Chapter 18

The shine of the sunlight arrived on his eyes, forcing him to wake up. Feeling comfortable on a fluffy mattress, his eyes starts so slowly open. Looking at the ceiling with a closed light bulb, he picks his body up. "Where am I?" He thought.

Looking around in the unfamiliar environment. What happened yesterday? He wasn't fully conscious, rather still half-asleep.

Taking his glasses on the bed side table, he walked towards the window slightly covered by the curtains. Looking outside to some where deep in the forest. "Oh." He said to himself. "... OH."

Running towards the door he turned the door handle. "WHAT HAPPE-" he paused, seeing Yhur in the middle of a bite of his toast for breakfast and Mac preparing his breakfast as well. Everyone paused looking at each other.

It seemed that Yhur had just woken up the same time as Jun, except he had went to the kitchen for breakfast earlier.

.

Jun was sitting down as Mac served him some eggs and toast with some bacon. An average breakfast you could get in an average-waged house. He stared at the food blankly for a while until Mac asked him what's wrong.

"The food's getting cold, so you should eat up."

Seeing Mac putting himself down to sit on the chair in front of Yhur. While Yhur continues eating his breakfast in a more tired, sleepy manner. Rather expected but unexpected at the same time, Jun had thought.

His question from yesterday was still not answered, as previously Jun had been distracted by the thought of not returning on time to do his mountain of assignments. Forcing him to be motivated and complete 50 commissions. He tried to ask them once again, "What happened, and why am I here?"

Yhur turned his head towards Jun, "If it's about the money, I gave the girl 30%.If it's about where she is, she's already home near ours."

He fixed his posture and his reading glasses, "If it's the reason why we brought you here, the seal have started to be broken." More seriousness was put in the statement than before. Confusing Jun on what Yhur had actually meant of the said statement.

Yhur could not explain too much information as he still haven't known Jun that well. So by the seal, he started explaining from what had happened in the past.

Once there was a war called "The war of Kataarak" started by the Ruler of Impurities. With the ability so powerful he was able to challenge even the strongest of advantage-rs, the Ruler also possessed an ability to blend in with the citizens and other humans as well.

The strongest advantage-rs were chosen as some sort of protector called a 'Guard' and they will either be picked by the previous guard themselves or automatically get replaced to their 'Vice-Guard' if they were to die and not decide who they would choose as the new Guard. These people were fighting for days, weeks, months to try and defeat the Ruler.

The Guard of the place they are today, Pierus, was one of these fighters that fought in the war. The advantage-r who could purify an impurity by a single spell, Vennett Shain, was one of the main pillars for the success of the defence and result.

His advantage has always been able to purify any impurity that stands in his way. Yet he first struggled for a longer time as he was fighting the Ruler of Impurities himself. The strength and power that was able to be immune by Vennett's spell. Even with the help of other avantage-rs, they were barely holding on.

They had no choice, literally. Vennett could simply push himself to his limits and could only turn the Ruler to stone. Unable to move since the last 11 years.

"But all that had happened 11 years ago. Our abilities have improved significantly over the years." Yhur said, saying that there might be a chance to actually defeat the Ruler of Impurities completely once and for all.

Jun was hoping that it would be like that, but something seemed wrong. "You're correct." Yhur said, even when Jun didn't utter a single word. As if he was able to read Jun's mind.

"The Ruler of Impurities, or Kataarak as their name, may not have his abilities improved as it has already been 11 years. We have gathered more advantage-rs just like you who possess immense power, but we should not underestimate Kataarak." A sinister look appeared.

"If you're struggling with the dragon then lets say... You'd immediately perish by the mere presence of it."

Yhur talked as if he was looking down at Jun to give a scare. It was indeed working, Jun stared blankly with his eyes widened and fully shocked. His body shaking just by the thought that he was specifically chosen and could die instantly.

He didn't want to waste his efforts and future that he had done all the years.

"Don't mind him." Mac tried comforting. Jun showed releif because of Mac. "But it's true, you might die very easily." Jun went back to his shocked state.
