Reynard the Bandit Slayer(2)

"Bandits?!" Nephiah asked in a suprised tone.

"Yes bandits!! Now put your armor on!!" I said to Nephiah with worry in my words.

How many are there. Are they well equipped, do they have archers or calvery?

A lot of thoughts swarmed in my head as I planned for this situation with the best of my ability. I'll think of something. And if not…..

I'll run away.

"Right away!" Nephiah said while getting up hastily.

While she got dressed I checked to see what the bandit had on him.

Gold…coins?

A pouch full of gold coins was tied to his waist. I assume this is this worlds or at least this area's currency and I was sure this would come in handy. As I kept looking I found more useful things. He had quite a few things on him suprisingly. Lockpicks, though I had no idea how to use them I took them anyways. The man had a few weapons on him that we will definitely make use of. A bow a shortsword and a dagger. I inspected the dagger carefully because it had an odd smell to it.

Sniff… Sniff

It smelt bitter and vile.

Poison dagger.

This could come in handy. I kept the dagger and attached it to my lower back in case of emergency. The sword was a simple black shortsword, it did have a very nice looking guard, pommel, and grip that would definitely drove the price of the sword up.

I decided that I would carry this sword along with my other weapons. This wasn't a game so I could use as many weapons as I want and not have worry about things like item slots. Though, it would have to be withen reason as I couldn't just carry a ton of weapons. But adding a extra dagger and a backup sword gave me more advantages than disadvantages so it was more than worrh it. The bow however was a lost cause.

I didn't know how to shoot a fucking bow.

"Nephiah, can you shoot a bow?" I asked the dark elf who was now fully armored.

"Yes of course." She answered.

"Than take these they will help us. I'm not sure how many are out there so be weary and tell me how many you see." I said to Nephiah as I gave her the wooden bow and some arrows.

"Will do." Nephiah answered with fire in her heart.

Time to fight again.

I wasn't tired or very sleepy but I still wasn't at tiptop shape like I was back at that village. But my mind still raced and I had a feeling we would come out on top.

"The crevice gives us both an advantage and disadvantage. It makes it hard for them to storm in but equally as hard for us to come out. We can created a chokepoint and kill any who enter but then they would just end up smoking us out or waiting us out. I believe the best action is to get out of here." I said very quickly to the dark elf.

Nephiah seemed a bit suprised by my sudden burst of knowledge but soon agreed.

"You are more wise than you look. I agree. I'll hold them off with my bow if I can but first we need to leave this place." Nephiah said before heading towards the crevice.

"I will go first. I'll yell if anything happens." I said to the dark elf before making my way through the crevice.

It was very scary and quiet. Im sure they were out there and maybe they didn't know that we were coming out but they definitely were watching.

Aw shit.

There wasn't too many bandits but then again this isn't a game.

6 bandits, two of us.

Shit.

They were all in a semicircle around the cave. They were about maybe 50 or 40 feet away all waiting with their weapons drawn. I had my spear and shield at the ready.

"Nephiah come quickly!!" I yelled out. I didn't hear anything back but I assume she heard me.

"Well well well!! If it ain't the bandit slayer. Y'know you did me a favor back there, killin' that bastard Hans, now the gang and his wife belong to me!! Haha!!! So I'll give you a choice youngin', hand over yer gold and that pretty elf over there and we'll let yer live. How bout' it eh? Quite a fair deal I say.." The bandit said.

I took a good look at the bandit who spoke. He was tall but wasn't particularly big or muscular. He wielded an equally tall sword however , a zweihander or greatsword, or a claymore. I'm not fucking sure it's dark.

His armor was what most of the other bandits wore but a little better. A mail shirt with a metal cuirass, some pauldrens, and some nice looking gauntlets. He did not wear a helmet however.

Stupid.

Helmets definitely did suck to wear, they were stuffy and heavy but they kept you alive. Oh well, this just makes it easier to kill this asshole.

"Reynard?…." I heard a small voice next to me. It was of course Nephiah.

Is she… scared?

Nephiah looked a little scared, gripping the bow tight with her jaw clenched. Even tears looked like they were forming.

"Don't leave me to them… please." She said with watery eyes.

Nephiah was a mysterious girl, she was quiet and reserved and enjoyed teasing me but she also had this side to her. Maybe she has abandonment issues.

Who knows.

"Don't worry, I won't leave you." I said to the dark elf. Her face changed almost instantly and she seemed very appreciative.

"If we leave here alive I promise to follow you wherever you go." Nephiah said before notching an arrow and readying the bow.

"Right. I'll hold you to that." I said before bracing myself against my shield.

There were 2 archers on both sides of us and 4 men who wielded swords and spears. A quick plan played in my head.

"Nephiah, kill both archers and wait for my command. Ready.. Now!!" I said before rushing foward.

Thump!!..Thump!!

Two arrors flew out from Nephiah's bow with both archers shooting their own. Luckily their arrows missed and Nephiah's hit.

"So thats how yur wanna play yeah!!? Give 'em hell boys!!" The main bandit said before rushing in.

Thump!!

Nephiah shot another arrow that killed one of the two archers. The other I couldn't see but I had hoped that he died.

4 vs 1…. Fuck.

This was horribly unfair.
