Mortis continued on his way, now through dark corridors lined with the dead spiders, many of them still caught in their webs. The thought of how much money these creatures could bring in made him smile with satisfaction. The wailer did a great job, killing the spiders without much difficulty.

The further they advanced, the more cobwebs filled the room. But Mortis heard strange noises that sounded like choked voices. He struggled through the webs as they also stuck to his scythe. After 15 minutes, he finally managed to cut through the webs and stood in front of a massive, fat spider with legs as thick as tree trunks, which Mortis found disgusting but didn't stop him from confronting the spider.

The spider stood on its hind legs and tried to attack Mortis. He blocked her first attack with a slash, but the spider was stronger than he expected. She stabbed forward and was able to hit Mortis easily. But he deftly dodged it, using his skills to get to safety. He decided to use a new tactic to defeat the massive spider. With quick movements, he tried to circle around the spider to attack it from behind. Mortis used his skills to be faster and surprise the spider. But the spider was faster than expected and continued its attacks.

The spider shot green spider web orbs at Mortis as it moved toward him. Mortis was forced to dodge skillfully to avoid being hit by the poisonous attack. He realized that the spider would not stop launching attacks, and he faced an ever-increasing challenge.

Mortis decided to use a powerful ability: the Wailing. The weapon shredded the spider's side and deflected its attack away from Mortis. The spider was furious and chased the ghost, but the ghost was skilled enough to stay out of reach. Mortis took the opportunity to switch to the spirit realm and wait for the right moment.

With an explosive soul seal and a slash, Mortis attacked the spider from behind. He struck several times, using the Wailing's abilities to weaken the spider. The spider fought back desperately, but could not stop Mortis. A final devastating attack brought the spider down.

Mortis experienced a level up and distributed his skill points to mana and agility. He also gained a new ability, Mana Suck, which allowed him to replenish his mana reserves. Satisfied with his progress, he picked up the Spider's Soul to have another strong spirit in his collection.

He named the wailer Sarah and registered her as a companion. A new ability was unlocked that allowed spirits to ascend themselves and learn new skills. Sarah had changed in appearance and looked friendlier.

Mortis continued his exploration of the room and encountered undead creatures hanging from the ceiling. Marlene entered and asked what he was doing there. Mortis explained that these beings were already undead and no rescue was possible. Marlene doubted his words and cut open one of the cocoons, revealing an undead man. Mortis warned her, but she hurled a fireball at the undead man while Mortis freed the living.

Marlene asked what he was doing there, and Mortis explained that they could not save the undead creatures. Marlene challenged him to prove it, and Mortis cut open a cocoon. But instead of a rescued one, an undead man stepped out, and Marlene attacked him with a fireball. Mortis realized that the undead had died before the curse of Osmiris, and the curse was changing them further.

Mortis released the living, who embraced him and wept with joy. Marlene entered and asked what he was doing there. She doubted his words, but Mortis explained that they were undead. She finally set the room on fire to make sure the undead creatures could not continue to wreak havoc.

The day was coming to an end, and they continued on their way. Marlene was thrilled with the spoils they had obtained from the spider, and was already planning to use the materials to brew potions.
