Quirk Test

After eating the lunch Lunch Rush had prepared, Nezu, Mr. Aizawa, Ectoplasm, and I went to a gym to test out my Quirk. The three heroes lined up along the side of the gym, and they had me demonstrate my power. Ectoplasm created a clone with his Quirk to act as the training dummy.

"As I've said before, my Quirk is called Light Angel. I can manipulate light particles around me to attack and defend."

I created a chain that snaked around the clone and bound him. The chain constricted around the clone and tightened, making the clone turn into smoke.

"My main long-range attack is condensing light particles into a light wave and launch it toward the enemy." I slashed twice with my hand, sending X-shape light wave crashing into the gym wall.

"As for defense, I can create any sort of terrain that is advantageous for me." I created a wide wall in front me, then split the walls into fourths to form a cube around me.

"Close combat, I can make any weapon from light. The durability of the weapon changes depending on how much light particles I use." Switching between a sword, a knife, a shield, and finally stopping at the dagger, I swung it around a couple times in the air.

I turned to look at the teachers. Ectoplasm cleared his throat. "Your Quirk is extremely versatile and very powerful. You also have a good understanding on how to use it. I think you will do very well at UA."

"A good understanding doesn't mean he can be able to do it in a battle. I've seen students do well in training but falter in actual battle. It would be irrational to conclude anything so early." Mr. Aizawa interjected, his face giving nothing away.

"I agree with Mr. Aizawa. I think it would be better to show my capabilities in battle. Mr. Ectoplasm, may I ask that you be my sparring partner?" I asked.

Ectoplasm was taken back by the sudden question, but he quickly gathered himself and agreed. "Of course, but don't expect me to go easy on you."

"Of course not."

Ectoplasm and Rey took their respective positions, twenty paces away from each other. Ectoplasm weighed up the boy and frowned slightly. Something told him not to underestimate to white-hair youth in front of him. Likewise, Rey knew that Ectoplasm wasn't an easy opponent. Looking at the stance he took and the way he had walked to to the middle of the gym, Rey could tell that Ectoplasm was skilled in close combat. And with the cloning Quirk, he would be a troublesome opponent to defeat.

Rey made the first move. He threw three light waves at the man and ran swiftly toward him. Rey used the light reflection from the energy waves to hide his approach. Ectoplasm saw the boy disappear, but he didn't have time to guess where the boy went. Ectoplasm moved to the right to dodge the incoming waves.

Rey anticipated Ectoplasm's sidestep, and he kicked at Ectoplasm's head with his leg. Ectoplasm swiftly blocked with his hand, grabbed Rey's leg, and swung Rey backwards. Ectoplasm turned around to follow with a punch backwards, but to his surprise, the boy had kicked off of his arm and flew into the air with the added momentum.

A blast of light blinded Ectoplasm, and Ectoplasm was forced to close his eyes. When he opened them, he saw that the three light waves that Rey had thrown in the beginning of the match were coming right at him at top speed.

Rey twisted in midair, maneuvering himself away between the gaps of the three light waves. He then threw two more light waves from his hands, cutting off all of Ectoplasm's escape routes. Ectoplasm knew that he had nowhere to dodge. He opened his mouth, creating a stream of clones. The light waves cut through the clones, and an explosion of smoke billowed through the gym.

Rey materialized two light daggers in his hands and closed in on Ectoplasm. He kept his body low, trying not to stir up the smoke in order to hide his approach. Rey narrowed his eyes, locking onto his target, and pounced. He slashed his daggers at Ectoplasm. Ectoplasm erupted into a smoke. Rey's attack had hit a clone. Rey's eyes widened, and he immediately dodged backwards, narrowly avoiding the leg aimed for his head.

Rey's eyes darted around, quickly taking in his situation. He was surrounded by Ectoplasm's clones. He couldn't tell which was the real one. He prepared himself for close combat. Ectoplasm's attacks were heavy-hitting. Rey created a layer of light armor around his arms, legs, and torso. He twirled his daggers, a slight smile on his face, and pounced onto the clone closest to him.

Rey moved like a phantom, twisting in and out of the clones' attacks, using his armor to mitigate the blows. He exchanged each blow with one of his own, landing each quick and clean. Each attack landed on a fatal point: the neck, the chest, the stomach, the head. Slowly, the clone numbers started to dwindle.

Ectoplasm, who was watching Rey fight, realized that at this rate, Rey would find him very soon. Ectoplasm gathered his energy and started to mass produce his clones. Rey noticed the change, but he continued to stand his ground. Slashing at the clones who got too close, Rey continued his onslaught.

