Reynard Finally Finds a City

We soon looted the dead bandits right after Nephiah had tended to my wounds. To say there was a ton of gear was an understatement.

Most of it was useless as it was too heavy to cary who knows how long to a shop, didn't fit us, or just wasn't as good as what we already had. There was three things I took however. First, a spear. The spear I had been using was now very dull and worn from the heavy use. The one I looted was similar to my old one as it was just a long stick with a pointy end, but this time there wasn't a piece of red ribbon on it and it was a little bit longer. And in a lot better shape.

The second piece of equipment was a brand new shield. My old one was battered and chipped and it was time to ditch it. The new shield was a red and white checkered shield that was a bit bigger than my old one.

Lastly, I had grabbed the nice metal gauntlets and leather gloves that the bandit leader was wearing. My cut up arms thanked me for that.

Besides the armor and weapons each of the bandits had a pouch of gold, the bandit leader especially had quite a few. Was it a lot? I couldn't tell you but I would invest this money into good things. They didn't have food or water but one man did have a flask of alcohol. I left it because it was no use to me right now and would only be dead weight . I have to stay in tip top shape afterall.

But its not like I wouldn't mind a drink. I could definitely use one after all the shit that happened since coming to this world.

How I miss my warm bed and RTS games… I wonder if Manor Lords ever got completed.

We quickly gathered everything we could and stashed the rest of the gear inside the cave. If I was ever low on money I would come back here.

But now we were off.

"I wonder how long it will take us before we find a town?" I asked Nephiah who silently walked beside me. Ever since that fight she's been more quiet and less teasing.

"I couldn't say. Hopefully soon, I am dying to sleep in a real bed." Nephiah said.

Its been a while since we've slept and it's been taking a toll on us. The bandit ambush made us a bit paranoid so we didn't make camp and only took short rests here and there.

"I wish to do the same." I said with a sigh. This adventure was really taking a toll on us. Its been two days that we haven't slept and we were down to our last rations. If we didn't find a town soon it would be hard to continue.

At least we had water.

The river that we were traveling along glady supplied us with a limitless supply of fresh water that we drank from frequently.

Was it contaminated? Maybe but Nephiah drank it and she talks with water spirits so I'm sure its okay.

Hopefully.

We continued downstream for quite a while. It seemed to be about noon now and the hot sun gave us much needed warmth from the cold weather. This beautiful forest was also starting to open up more and more with clearings and bunches of tall grass replacing the once dense forest.

Occasionally the odd animal scurried away and sometimes a fish would jump out the river.

I wonder what type of animals this world has?

They had birds and fish as far as I could tell but no animals came close enough to see. I'm sure this world would have to have different animals. Maybe similar? Who knows.

"Finally!!" I said with joy in my voice.

Finally. Finally we find a fucking city!! And a big one at that!!!

Nephiah soon came out from the sparse forest and looked towards the city along with me.

Whoa!!?

It was a beautiful sight. The river ran along the open fields and supplied farms with water to irrigate their crops. The river went on much farther than I could see. The fields were mostly empt, likely picked clean from a harvest, but some fields were currently harvested by a large group of farmers who worked very hard harvesting, grouping the crops together, and then loading them onto wooden carts waiting for transportation. I couldn't see much from far away but it looked as if they were harvesting multiple types of crops.

The city itself was huge and its tall walls protected a giant city. It looked like they were expanding too with a large wall that was still being built. It looked like a promising thriving city.

The gold pouch that I carried felt a little lighter already just thinking how much money I had to spend just to live here.

"What a thriving city!! Come on, Reynard!!" Nephiah said before she started to quickly walk towards the city gates.

I hope I didn't need a ID card or something…
