Son Of Archaeology

"Who are you?" Lydia asked the stranger.

"There's no time to answer that question. We have to go now," The man said just as he started running.

The kids were confused but they followed the stranger. Better him than the assassin. They all ran out of the alley and reached the road. The stranger took out his car keys and ran over to a vehicle parked on the side of the road. He opened the door and went into the driver's seat.

"Get in," He cried out to the kids.

They didn't want to enter the stranger's car because they didn't know who he was or if they could trust him so they just stood still.

"I know you don't know me but please, get in now before he..." The stranger said but his words were cut short after a sword shattered the glass of the passenger seat window.

The assassin was back and he'd thrown his sword at the kids which narrowly missed them and struck the car. He raised his hand and the weapon flew back into his grasp and he ran after them.

Not having any other choice, the kids got in the stranger's car and he drove away fast enough to avoid being caught by the assassin.

"Are you guys okay?" The stranger asked.

"Yeah, thanks for helping us," Joe said, out of breath.

"Who are you and who was that person that was chasing us?" Lydia asked from behind.

"My name's Micah Jameson and that person that was chasing you was a Ginx," Michael said.

"A what?" Kurt asked.

"A Ginx. A magical warrior from Troleyadia, sent here to find the twin seeds of Eyah and by the looks of it, kill them," Micah said.

"How do you know about Troleyadia?" Lydia asked him.

"I've been studying about it since I was a child," Micah replied.

"You have?" Joe asked, surprised.

"Yes, and I couldn't believe it when I saw the two of you. I mean, I knew the stories of Troleyadia weren't myths but to finally have concrete, living, breathing evidence is monumental," Micah said excitedly.

"Where are you taking us right now?" Kurt asked, a bit sceptical of Micah's true intentions.

"I'm taking you to my house right outside the city. The security is tight and it's the best place for you two to be right now. It's safe and the Ginx won't be able to get to you there," Micah said.

"No, we're not doing that. Pull over," Kurt ordered.

"What? What do you mean?" Micah asked, confused.

"We don't know who you are or what you want so we're not going anywhere with you until you explain what the hell is going on. Right, guys?" Kurt asked the others.

Joe and Lydia looked at each other and couldn't deny that Kurt's suspicions were justified. They had to be careful of the people they put their trust in until they get a better understanding of what was going on.

"He's right," Lydia said to Joe.

"Yeah, I agree. Stop the car, Micah," Joe said.

"But..."

"I said stop the car," Micah raised his voice.

His palm glowed for a second and the back tire of the vehicle exploded violently causing Michael to struggle with the steering wheel to regain control of the car.

"Fine, relax before you make us crash. I'm stopping..." Micah said and parked the car on the side of the road.

Everyone got out of the vehicle and Kurt walked over to Micah and demanded that he give them more details before they did anything else.

"Okay, I'll tell you everything I know," He said and took off his hoodie and glasses.

"First thing you need to know is my real face," Micah said and took off the synthetic face he was wearing to disguise himself.

He wasn't a grown man like they all thought. He was a kid and by the looks of it, he was younger than they were.

"Surprise!" Micah said with a smile on his face after he took off the mask.

"How old are you?" Lydia asked.

"Sixteen! Well, fifteen but I'll be sixteen in the next seven months so I'm practically sixteen," Micah said with a proud smile.

"No, you're not," Kurt replied without any amusement.

"How do you know about us and Troleyadia?" Joe asked again.

"I told you already, I spent my whole life learning about your people. My dad is an archaeologist but instead of studying lost cultures in this realm, he studies inter-dimensional realms to find the gateway to a new world.

"I know it sounds crazy but it's true. He's spent almost his entire life looking for clues, objects, artefacts, architecture and all sorts of items that can prove without a doubt that Troleyadia exists and now, I've found you two; the final piece of the puzzle," Micah said.

"Is your father Philip Jameson?" Lydia asked.

"He is! You've heard of him?" He asked.

"Yeah, we have," She replied.

"Okay but none of what you've said explains how you found us," Kurt pointed out.

"Yes, how did you know we'd be where we were at the time?" Joe asked suspiciously.

Micah took out an object from his pocket and held it out in his palm. It was shaped like a locket but when he opened it up, the kids realized that it was actually a compass but it was unlike any compass they'd ever seen before.

"I found you the same way that Ginx did; with Ginx magic," He said.

"You're saying that compass is magical?" Kurt asked.

"Yes it is but it's also very science too. You see, Ginx magic is powerful and it can be used to track and find other Ginxes and that's how the assassin found you. This device, however, can do the same thing because of a special ingredient that enables the mechanism," He said.

"And what ingredient is that?" Joe asked.

Micah opened the back of the compass and revealed a tiny piece of bone crackling with energy and it served as the power that kept the compass working.

"Ginx bone. I found it on one of the expeditions I took with my father to the Amazon jungle. At first, I didn't know that it still had magic in it but when I realized that it did, I knew it was what I needed to get the compass working. My dad and I had tried for three years but we couldn't make the compass work...until now," Micah said proudly.

"So, your father sent you to find us?" Joe asked.

"Actually, he doesn't even know that the compass is working. He's been having such a hard time because a lot of other archaeologists think his theories are insane and I wanted to surprise him by bringing the two of you to him to cheer him up,"

"Give us a second, Micah. We need to discuss this," Lydia said.

She and the boys moved away from Micah to decide on what to do next. They weren't sure if they could trust him but they couldn't see why he'd be lying to them. They needed answers, they needed to know the truth about their origin and if this was the best chance they had to do so, then they didn't have a choice but to go with him.

"So, we all agree?" Lydia asked.

"Okay," Kurt and Joe said.

They walked back to Micah and the kid looked at them anxiously, waiting for their decision.

"Take us to your father," Lydia said.

About an hour later, they all arrived at Micah's home outside the city. The house was very huge, almost as big as the one she grew up in, Lydia thought to herself while Joe and Kurt looked at it in awe, having never lived in a house as glorious as this.

"That's where you grew up in?" Kurt asked with awe.

"Yep, pretty cool, right?" Micah asked.

"Totally," Joe answered.

The house was built on a huge plot of land surrounded by trees, lakes, hills and all sorts of natural elements. The mansion was classy on the outside and they could only imagine what the inside would look like.

They reached the gate and Micah punched in the combination on the dashboard and it opened up and he drove into the estate.

He stopped the car on the side of the driveway and got off. The others came out as well and followed him to the front door.

"Alright, time to give my father the best surprise he's ever had," Micah said and opened the spectacular doors.
