma… Grandpa, Grandma…"
