Chapter 8 Sweet Dreams, Mate

These are different times.

A period where sad and sad stories always repeat themselves to form the same cycle.

Where, every night is only filled with darkness, gloom, and endless suffocation. It was as if there was no return to the glimmer of light. A misfortune that seemed like it would never end when the sky seemed to be mocking her. The absence of stars in the sky really emphasizes that nature is not on her side.

 Dark, really dark.

Meanwhile, in the middle of a vast expanse of grassland, there stands a fragile figure who only hopes to be visited by her lover. She stood feeling increasingly vulnerable, becoming like dry grass blown by the night wind. Fly away, as far as possible.

The woman smiled sadly. Stroking her stomach which was starting to grow, her heart trembled when she realized two pairs of steps were approaching her.

Really, she hoped that her lover would come alone. Came bringing all the hopes she had always dreamed of. It's just that the guy doesn't seem to be like that. He clearly didn't want to give even a shred of hope.

 "What do you want?"

The man asked with a frown on his face showing displeasure. On the one hand, his hug tightened towards the other woman next to him. Confirming that he already has another woman.

"Don't you want this baby? He's your son." The woman still hoped. She couldn't even contain her pain. Only, she wanted to stay strong.

The man laughed, full of arrogance. "Don't worry, I still need it, so you can go after giving birth to it."

Really, how painful that sentence is. A word that she never expected would end up reaching her ears.

The woman's tears just slipped away. Her face was lowered as if she didn't want to be seen. However, her trembling voice couldn't fool anyone, including the man.

"How can you treat me like this?" she asked, "I'm your Mate."

That woman should have stopped. She should have gone and strengthened her heart that the man no longer expected her. The man only wanted the branch of the baby in her womb.

It's just that, once again, she really loves him. She hoped that just one word out of his mouth would keep her in this place.

However, the words spoken by the man increasingly created wounds that may never heal.

"You never really mattered in my life. Mate ... just part of the natural cycle created by the Moon Goddess, but that doesn't mean it's always acceptable," he said, arrogantly, and full of contempt.

Who knows how much her heart would have to be broken for this man to look at her even just a little. Don't know how many tears she had to shed so that this man would hug her just once. A warm hug that brings peace. Really, that woman didn't want any position other than to be part of this man. Her own partner.

But, maybe now is the time. It's time for her to stop expecting anything anymore.

The woman smiled sadly. "You know, I love you so much that I would give up anything for you," she admitted.

The man didn't move. Still looking arrogantly and without compassion.

"However, I think it should end here." She smiled again. Really smiled sweetly, far from the painful impression she had so far. "I hope you are happy with your choice. And I just hope that I don't meet you again in circumstances like this in the next life."

The man was still silent, remained silent even when the woman standing a few meters in front of him moved to pull a gun from under the white dress she was wearing.

The woman even smiled as she pulled the trigger, aiming it rights under her chin, and accompanied the final sentence, "See you later, Mate."

 So ....

 Bang!!

 "NO!"

Rea woke up. Immediately sat down with a loud breath that felt suffocating. Her eyes were wide open, covered in sweat that had soaked her body, while her heartbeat was pounding like crazy.

Her chest was still heaving as she grabbed the glass of water and took a rough gulp. Suddenly she felt very thirsty.

"What dream was that?" she muttered, wiping the cold sweat on her temples and forehead.

However, Rea couldn't even think and guess the meaning of this strange dream when her eyes suddenly burst into tears. It slid down her smooth cheeks quickly, and brought a feeling of tightness that came from nowhere.

It was as if there was a terrible pain that had shackled her soul for a very long time.

 Rea cried.

Don't know how, but Rea really cried. It felt like Rea was about to stop but the unreasonable pain in her heart forced her to continue crying. She even roared so loudly that it was difficult to breathe.

This is strange, Rea has never once felt this bad.

 Absolutely no reason.

Could this have something to do with the nightmare she just had?

So, what does this dream that feels real have to do with her? Rea didn't even recognize the woman and man there.

Until the door to the girl's room creaked open and someone unexpected entered with hasty steps, Rea was still roaring. Kilian's worried figure barged in and pulled Rea into his arms.

 "What's wrong, Mate? You're screaming."

Kilian didn't get an answer, Rea continued to cry even louder until the girl subconsciously hugged him back.

Rea sobbed, "Kilian, my heart really hurts. I don't know why, but my heart feels like it's being squeezed until—"

"Rea," Kilian interrupted. The man's voice sounded soft, leading Rea to calm. "I'm here. I won't let anyone hurt you. You're just having a bad dream." The man hugged her. Rubbing her back, even planting a warm kiss on her wet cheek.

Rea was still sobbing. Not reacting to Kilian's treatment because of her mixed feelings.

"Did you see anything?" Kilian asked when he noticed that Rea was starting to feel calm.

The girl suddenly looked up, released her hug from Kilian and moved away. "I just had a nightmare like you said," she explained, reluctant to tell.

Kilian was silent for a moment, then nodded in understanding. "Okay. You don't have to say it now."

For a moment they were silent. Only silence followed until Rea's voice came back after that.

"You can go, Alpha. It's already midnight, you should rest."

However, Rea clearly didn't expect what reply Kilian would give her.

The man lay down, pulling Rea's body until the girl ended up right on top of the alpha's chest. The condition of the small bed really didn't leave any space between their bodies.

Kilian smiled as he closed his eyes. "I will accompany you tonight. Your nightmares will not come again."

Surprisingly, Rea did not rebel. She smiled back, and let Kilian hug her while casting a calming spell until she fell asleep.

 "Sweet dreams, Mate."
