Chapter 2 I am Roxy

Beep beep beep....

The sound of beeping has been her constant companion. Besides constant flashing of faces of the people she never saw before but she was surprised that she knew them.

The face of a woman with black hair, blue eyes and round face. It was the first time she saw her but why did she call her mom?

"Honey, please wake up now..." pleaded the voice. Wax was trying to open her eyes to see who that woman was, her voice had been hunting her in the abyss.

"Honey, can you hear me?" She heard it again and again. She decided to follow the voice because it was dark where she was and hearing the voice made me somewhat relieved.

As she continuously walked using the woman's voice as her guide, she saw a light and tried to reach for it. Just as she touched it, her eyes suddenly opened. The light that was all over the room blinded her and made her close her eyes once again. "Am I dead?" she asked herself.

"Oh, honey you're awake. Thank Goddess." The woman cried and touched her face.

Wax opened her eyes slowly to get accustomed to the light. And when her eyes finally adjusted with the brightness of light, she looked at the woman beside her. She looked tired and worried. And when their eyes met a relief flashed her face.

"Roxy, honey. You are really awake." the woman said as she hugged her.

"Wait, I have to call the doctor." the woman said as Wax just looked at her.

"Did she just call me Roxy?" Wax thought. She roamed her eyes around and found that she was in a hospital. She decided to pull out herself from the hospital bed but her back felt heavy.

She remembered being struck by a spear of some sort and started to feel numb. The need to somehow bring some of the kidnappers with her in the afterlife gave her strength to pull the pin of the grenades.

As she tried to remember what had happened after the explosion, she remembered hearing a voice that tells her to take care of her mom.

She tried to remember what the voice had told her and when she did, she was flooded with bad memories of that girl.

The faces of the people that bullied her anger her while the woman she called mom made her hurt ache.

The loud opening of the door stopped her from remembering someone else's memories. She looked at the woman who was happy to see me awake and at the same time, she could see worries and lack of sleep all over her face.

The woman wearing a white coat that looks like a doctor to her asked her, "HI, I'm Dr. Marshal, how do you feel Roxy?"

She could not answer because the doctor called me differently from what name I knew I had. Dr. Marshal stared at her and decided to check her.

"Everything seems normal to you, can you tell me how you feel now? She asked Wax again.

" I'm fine. It's just that my back was a little heavy. " she replied.

" That is because of the accident. When you fell from the second floor, your back hit and took all your weight." Dr. Marshal explained to her the same way people were entering my hospital room.

She faced the woman who had been crying beside her and asked," why are you crying? "

The woman sobbed and said," I thought you'd never wake up."

"How long have I been out?" I asked in confusion.

"You have been in a coma for 3 months now, honey." the woman said. Deep down herself, someone's telling her to call the woman, mom. Wax was not sure if she should be calling her that though.

“Three months? I had been lying down in this hospital bed that long? How did I end up in this state?” she thought. She tried to get up but the woman that she wanted to call “mom” stopped her.

“Dr. Marshal, is it good for her to get up now?” the woman asked while Wax was just staring at her.

“Of course, she just needed to take it slow. Though her back was not completely healed, she is able to move freely, of course with care.” Dr. Marshal looked at Wax and continued, “Don’t make any excessive movement that can put stress on your back. You still need a couple of weeks to recuperate.”

Wax nodded and smiled at Dr. Marshal. “I hope you understand everything I said” Dr. Marshal clarified, smiled at her back and left her room.

“Don’t worry honey, when you have your wolf you will heal quickly. We will find that out on your 18th birthday which is three days from now.” As soon as Wax heard that,

“Wait, what wolf?” she asked, confused.

“Your wolf, did you forget? You were supposed to shift when you were 16 years old but you did not. Your 18th birthday is coming up and will be your last chance too.” the woman explained.

Wax just stared at her and didn’t know what to say. She never thought that werewolves exist and she might be one of them. Worried flashed in her face and the woman wondered why she looked flustered.

“I wanted to go to the bathroom.” Wax requested. The woman helps her until she gets inside the bathroom. When she was alone, she looked into the mirror and found an unfamiliar face. When she realized that, she screamed, “Ahhhhhhhh…..”

“Roxy, what's wrong?” The woman asked Wax worriedly.

“Who is that?” Wax questioned the woman pointing at the mirror.

“What are you talking about?”

“That woman in the mirror, who is that?”

“Roxy, what's wrong? Of course it was you, why are you asking me that?”

“No, it wasn’t me. Why do I look like that?”

Wax becomes hysterical and the woman doesn’t know what to do. She walked out of the bathroom and pressed the help button.

After a few minutes, nurses and Dr. Marshal came in worriedly. “What happened? How did she become hysterical?” Dr. Marshal inquired.

“I don't know, she told me she wanted to go to the restroom so I helped her and left her to do her thing. I was trying to make a call to inform Alpha but I heard her scream. When I opened the door she looked shocked and asked me who the girl was in the mirror so I told that it was her. She doesn’t believe me saying her face was not like that and all.” The woman explained with panic.

“What was wrong with her Dr. Marshal?” The woman continued.

They injected Wax with a sedative, and after a while she was calm. The worry on Dr. Marshal appeared as Wax became unconscious.

“Why did she say that? She didn't believe me when I told her that it was her. Is she seeing things?” the woman inquired Dr. Marshal.

“We don’t know that yet, I am going to run a few more tests on her so I would know whether her brain got damaged too. Please calm yourself and don’t worry, she passed the critical point. I’m sure she will be able to recover soon. I think she was just shocked. Let’s just make her rest.” Dr. Marshal said and left the room.

Meanwhile, when Wax loses her consciousness, she finds herself into the abyss. It was very dark and she wanted to get out of that place. “Wax” she heard that voice again. “Wax” she looked around and there she found the woman in the mirror.

“Who are you?” she asked.

“I am Roxy.” the woman replied. “I am the owner of the body you were into. The people you were seeing and the memories you keep on remembering were mine. You are trapped in my body.” Roxy continued.

“What do you mean trapped? How could it be?” Wax asked Roxy.

“First let me tell you this, you will be living in my body until you die.” Roxy started and Wax was just listening.

“Later, you will be able to see all my memories and you will be able to understand what has happened. I am dead and the moment your soul left your body, it looked for a host and found mine who was being revived and maintained by medicine. I don’t know why my soul doesn’t want to get back to my body, but I had talked to someone and said that it was already time for my soul to rest.” Roxy paused for a moment and continued,

“With you using my body, I want to request you to take care of my mom, the woman who was with you in the hospital. I care for her so much so please as soon as you see my past, try to make me better.” Roxy’s soul said and started to disappear.

“Wait, what werewolf? Your mom said something about werewolves.” Wax tried to get an answer to her but to her dismay, she was gone.

Later, she suddenly felt a like she was being pulled and Roxy’s memories flooded her.
