Sins of the fathers.
It's the last day of the week and that of the last week of the semester before finals. Just indeed another day, the end of an unforgettable period for Yo-Han. ,The short period when he smiled genuinely and he truly expresses his emotions. The period when he let the world see him, the time when he felt a little bit of happiness and joy.
He sat alone in the cafeteria and the events that unfolded about two days ago came back to him.
He was walking along a path home when someone tugged at his backpack gently and he turned around to meet the shy looking Dan-Bi who locked her gaze to the ground without uttering a word.
He scanned her from head to toe and when he noticed that she still remained silent, though he didn't want to, he left her there and continued his journey.
Well normally, he did expect that she would follow and she did. She increased her pace and blocked his path with her little frame.
She nervously looked up and though she could not look him in the eye, she stared at the area below his cold eyes. No he had never had this expression whenever she is around, but today was an exception and that already answered the question she wanted to ask him.
" Master Han, I am sorry about everything, it's all the past..., are you going to let me go?, are you going to forget me and make me feel like I don't exist anymore?, It's difficult to part with you just like that. Please, will you just give up on us?." She asked as tears started rolling down her eyes and her throat become dry.
Well he had made up his mind and he had told her already, that they can't see each other anymore. He had given up on whatever he could have with her and he had totally let go....anyways love was not as important to him as his revenge, he only wanted to give them a chance when he didn't know that her father was one of those six murderers, now that he knew, even though he tried to forget the fact that she is a murderers daughter, something inside of him would not give him the chance, not even a slight chance to forgive her.
He spent a whole decade mourning his father, the one who loved him the most in this world, the one who cherished him the most and even if someone else did the same, it will never measure up to what Park Mit-Eum had done, never will!.
He was just eight when his father died and he was still a kid when he lost all connections to his father, and that feeling of not having a father who cares for you more than anything in the world is so deep that no one could understand unless the same happens to them.
He had no ambition in life rather than avenging his father and that comes before love, moreover revenge will finally make him at ease and give him happiness and though love might do the same, he had picked revenge over love.
Not that he had no feelings for Dan-bi anymore, he still loves her like the moon loves the star, but maybe later in the future when he had finalised his revenge, he would seek her again no matter where she may be under the sun, even if it's to go to Mars or the moon, he would surely find her.
As for now, this is how fate had everything planned.
He looked over to her and finally said. " I am sorry but put yourself in my shoes. You know that I would not accept someone related to my father's death in anyway." He said before stepping away again.
She ran after him again and asked " But do you still love me?, that's enough for me for now." She asked and this made him halt immediately.
"Did I ever said I like you?, sure I like you as a friend and nothing more, I never said I like you that way" he said because he had forgotten the event that happened when he was drunk the other time and she understands too, that he probably didn't remember. But liking her just as a friend, that's the lie of the century.
" uhn, forget it then, but I know you do even if you never said it, but... But why are you avoiding me, you know I am innocent, it's the sin of the fathers why should the children bear the consequences?" She asked and right now she was really sobbing.
" It's truly the sin of the fathers which it's an inheritance just like the Choi family wealth and fame that has been passed down from generations. You are reaping the fruits of the older generations labour. So is the sin of the fathers, don't worry I will do nothing to you, I will only target the offenders, so put your mind at rest, I will not harm you." Yo-Han replied and kept walking again ' Even if the Choi family collapse or burn to ashes, you will still have me.' He thought as he walked away and as usual, she overtook him and blocked his way again.
" What if I find a way to prove the Choi family's innocence?." She asked, though she had no clue of what she was saying, yet she still blurted out those words.
" Sure if you can prove the Choi family's innocence then I will forget that this ever happened and the Choi family will be excluded from the doom that is to come.... How much time do you need?" He asked because he doubts that even if he gave her a hundred years, she would be able to clear the Choi family name."
" Give me 7 years, is that too much?" She asked while hoping that he will agree to it and she could buy time for the Choi family to prove their innocence, even if not innocent, 7 years is very much to make some amends.
" 7 years?, how about remove 12 months? That's all I can gi.... " He replied and was cut off halfway.
He was surprised by what happened next. What happened?, After hearing him agree, she ran into his arms and before knowing, she pulled his head downwards and planted a kiss right on his lips. Hmm she had always wanted to do this, well she had to since it's like their last time seeing one another.
She kissed him and it wasn't a peck but a kiss that lasted for almost half a minute before she withdrew. " I will definitely use my time well." She said before walking back few steps to give a proper space between them.
Yo-han just nodded and couldn't say anything because he had not fully recovered from the kiss, at least it's his first and he was stunned by how unplanned it was.
" Yo-Han, since it's like this, I have to agree to my father's wish, I would be leaving the country, I will be going to Country A to continue my education and I will be back in five years, I will use the remaining year to fully clear my father's name. Take care when am gone and goodbye." She said her farewells and left.
Director Choi had sent her abroad when she went home to question him about the death of Park Mit-Eum because he was really upset that she brought up that matter. Though he wanted to explain to her, he could not stand her questioning him like that and it is better if she is far away from where she could leak news about that event hence he prepared for her to leave for Country A in the west.
She had only begged for one chance to meet someone before she leaves for Country A and now she had gone.
She had gone and he feels empty once again. He is back to square one where he was before she came into his life, Oh what a tragedy.
Now that they are apart, the event still replays in his brain.
Now since he had to wait till six years to commence his plans with the Choi family, then it's time to deal with the other five families.
With the woman he loved out of his way, then he could be as brutal as he wants. Yes he did say he didn't want violence but it's when you get there that you know that you can't be 100% clean from violence. You have to handle a goat like a goat and a sheep like a sheep.
He was still deep in thought and his coffee had not being touched even after being served for more than an hour. He just stared into empty space and did not even notice when someone approached him.
" Hello Big Brother Yo-han, do you remember me?." A feminine voice asked which brought him out of his thoughts.
He didn't get out of his thoughts until he was called "Big Brother Yo-han" the second time. looked up to the familiar face and he raised an eyebrow before finally remembering who it is. " You must be Guk Yeo-Na, right?"
" Yes Big Brother Yo-han, you really have a good memory, thank you for the other day, I owe you a lot and I wish to pay you back. Can I be friends with you?" Guk Yeo-Na, the girl Yo-Han saved from the 'Pity you' gang, Minister Guk's daughter asked him.
His only response was a nod and he didn't even smile, he retained his usual dark expression and his domineering aura and it seems she didn't mind his reactions, she just wanted what she wants and she is determined to get it.
" Big brother Yo-han, I will be transferring to your school next semester, please take care of me" She said with her dashing smile which Yo-Han paid no attention to, he only nodded again and for the first time, he took a sip from his coffee.
And then he left the coffee shop and Guk Yeo-Na,though she just arrived, she tailed along.
