Reaching Out

A boy left all alone in the world after being abandoned by his mother in a poor clan that treated him harshly because he started showing signs of being different from other kids and the people around him. With him being ostracized more and more he became less and less of the cheerful young kid he use to be until eventually turning discreet and mute around others in hopes that they would stop being scared of him. Though that plan never worked out for him and, in the end he was left to strive on his own as best as he could in the environment he was left in. He explored the towns library and any books he could find in his Clan even if they were useless. Years on years of doing such things eventually led him into stumbling across a book that would help push him towards the thing he wanted the most. "The Basic Guide To The Astral Path" This book may not of been special to anyone in the long run but, it was to him because, it was his new beginning. With this new path available to him would he be able to push through all the obstacles and hardships waiting for him or in the end will he stumble and fall? Or will people be there to catch him if he does once again?

One More Day

As everyone's days went on Xilo eventually left Vandor alone to go do some training. From what Xilo could tell Vandor had returned to normal for now, just in case he filled Keld in. Xelfia's healing was also coming along nicely so now all they had to do was wait. Aeon was currently advertising for him and spreading around a few rumours in the underground in advance. Felli and Tearia were off by themselves after taking the fox with them leaving Xilo alone today. "It's been a while since I've been alone." Arriving in the courtyard, it was completely empty except for him. Doing a few stretches Xilo started practising as time flew by.

*haahaaaa*

After a few hours sweat was pouring down his face while he tried to control his power. It was a bit risky without Aeon around to put a stop to him, he knew that. Which was why he was doing incredibly small amounts at a time so he could control it properly. Katrin watched from the side with a bit of interest. She had just finished taking care of her primary duties so it was time for a break. She had wanted to take another shot at Hunter again, however seeing Xilo stopped her. "A demon's power." Taking a seat on the bench nearby Katrin felt the flame inside of her stomach heating up more than normal. "Is it in response to his power?" It quickly faded though leaving her clueless, that flame was a complete mystery to her.

Studying all of Xilo's movements Katrin noted down his progress with a grin. "He's advancing well." The boy was full of secrets and new wonders waiting to be discovered. "Hopefully he doesn't do anything stupid in Tidal." That was one of her main concerns. He seemed to love to dig his nose into business that wasn't his. "Oh well." If it happened then so be it, as long as he didn't destroy their relations with Tidal completely. "I doubt that's possible." Laughing to herself , she knew that was impossible for someone as weak as him. Then she remembered all the times he had proved her wrong so far. "Surely...he couldn't do anything." Reassuring herself of that, she got up from the bench and walked in front of Xilo.

"Hello Xilo, how's it going?"

"Going...well. Why are you here, don't you have more important things to be doing?"

"I already finished all that, besides my daughter's boyfriend is important too. If I spent all my time doing work again I'd just go crazy. People already don't like me so they can fuck off if they want to get mad. It seems you're getting better at controlling that demon power of yours."

Shrugging his shoulders, Xilo knew she was right.

"I haven't really, without Aeon here I'm worried about going too far."

"Speaking of Aeon, where did you send him off to?"

"To do some business, he'll be back. If my predictions are right we only have tomorrow then Delfex will be here. If I want to deal with him properly I can't be wasting time."

"Isn't training like this wasting time though, you should be out there helping yourself."

"It's not, Aeon knows a lot more about this place with your connections. He'll do it much better then me and the most I can do is this. If I want to win against Delfex I'm going to need this power at its current max capability, ideally without me losing control."

"So you are gambling after all."

Rolling her eyes Katrin knew Xilo was playing with fire.

"Nope, I have a back up plan. Even if I have to play dirty."

"Whatever you say. Since you're practising by yourself, want to fight against me a bit?"

"You're powerless, what would that do for me?"

"Waste time! Come on, don't tell me you're scared of me? Like you said I have no more energy. This should be easy for you."

Edging him on Katrin wasn't trying to just mess around. That intense burning she felt earlier wasn't some kind of fluke when she felt Xilo's power. She wanted to test if it was resonating with Xilo at all and figure it out more. If she was expected to be forever powerless until they found that damn girl again then she would go insane. If there was a way to get even a bit of her power back or understand some of this flame then she would take it. With Xilo's reluctant agreement, Katrin took a step back and faced him. "I might not have any energy but I can still fight." Cracking her knuckles she waited for Xilo to make the first move. She was sure to give him a surprise.

"Alright, if you're sure about this."

Not really trying, Xilo moved in completely underestimating his opponent. A loose punch full of flaws went right for Katrin's arm. Not bothering to dodge or block Xilo was confident it would hit and this would be over. He was definitely being over confident but she deserved it. Soon those thoughts came around to bite him on the butt as he felt his world turn upside down. The next thing he knew he was on the floor with pain running up his back. "What the hell just happened?" The world spun around him for a moment before Xilo looked up to see Katrin standing over him with a cheeky grin.

"Take this seriously as you would normally Xilo."

Shaking the confidence off Xilo stood back up after being tossed on his butt.

"What did you do?"

"You should know more than anyone that Astral Strength is far from everything. I'm surprised you forgot that. My body is still quite strong thanks to training it, even if it isn't that impressive it's still enough to defend myself against an attack like that. Come now, put your heart into it."

Slapping himself Xilo put his head on straight as he took the fight seriously. "She's right." There was more than one way to fight and he let that slip from his mind. Repositioning himself Xilo tried attacking her again at an adjusted level still but more serious. Colliding with Katrin, he blocked her arm from grabbing his as he connected with her. With Xilo actually prepared this time Katrin failed to block his attack and instantly switched to one of her own. Slipping away from his grasp, she ducked to the side of him and went right for his back. Managing to score a hit on each other they spent the next couple of hours fighting each other.

Enjoy.
