A Fake Dream

Xilo thought of hundreds of possibilities for Landal's behaviour and none of them made sense. Someone coming back to life after dying wasn't something that was possible. Death was the end no matter how much someone wanted to believe they could bring someone back. Even in all the stories Xilo had heard about people reviving they were all just made up. Which meant Landal had to have grown crazy or severely mistaken something he saw for the truth. "Lexia...is alive." He could still remember her smell vividly along with the feeling of her touch as she leaned on him. That wasn't how a dead person would act nor was it some kind of illusion that played tricks on him.

Unless it was done by someone way out of his league there were usually flaws to those sorts of things that you could find with enough effort. Settling down a bit, Xilo thought about this using his brain instead of raw emotion and speculation. With a bit of time that sick feeling he had earlier disappeared as his breathing steadied. Staring at those graves Xilo found the power to rip his eyes off of them as he looked around the room. In here were a bunch of pictures and little trinkets that Landal had kept. "It's where he hides away." He locked all of his emotions and memories in this invisible box.

"Do I try to talk to him or wait until he leaves?"

The first option was nearly impossible, Landal would most likely kill him on the spot. "I want to talk to him myself though..." The other was much safer while giving him a lot less information to work with. "Eh, if you want to talk to the old man I have something in mind." "Oh now you talk to me again, what about when I was asking for you earlier?" She went silent once more before explaining her idea to him that could potentially work. Xilo was forced to accept her silence and just listen instead. If she didn't want to say a thing she would never talk and Xilo knew that he couldn't rely on her for everything. That would get him nowhere in the long run except an early grave.

"Fine, I'll give it a shot."

Lexia looked up at Vandor as he entered the room with the others who had just returned.

"Hey Vandor, where have you been?"

Xelfia noticed as well as she spotted him.

"I was sorting out some papers and talking with Xilo, I figured I should give you all some space. Is there something you need from me?"

From Xelfia's tone it seemed like she wanted to ask another question and Vandor was right.

"Where's Xilo? He left a little while ago and hasn't come back. Do you know where he is since you talked to him?"

Vandor knew that was coming though so he didn't hesitate too long to answer.

"He went back to the Castle to check on Landal."

*Thud*

Hearing that Lexia jumped up from her seat in a complete panic and scared the whole room in the process. "Xilo went back, How!?" If that was really the case then Xilo was walking into his own death. There was no way Landal wouldn't find him the second he entered. Once that happened Lexia wasn't sure even she could safe Xilo from that anymore. "Why you idiot?" There was no reason for him to go back there anymore nor was there a reason for her to return. Yet now she was in a mess and had to worry about him at the same time. Seeing how Lexia reacted, Xelfia asked for more of an explanation from Vandor. Vandor didn't hold anything back as he repeated their entire conversation they had together.

He knew more than anything to never withhold any information about Xilo from Xelfia. He had tried it once in the past and ended up in miserable shape thanks to it. "She tried to beat me for something so little." it still gave him a bit of a freight thinking about it. He knew Xelfia was with Xilo but it wasn't until that day that he realized just how important Xilo was to her. Since then he kept a mental note in his mind to never keep anything from any of the girls even if Xilo asked him too. "I'm sorry Xilo." At least this time he wasn't asked to not say anything so he wasn't doing anything wrong.

"What the hell!??!?! He wants to learn more about Landal over our stupid fight. He's just going to kill himself!"

Lexia only freaked out more when she heard Xilo's reason, Xelfia on the other hand had calmed down.

"Relax Lexia, Xilo isn't easy to catch and won't be detected easily. He should be safe as long as he doesn't do anything risky."

"How can you be so sure?"

"I'm sure you've noticed yourself, what with all the times you've tried to check his body out, he's not normal. Isn't that right?"

With a sly grin Xelfia confronted Lexia about what she had been doing the past couple days. Lexia fell silent as she felt herself get exposed in front of everyone. "They knew?" That wasn't something Lexia thought they would ever figure out or let her get away with while knowing. "These kids..." While they had their talk Xilo spread darkness around the room listening to the voice. "An illusion eh?" Like he had mentioned earlier people could pull off illusions to trick people that were weaker than him. If they were stronger though it became a lot tougher unless specific conditions were met.

Landal had soared above and beyond those conditions making Xilo pretty confident that this would work. Since he had locked himself in a room where no one else but him could enter his guard was massively lowered. Along with him being emotional at the moment his mind wasn't in the proper state making him very easy to trick. With the help of his darkness and the ability to obscure his presence completely Xilo could make it act like he was just a part of his imagination and talk with Landal. If everything went well he could ask him questions and learn more without a single problem then just vanish without a word right after.

"Like it was all just a dream."

Enjoy.
