Chapter 42

Ppree! Ppree!

The Usher on top of Chi's head chirped calmly as it's blue eyes began to glow white. Safely anchoring Chi so that Mirror's Edge could not affect his mind. As an usher of souls he was able to deflect any mental attacks that came after the man. Leaving him alone to wander in what felt like an vast endless darkness of another. But unlike Chi who had the aid of an usher, Fae and Tyson were sent mentally hurdling into the brutal attack of the Mirrors Edge.

As Chi walked along the darkness he could see Tyson up ahead of him. Cold iron chains shackling him from all sides as the hand's face hung downward. His eyes looked as though he'd been broken. At the mere sight of it Chi could not hold back from running over to him. Falling pray to his own innermost demons the man had already started to become shackled within Mirrors Edge. If Tyson could not fight off whatever fear or regret Mirrors Edge was trying to use against him the chains would never let the man go.

"Tyson! Snap out of it!" Chi called out to him as he tried to grab hold of the chains only to get hurt by iron so cold that his finger instantly got a tinge of frostbite. It was a reaction by the chains in order to stop outsiders from affecting their hold on the person. Everyone had their own way Mirrors Edge would affect them and whatever mental attack it was doing on Tyson it was trying to ensure nobody could help snap him back to reality by taking him down.

Not wanting to give up on breaking the man free he carefully touched Tyson's cold body. The man's broken eyes barely reacting at all to the sensation of Chi's touch. His black and red hair draped down around Chi as the man got as close as he could. Careful so that he would not touch the ice cold chains that were holding Tyson up.

"You need to snap out of it, Tyson. Didn't you say you could make it through the mirror?" Chi spoke calmly as he reached up and placed his palm against Tyson's face. Staring up into those golden eyes that he no longer had to merely imagine seeing. He had finally gotten rid of the mask that once hid the man's face and yet he was allowing himself to fall prey to Mirrors Edge. It was not something Chi wanted to see happen to him. There was no way he could get inside of Tyson's head in order to see what the mirror was using against him so he could only hope for him to come back to reality.

"Little rabbit, you talk too much some times.." Tyson's voice muttered out at him as life slowly started to come back to his eyes. His eyes looking around to see that they were still missing the stubborn vampire, Fae. Recalling their earlier conversation he could only imagine the vampire was struggling with his own problem somewhere. The chains slowly vanishing as Tyson's body collapsed to the solid black ground.

"Tyson!" Chi shouted his name as he rushed to catch him as he fell. His face flushing slightly as he helped aid the man in keeping his balance while Tyson regained his strength to stand quickly. The blush on his face was purely a reaction he could not control. Even if he knew how dire the situation was he could not stop himself from reacting to how close he'd become with Tyson as the man knelt there in his arms.

"We need to find Fae." Tyson said sternly. No matter how much he'd liked to have toyed with Chi he knew they could not leave the vampire behind on his own in Mirror's Edge. If anyone was a walking target he was afraid it might have been the vampire. Knowing that the vampire was holding much inside that was bothering him Mirrors Edge would have found him to be its perfect target among the group.

It was not hard for Tyson to break free from the mirror's grasp because he'd already known the truth of Mirror's Edge and how it played with one's worst fears. Tyson, however, did not fear anything because he'd already experienced the worst things imaginable over the years in Numen's Garden. When the mirror put him under he was able to quickly realize the cruel reality of his own hallucinations causing his hallucination to shatter. That did not mean that Tyson's hallucination was not painful because unlike fear he did have a heavy load of regret that it had been able to feed on. Causing him to feel extremely drained by the time he snapped out of it.

"He was with me when we entered but I don't know where he went after that.." Chi said as he looked back and realized that he could no longer see any sign of Fae. His mind had been so focused on Tyson that he had completely forgotten to check whether or not Fae was still with him. A cold reality struck him when he realized he'd completely ignored the vampire following after him.

"We'll find him.. Then we get out of here as quickly as possible." Tyson placed the palm of his hand on top of Chi's sandy hair and tousled it. Seeing how worried the man was he wanted to simply calm him down a bit before they started their search.

"Right." Chi agreed with the idea. He did not want to spend any more time then they had to inside of the Mirror's Edge. The sooner they got out on the other side of the canyon the quicker they could keep moving forward. He did not like the place they were even the slightest.

"Stay close, little rabbit. I don't want you getting lost in here. I don't know this place myself so finding you will be difficult. " Tyson started to walk in a random direction. There was no set trail, no surroundings, nothing. Darkness from all around was all that they could see from where they stood. Each step felt heavy and the air felt like it got thinner the more they walked. It was like a vast endless loop of nothingness no matter how far they walked together.

After a while of walking they could soon see a large stone building in front of them. It was only four walls and a door that formed a single room in the darkness. One of the walls had a window made from iron bars. Sounds could be heard through the bars from within the stone walled room in front of them. Tyson recognized the voice immediately as the stubborn vampire, Fae.
