A New Trick

"What did you want to talk about?"

With each drop of rain that hit the ground Tearia patiently waited for her Grandfather to speak up but even after a couple of minutes had passed nothing changed, they just continued to watch the rain in silence. "What to do." Her Grandfather still hadn't spoken but she knew they couldn't be here all day so she had to be the one to start the conversation it seemed. Relaxing some of her tension she finally said a word to her grandfather since they had sat down.

"So what did you want to talk about."

However even then her grandfather didn't say anything right away which left her with nothing else she could do until she heard a long heavy sigh seemingly filled with sorrow, anger and other emotions she couldn't detect. But that just made it worse for Tearia since she had never heard something like this from her Grandfather. "Except the one time...My parents died." Her Grandfather was a strange man even to her sometimes and always seemed to be shrouded in so much mystery but the couple times she had asked about his past when she was younger she never was given an answer and eventually just gave up but because of that she had always felt a little distant from her grandparents. "Though as time went on I got past that." Now she no longer felt any distance from them thankfully.

"Tearia. I'd like to teach you something."

Finally being able to get the words out Eli stared down at his hands as a small spark of lightning came to life on them and started to bounce around in between each finger. It had been so long since he last used this but now it was time.

"Teach me something? Isn't that what you're already doing."

A little confused with how her Grandfather was acting Tearia watched as the lightning came alive on his palms and shuddered a little bit as the Lightning inside her body sprung to life just from the sight of his however the pressure and skill in both of there's was miles apart as it finally escaped her body and copied the same movements as her Grandfathers without her control. Just like her father and her Grandfather Tearia was also given lightning as her element when she reached the Transformation Stage but unlike the two she hadn't ever used it even recently instead she avoided it because of her Grandfather, just like he did even though that was one of his prides and joys in life.

"But I couldn't use it not after what happened." Years ago her Grandfather always used lightning whenever he fought training that little girl but when she disappeared everything changed for him even the way he acted in general. but she never asked or mentioned anything about it, she saw how her Grandfather was in so much pain and didn't have the heart to ask. "She probably died.." Tearia never really talked much with her but the few times she had seen her she always seemed so quiet and distant almost like she couldn't notice the world around her even when she was fighting it was like she moved on instinct alone never truly aware of what she was doing herself and that creeped her out making Tearia keep her distance but her Grandfather never seemed to mind it. He would just continue to train her every day until the day it stopped when she saw her Grandfather return from training all alone unlike usual and without saying a word of hello or even acknowledging Tearia he walked off with his face full of pain pale as a ghost.

"you're not wrong. But what I want to teach you now is something very special."

"Special?."

Without Looking at Tearia he watched the lightning dance in his own palm as he finally broke past some of the self blame and hatred he had for himself while finally turning to look his Granddaughter in the eyes. "I can do better this time and I will for both of them." He wouldn't allow himself to fail again this time. He had already done that so many times in the past and he didn't want to see his Granddaughter die as well. It was a hard decision for him to make but it was something he knew he had to do or else he could never live it down.

"Yes It's a technique I created when I was younger all by myself. You could say it's a one of a kind really and I would like you to learn it as well."

"...?"

Tilting her head in silence she was a little confused as to what her Grandfather meant until she watched him get off the bench and slowly walk towards their training field in the middle of the rain. "So he's finally going to do it again." Watching from the window she watched as her husband finally started his path to moving on and growing past his burdens. "You won't fail this time." Softly smiling she hoped for the best along with him as she and Tearia watched the lightning around his palm begin to grow and coil around his body more and more until eventually he disappeared from there sight as a large sound of thunder crackled through the morning along with a large bolt of lightning that landed in front of them as her grandfather stepped out of it almost like he was lightning himself.

"Well that's the basic part of it at least but this is what you'll be learning with me these next couple of weeks, do you understand?"

Speaking in the strictest voice he could muster at the moment he breathed a breath of fresh air while letting rain fall on his clothes as he sat in it staring at his Granddaughters slightly agape mouth before a soft chuckle escaped his own.

"Haha."

He couldn't forget her and what had happened but that didn't mean he would let it shackle him any longer. "I've still got room to grow myself it seemed." Even with his long life behind him he was still growing and that made him a little happy inside.

Enjoy
