Rescue Yourself

“Are you sure this is the right way?” My voice cut through the uncomfortable silence surrounding us.

“Um…” After leaving the safety of the artificial cave Mu’s magic carved inside the snow, we began the arduous trek back to the cabin.

That was the plan, at least.

The truth was that my darling was lost but didn’t want to accept it. Just like that time we visited San Francisco for a wedding and got irrevocably lost after leaving the tour of Alcatraz. A ferry got us to the maritime museum, but everything went downhill from there. And of course, my darling wasn’t keen on asking for directions, so we never arrived at our other appointments. We would have missed the wedding too had I not put down my foot and asked a police officer for directions.

Despite it all, however, it still remained a happy memory for me. It was my first time traveling abroad and I was charmed by the smells, the sights, the colors… nothing mattered but being with my beloved in that magical city.