The stalemate continued for another minute, both sides unrelenting. Ectoplasm was surprised by the boy's incredible stamina, and Rey was impressed by Ectoplasm's tenacity in his Quirk usage.

However, the constant fighting had its toll on Rey. Even though Ectoplasm didn't notice, Rey could tell his attacks have grown a fraction slower. He knew that if he continued, Ectoplasm would have the upper hand. He had to find a way to break the stalemate.

Discreetly, Rey released the dagger in his right hand and hid his empty hand from Ectoplasm's view. He started to concentrate light energy in that hand while pretending to retreat.

Ectoplasm saw that Rey was starting to move backwards. "You finally realized that fighting wasn't going to get you anywhere. But, what a shame, it's too late for you to retreat now!"

Ectoplasm commanded his clones to swarm the boy, and he moved in closer to deal the finishing blow. Rey's figure disappeared as the clones surged forward. Suddenly, a blinding light spilled out from Rey's location. An enormous light wave swept through the gym, destroying all of the clones, and blew Ectoplasm backwards.

In the air, Ectoplasm spent the last of his energy to produce a huge burst of clones. The clones surrounded Ectoplasm, preventing Rey from pinpointing the hero's location.

Rey sighed quietly in frustration. "What a disgusting ability."

Rey didn't want to fight them head on again, so he jumped upwards into the air. Creating a small platform in the air, he used it as the foothold to jump up again. He created a larger platform and landed on it. Rey dissipated his armor and looked downwards. He was about 20 feet in the air, high enough that Ectoplasm's clones couldn't reach him.

Rey squatted down and narrowed his eyes, scanning the entire gym for the real Ectoplasm. He condensed a light wave and flung it at a corner of the gym. A group of clones went up in smoke, but more immediately took their place. Rey shook his head; he couldn't try to guess. It would take forever.

Rey closed his eyes and listened. When fighting the clones, Rey noticed that the clones did not have a heartbeat. Even though they looked exactly like Ectoplasm, they were not alive. Rey started breathing slowly, syncing his breathing with his own heartbeat. He filtered out the heartbeats of Nezu and Aizawa and focused solely on finding Ectoplasm's.

For a minute, Rey stayed completely still. Ectoplasm also stood still, waiting to see what the boy would do.

Then, Rey opened his eyes. He had found Ectoplasm's position. But, Rey's face revealed nothing; he threw a couple more light waves in random directions, pretending that he didn't know where Ectoplasm was.

Seeing the boy miss, Ectoplasm let out a sigh of relief. He dropped his guard for a brief moment.

Rey smiled lightly. He definitely wasn't going to let go of this opening. Rey's eyes flashed, and chains erupted around Ectoplasm, wrapping around his limbs. From up above, Rey condensed a gigantic sword of light and sent it flying towards Ectoplasm.

Ectoplasm saw the sword coming at him, and he immediately recalled all of his clones. He merged them into his body, growing into a giant version of himself. Ectoplasm's hands caught the blade coming at him, and the momentum pushed him into the gym's walls. The sword exploded in his hands, and a big burst of light blinded everyone.

A few seconds of silence passed, and everyone could see again. Rey was breathing heavily, and sweat ran down the side of his face. Ectoplasm's hands and chest were bleeding, but he was still able to maintain his giant form. Seeing this, Rey had created 5 smaller versions of the sword around him. Rey prepared to attack again.

"Wait! Don't attack! The spar is over!" Nezu exclaimed, worried that the two was going to continue the battle. "Thank you, Rey and Ectoplasm, for a spectacular performance."

Rey heaved a sigh of relief and waved his hand to destroy the swords. He jumped down from his platform and walked over to Ectoplasm. Ectoplasm released his giant form and laughed. "You did a great job, Rey! I haven't had such an exciting battle in a long time! What do you think, Aizawa?"

"It was... impressive." Aizawa said. His onyx-colored eyes didn't reveal anything.

"Mr. Ectoplasm, are you alright?" Rey gestured at Ectoplasm's wounds.

"Don't worry about it. They're just some scratches. I'll go and get them healed by Recovery Girl." Ectoplasm waved his hand.

Aizawa shot a glance at Nezu, and Nezu nodded. "Now that we've also seen you perform with your Quirk, let's go back to my office. Your results for your test should also be out by now."

Nezu and Mr. Aizawa started to walk away. Rey quickly followed them after bidding goodbye to Ectoplasm.
