The Silent Carnage

They were countless in number, perhaps a thousand if Gabriel were to estimate. He was referring to a swarm of mosquito-like creatures, Gangatum mosiquitors, desperately ramming into a classroom.

It seems that they'd found a meal.

As Gabriel observed the unfolding scene of mindless mosiquitors crashing their sturdy carapaces into the walls, his gaze briefly shifted to Lin Mei. Positioned at the rear, the Asian girl stood with wobbly legs, grinding her teeth anxiously.

Gabriel returned his gaze to the rank of mosquitoes. The antennae of a mosquito soon jerked up, indicating that they had noticed another life form nearby. Their crimson eyes mechanically rotated, almost like robots, until they settled on Gabriel and the two girls.

And then, the mutated mosquito—the one that had noticed them—lunged forward through the air.

Seeing this, Fiona tensed her leg, preparing to dash forward, but a fragile hand grabbed her arm before she could even take a step. Fiona frowned and stared at the person—it was Lin Mei.

"What?"

"Don't leave me. Please!"

Fiona gritted her teeth.

"If I don't leave you, we will all die here!Look, just stay with him and let me deal with the bug. Dammit!"

"But... but! Don't leave me with him."

The 'him'? It was obviously Gabriel she was referring to.

Gritting her teeth, Fiona eventually shoved the Asian girl to the side as she exploded forward at the approaching mosquito, and Lin Mei crashed on her butt. She grimaced.

Her gaze flickered between Fiona, the gargantuan mosquito, and finally settled on Gabriel. With a resigned look, she began to crawl towards Gabriel and stayed close to him, but the distance was still quite far.

Gabriel just shrugged. He didn't know what to say.

Meanwhile, Fiona leaped up, moving with the grace of an assassin. In mid-air, she delivered a Superman punch, the force of her blow repelling the air before striking the mosquito squarely on its head. The monster erupted, chunks of flesh splattering all around. However, amidst the chaos, the rest of the mosquitoes remained oblivious, continuing their relentless assault on the crumbling walls. Her attack was just a whisper amidst their cacophonous noises.

It was precisely for this reason that Gabriel refrained from attacking the creatures, as he was a brute. On the other hand, Fiona had a certain level of elegance with which she attacked. Each strike of hers was infused with a certain level of grace and elegance.

The reason Gabriel didn't want to make a sound was that he didn't want to face the countless mosquitoes, numbering in the thousands, while protecting Lin Mei at the same time.

Although he was confident about getting out of here unscathed, the same couldn't be said for the two girls. So they decided to slay the beasts stealthily. Also, Gabriel was curious.

'What's behind those walls?'

Gabriel snapped his fingers twice, and Fiona stood by his side once more. She looked at Gabriel, and when their eyes met, it barely took a split second for them to understand what the other was thinking.

"I'll handle it then."

Fiona, in a burst of unrestrained speed, bolted towards the door—the door leading to the classroom.

Lin Mei's expression grew even worse.

"Why... why did you send her away?"

She began to approach.

But Gabriel lifted a hand, not even sparing her a glance.

"Some meters, remember?"

"You... you!"

A cold gleam flashed across Gabriel's eyes.

"Those were your words, not mine. So just shut up and stay quiet, if not I'll use you as cannon fodder."

If she spoke anymore, he would undoubtedly throw her to the monsters.

As if knowing what Gabriel was capable of, Lin Mei sealed her mouth and took a few steps back.

"Good."

BANG!

A second later, a mosquito with peculiar ravenous crimson eyes suddenly erupted into chunks as Gabriel drew his hand from its stomach. The blow caused its entire existence to pulverize. Only what remained of this beast was a blue glowing monster shard.

[Ding! You've slain a level 1 Mutated Mosquito.]

[Experience is awarded.]

[Monsquito meat was dropped.]

[Monster shard was dropped.]

Of course, even these bloodsuckers could now be devoured.

Mosquito meat?

What was this world turning into?

Ever since the strange game merged with the real world, Gabriel knew it was only a matter of time before the world completely descended into madness.

Gabriel wasn't sure, however. Maybe it would only be like this in the wild/red zone.

'If there is a wild zone, there should be a safe zone, right?'

Maybe the safe zone might be peaceful.

Enough thought about peace; he still had a chaotic horde of creatures to deal with.

Gabriel didn't bother with the monster shard as he approached the next creature in his sight.

And With one power-packed punch, he successfully shattered a pair of the grotesque creatures from existence, leaving behind just their shards.

'Doing this stealthily is going to be hard,'

But he was someone who would never run away from a fight.

And this happened to be a fight.

The following scene that ensued was pure carnage.

And behind, Lin Mei gulped.

She continued to watch Gabriel's stealthy slaughter, if it could be called that, through the ranks of creatures.

"This is…"

It had been a while since Fiona had arrived at the door, but she couldn't pass through it. She had tried pushing it, but the door felt like an immovable wall.

Fiona had thought that with the monster shards and leveling up, she should have been able to open the door. However, reality crashed down on her. It seemed like she needed to work harder.

And that's exactly what she did. She took a step back before lunging straight at the door. As she got closer, she flung her body into it.

And...

...Bang.

Fiona grimaced as she stood up.

"How did Gabe burst through that door like that? Or is his level just that high?"

Fiona shook her head. She glanced behind her and saw Gabriel causing silent havoc.

His characteristic brutishness was still visible in each of his attacks, but he was able to do it silently.

'How?'

A truck would definitely make a thunderous sound when it crashed into a wall or other vehicles... Gabe was just like that. But still, a sound barely resonated whenever he crashed into a creature.

It reached a certain extent where Fiona came up with the absurd idea that Gabriel had a way to control the wails of the creatures.

Understanding that she would only get more confused if she tried to understand Gabriel, her gaze wavered a little as she caught something. No, someone.

It was the Asian girl.

And she was slowly slipping away...

"What a dumb girl! I need to get in there as fast as I can before this girl gets herself killed...!"
