Chapter 14: Encounter 2
Zaine summons Spectral Ents, and it protects Zaine and Amy with its body from the breath. It barely failed, but it was enough to deal with the breath.
The boar continued running away, but the dragon fired another fire breath. This time Zaine doesn't have the time to summon anything. They made a jump and sacrificed the boar, leaving it to be bait.
The boar continued to run as fast as it could, only to be hit by barrages of fireballs and fire breath, lasting a few moments, and finally died.
{Giant Boar has been slain}
{You have lost the ability to summon Giant Boar}
Being in the mountainous area, Zaine manages to scan the surroundings and finds a dead log, enough for the both of them to stay in.
They both hold their breath, exhausted from all the panic and running.
They waited until the noises of the dragon were nowhere to be heard.
The place is now silent, with only the traces of the dragon gone.
Zaine hypes himself to go out of their hiding spot and check the safety of the surrounding.
As he walked outside, a dragon roar could be heard very close. It was waiting for them...
Zaine summons an Ent and a spectral giantess to try to take its attention while running as fast as he can.
With his mana running low, he rambles around to find a way to escape from the dragon.
As the dragon continued with its barrage of fire breath, Zaine quickly ran out of mana.
Amy and Albus are still inside the hiding spot. They are concerned about Zaine's life and decide to risk their lives by going out.
"Amy! Albus! Don't go outside!" Zaine shouted as he saw Amy go out of the hiding spot.
His voice was filled with desperation and concern.
Amy decided to go back inside, thinking about how useless she was while hiding there, unable to do anything.
Albus felt the same way, even though a dragon. It knew if it would go out there, it would die instantly.
They remembered the artifact that Zaine had, the Resurrection Charm. It would allow Zaine to fake his death so the dragon could leave him alone.
Just then, Amy notices the magic bag left by Zaine on the ground. Zaine doesn't have the Resurrection Charm. It's right there inside the bag.
With hard choices, they decide to remain inside the hiding spot, unable to do anything.
After the place had gone quiet again, Albus immediately ran outside to check on the situation.
Remains of Zaine's summon could be seen everywhere. He had sacrificed his life for them. Amy ran around trying to find Zaine, and eventually, they did.
Amy's eyes teared up as she looked at the burned body of Zaine. She checked his pulse for any signs of life. She threw the Resurrection Charm, hoping it would do something, but nothing happened.
'So what if Zaine is still living?' Amy thought to herself
'What would she do? What can she do?'
Amy prayed to God to give her the strength to save Zaine. She prays for the sole purpose of Zaine's survival.
"Please, God, just this once, give me the power to save him."
Then, suddenly, a bright aura enveloped Amy's body, giving her a Job.
{Job has been granted: Support}
Amy places her hands above Zaine's chest, channeling her power to Zaine.
"Heal!"
The light that envelopes Amy got shared with Zaine, slowly recovering his burnt skin and turning it back to its original color.
As Zaine's skin turned normal, Amy could sense Zaine's life slowly returning.
Water dripped from her eyes as she channeled her mana to Zaine.
Amy spent all her mana trying to save Zaine. She collapsed from mana exhaustion.

...
"Kyuu..kyuu...." A familiar feeling.
Zaine woke up, thinking he must've died and arrived in hell. With nothing good done in his life, he deserved to be there.
After accepting his fate, he can see a familiar place in front of him, with Amy beside him, sleeping soundly with tears still in her eyes, and Albus sitting on the ground.
He didn't know what had happened or how it happened. All he knew was that Amy saved him.
The dragon thought all the intruders had been defeated, so it went inside the volcano.
Zaine realizes the power difference between them. Thinking how dangerous the world is right now, he evacuates Amy and Albus towards a safer place, away from the dragon's den.
After a few hours, night arrives, and Amy finally wakes up.
She looked at Zaine while he was staring at the fire he had started.
"How could you go out there by yourself?!" Her face signals relief and sorrow both at the same time.
Zaine sat in silence as he couldn't know what to answer.
"I was so worried when I found you, you idiot!" She reaches towards Zaine and hugs him tightly while tears dripping.
"I'm sorry, Amy, I could not afford to lose you and Albus. I think that if I were to become bait... You know what, I don't have any excuses, just I'm sorry."
Amy continued to hug Zaine, and then she sat beside him around the fireplace.
Amy tells about his class and what happened back there. She still couldn't believe what she had done. Power starts surging inside her as she heals Zaine from a near-death situation.
Zaine thanks Amy once again, and they both spend the night on the fireplace with each other... and Albus.
